This is just a back-door tax increase thats going to be used to fine working class people for "violations" that are completely at the discretion of the patronage pigs writing them.

To the hacks on this board commenting with absolutely no idea what's in the law, try reading it then getting back to us. I guarantee your house would be considered blight under this legislation as would every member of the town board that voted to enact it.

imagine if Town of Hemsptead had this law and actually enforced it.

Well of course Ramos has something to say.

He should have to wear a red nose and big shoes to work. It's time we elected respected men of integrity, not clowns like Phil ramos

You shouldn't make comments like that until you read the code, available in the town site. Any attorney will tell you it's unconstitutional.

Ramos is a joke. He loves to piggyback off of folks.

Raise the fine. Islip not going to do anything. Look at the illegal apt/home. My dad neighbor has 4 families living , across the street 2 driveways and 4 entrances. Come on inspector do your job

Don't worry soon they will be filled with all these illegals that are coming in!

Skeptic • 9 years ago

Go further than commenting on this board. E-mail Ramos and make calls to Make the Road NY and ask them why they think blighted neighborhoods benefit immigrants, or anyone else for that matter.

Skeptic • 9 years ago

It's really not that hard to define blight. Why would anyone be against this? The people it affects most are those living in the immediate area. Minorities or not, they should support it.

chooch224 • 9 years ago

Why would anyone be against this? Well, if the Town board went through and weeded out all of the criminals who work for the town who lied about their criminal record, before the DA's office had to, I might be a little more comfortable with these criminals telling people what to do about their private property, for one.

We get the government we deserve.
