Nice new website design and amazing review too!!

YAY PCB pics I swear that not enough sites include them. Nice reviews I approve please keep this format.

Hmm.. can't help but recommend that the 290 and 780 could have been here... or at LEAST the 780.
The fact that the 770 was winning in a variety of titles against the 290x is concerning... wonder how a 780 would line up with the 290/290x in this wide group of titles.
Also, I'd love to see some reviews of the 970/980, and how they compete with last generation 290/780 and 290x/780ti.

And any information on the codename R9 300 series (especially fiji) is much awaited ;)

GTX 780 should be included in my next review.

Nice review. I'd like to see more focus on the acoustics of each cooler in the future. Temperature and noise readings compliment each other in evaluating how each cooler design really performs. I'm happy to let a chip run a couple degrees hotter if it's noticeably quieter than the competition, assuming there's thermal headroom to work with.

For video cards with 3 Gb of ram or more, you should include firestrike Ultra, the 4k version of it.
To see how good are they for 4k gaming !

It will be included in my next review.

azbest • 9 years ago

too bad theres no new amd graphics card :D too bad theres no firestrike for mantle or catzilla for mantle :D i hope the power target wasnt limit to maximum graphics performance for any of cards here.. especially the gigabyte 780ti..

hey • 9 years ago

Excellent desing and great review. :) Just a little suggest: you can use any games for power consumption test. Furmark is not good for it. You know, cards turn down their clock speeds in Furmark. So we can not see real power consumptions of them.

WhyCry • 9 years ago

You have a point, I actually measured TDP in 4 scenarios, including games. I will add this to my next review!

fernandinands • 9 years ago

WhyCry, the best power consumption test is Crysis 3, the game is still the game that taxes the VGA more.

Son Goku • 9 years ago

Please do in Crysis 3, Skyrim, Bioshock infinite, Battlefield 4, Watchdogs, Metro redux............

RAWR • 9 years ago

Power tests should show if GPU is limited by software, the 780ti must have its power limit unlocked... Can you like into?

Congrats WhyCry on your first VC GPU review and publishing the new website.

All of us at VC hope you guys enjoy the new site :)

Hope you guys enjoy the first VideoCardz GPU review and the new updated website :)

Ashaira • 9 years ago

The new site is a no go for me. Feels like im on phone. Why can't i get a page with all the new for cardz like the old one? i have a huge screen and i want to use it. Any chance of getting the old version as a choice.

Skr13 • 9 years ago

The new site is indeed also optimized for mobile devices, but it works very well for PC users. You can cycle through pictures for example very smooth, with the mouse, keyboard(arrows) or even by clicking the thumbnails on the left side on the page.
The articles/news view is easy to do as always, and you can dig in to older news, by changing page at the bottom of the page.
About your point of getting old version of the site as option, well, you can't I'm sorry, but I hope you get used to the current version soon.

New Look is great.
There are little problems with mantle and less then 3GB VRAM in some cases. But AMD should be working at that front.
And for mantle i find the CPU benches the most interesting, i was stunned what i3-4xxx can deliver there.

It was a pleasure to read you first Review, some Sites are under your capabilities after years and you are just starting,
looks very promising for the future.
I think i got a benchmark-info-source more now.

WhyCry • 9 years ago

Thank you. I hope I will be able to test Mantle on low-end system some day. It's an amazing technology that should be implemented in all games, and it will at some point.

Guest • 9 years ago

btw the only thing about your review is that nobody plays Furmark as a game so the powerlimiting there is one point but in-game consumption is far more interesting i think.
further i dont think a really low end CPU is needed to show the helping hand of mantle, a simulated i5-4430 or 2500K or a FX-6xxx or bigger AMD core will show it surely.

Alan Po • 9 years ago

First of all: new design is AWESOME! Love the colors. Bench graphs are very cool. Great job!

Second: for Rome 2 - did you use in-game benchmark? Rome 2 benches usually show heavy CPU bottleneck, no matter what CPU is used.
And one more thing WhyCry: can we get any new info on 980 Ti or 8gb variants of 980?
p.s. Would be very cool if you could also review Vram usage for every game. I know it would make reviewing process longer, but that's something nobody practice. Or maybe you could also make reviews of different GPUs performance in new games(at least major titles). Just an idea ;)

WhyCry • 9 years ago

The only games that were not tested with in-game benchmarks are Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs. Rome2 benchmark is not the best around, but it's one of the few that actually shows 256-bit vs 384-bit + difference.

As for VRAM testing, I actually did test it, but I'm still figuring out the methodology, so it did not end up in this review :)

Alan Po • 9 years ago

what about 980 Ti? any news?

WhyCry • 9 years ago

Trust me, if there's something worth posting, you will see it on VC :)
GM200 is still a mystery..
