Very important topic wake up people.

They can send missions to Mars but they can't save the Bees?

Guest • 9 years ago

There is a difference between can't and won't. If the pollinators die off, then Monsanto's terminator seeds will be the only option for farming. They are trying to corner the market. Terminator seeds do not produce viable seeds. They must be produced in a lab.

Guest • 9 years ago

If the pollinators die off, even "terminator" seeds will be useless. Logic - try it sometime. Monsanto is a big agribusiness company - they are not the representatives of satan on earth.

They are not??

The USDA says that honeybee loss is still at unsustainable levels, 23.2% over the winter.

This is a major issue, Executive Director Achim Steiner of UNEP stated that “The way humanity manages or mismanages its nature-based assets, including pollinators, will in part define our collective future in the 21st century,” and that “The fact is that of the 100 crop species that provide 90 percent of the world’s food, over 70 are pollinated by bees.”

The European Commission has already banned neonicotinoid pesticide use based on damning scientific evidence. We should do the same... Mountains out of molehills. New bee colonies can be created when old ones fail. This is hardly the end of the world.

Verlyba • 8 years ago

The trouble is that many bee keepers already abandoned the bee business because of the loses. Others will follow if the trend isn't reversed. Sure, why should those people suffer permanent loses and run unsustainable business just so that others can make big bucks and keep polluting? So I guess it's up to you to create those new colonies and save mankind's future.

Is it possible that Honey Bee Colony Collapse Disorder is created by the micro-wave frequency omitted by cell-phone towers? Apparently, when a cell-phone is placed within a hive, the queen either dies or moves. Research also demonstrates that bees do not come within a mile or so of cell-phone/WIFI towers.

If this is the case will people be willing to give up their cell-phones, and will cell-phone providers, making billions each year from their service, be willing to prevent the devastation of our food chain? Apparently, there is more to the cell-phone micro-wave frequency than most are willing to realize; http://www.focusonrecovery.net

No.

so ,yeah ,the bees ,bats ,and all other sensitive members of the earthling race are now being ,no exaggeration ,exposed to 100 MILLION times the non natural manmade electromagnetic radiation as our grandparents were . using those smartphones ,wifi ,and smartmeters zaps everything in the path of communication .now ,theyre running ground current with these wireless technologies also ,so even the bumbles that lived under the ground are dying off .cell phones and wifi operate on the microwave frequency spectrum .it is not conducive to life on earth ,much less in unlimited amounts .

Had a crazy experience the other day while golfing in mt.shasta ca. , was walking next to some power lines heard a loud buzz, as I looked up I could see thousands of honey bees going straight down the lines as if they were using it as some kind of highway . Very strange I thought and a bit unsettling considering there situation. Wonder if this has something to do with what's happening to them all?

Ervin Bellamy • 9 years ago

There were power lines before, so why would you think there following an electrical wave? maybe there running away from your slice!!! just joking.

Brendett • 9 years ago

If
food producers kill us from the earth with there pesticides &
insecticides there will be no one too sell the food too! Just sayin some
food for thought! Killing the Honeybees is even worst there will be no
food and man will destroy himself because of MONEY and GREED more food
for thought Just sayin!

Colony Collapse Disorder was not new in 2006. I had been reading about it in the late 1990s after I noticed that there were no honeybees in my garden or feeding on the clover in my lawn in Hope Mills North Carolina.

Searching on the internet for "Where have all the bees gone" I was introduced to CCD and the connection to neonictinoids (nicotine-based), which have been around since the 1980s, but only began to be used extensively in the early 1990s (genetically modified crops' seeds were coated with these insecticides to improve viability). Within 8 years in areas where clothianidin and imidacloprid were used, CCD hit apiaries causing precipitous drops in hives, with whole worker-bee populations disappearing... no dead bees, just hives empty of worker bees.

Back then it was known that these chemicals could kill a broad spectrum of insects and larvae at certain doses, but they also had the effect of causing confusion in insects at doses less than lethal. Low dose exposure occurs when seeds are coated with
neonics and the resulting low-dose parts-per-billion contaminated-crops became suspect.
Back then the connection to nicotine based insecticides was hypothesized, with Bayer Crop Science negotiating in secret with the FDA EPA and USDA regarding restrictions on their use (No action was taken by USA regulatory authorities).

In 2018 the EU had proposed banning neo-nicotinoid insecticides... see this NPR story - https://www.npr.org/section...

This follows an EU temporary ban issued in 2013.

Bayer Crop Science and Syngenta fought this temporary ban with their "scientific research" declaring dire economic consequences within five years of the temporary ban.
Read this GreenPeace exposé - http://sos-bees.org/wp-cont...

Two of the disasters predicted by the HAFFA report were agriculture unemployment rising and reduction in crop yields. Neither catastrophe happened. EU crop yield increased and agriculture employment went up as well.

This article also mentioned hive loss during overwintering. An issue that needs to be raised with overwintering of hives is what the bees are being fed as a supplement to their honey stores (reduced because of our harvesting).
One of the most damaging substances known to be fed to bees is High Fructose Corn Syrup. If that is being used in the majority of hives that are lost during the winter, that is more evidence to not use HFCS.

A little known problem of high levels of low frequency sound waves radiating from high pressure natural gas lines causing the infamous Hum need to be investigated as the true cause of the Bee CCD. Interference with their LF communication signals inside the hive are confusing their distance to pollen sources causing them to fly infinitely far away from the hive and get lost and not return.

If you know about it already, then why does it need to be investigated?
