dual gpu cards don't compare very well here. Some have said only one gpu core is tested at any time. I haven't looked into it personally so take that as you will.
Where the hell do you see a dual gpu in this test?
A titan black is a dual GPU card dumbass
a titan black is defently not a dual GPU card.
brain dead engage brain before big mouth in future or say nothing youll probably sound less dumb
LOL.
Clearly you don't know what a Titan Black is.
titan black has duel gpus
no it doesn't and it's dual gpu your thinking of a titan z
oh it's the dual gpu edition one. they are less common.
Titan X is the Boss
980 TI beats the Titan X in benchmarks. Not sure about real world performance though.
At equivalent clockspeed there is no way that a 980 TI beats a Titan X, but it will be within 10% FPS. Still a WAAAAY better bang for the buck, and i forgot to say that the 980TI usually overclocks better
I got two gtx 980's in sli. I do 1080p gaming cause i'm cool like that :).... going to get 29 390x's when they come out though :/
29 390Xs... That's alot of Wattage you need to power them.
Ooops hehe I meant 2 r9 390x's
Why would you go to ATI from 2 980s??
titan in my opinion is still hands down one of the supreme cards when i had my radeons i couldn't play anything this card despite its lower clocks is an definite workhorse that won't die and it just works. i can't complain about mine an nvidia coworker of my dad give to me.
I had 980 for my son PC and I still prefer Titan's series over 980/780.
Accept the facts that Titan beats it and just because if you can't afford the Titan and claiming the Titan suckz. (lmao)
I'm glad that I purchased Titan Black for both LR/PS and gaming
Titan will rulez da world... Final!
No one claims the "Titan sucks". Titan is overkill with a ton of useless power. You're paying for nothing and wasting you're money. A game can only be maxed out to the extent of the game developers' designs and there aren't any games that are reaching the 980's or the Titan's breaking points. There isn't a game in existence right now that needs a Titan to run on Ultra settings with a smooth frame rate. By the time games are actually developed to reach the max capabilities of the Titan and 980, the tech for the Titan and the 980 will be much cheaper. You can thank mass-produced MMOs and console-ports for that. I can easily afford a Titan, but I'm not a money-wasting moron and there are no games that need a Titan or will take significant advantage of it's power. Example: We have sturdy Winchester rifles WITH ammo, you're the guy with the ray gun, but NO ammo because ammo for it hasn't been developed yet. By time ammo for it is created, everyone will be able to purchase the ray gun because it will be standardized. You lose. "FINAL!" lmao
That's the point..if you don't have it.
You don't have to hate it.
I only listen to someone who's had the item.
So please.. if you think you can't afford it. Than better watch and listen base on experience.. not just review.
I've been upgrading each series.
And I know what I'm taking about.
I don't have just base on reviews.
980 ti is where it's at. Stronger than Titan x, but less costly. I would go with a titan still though, because Titans are cool :P
Useless power, there is no such a thing in computing GPU's!
No, actually there are plenty of reasons to buy a titan, if you work in 2D, 3D animation or video editing, and need the VRAM and compute power.
Opinion replacing experience. Get both, push them and you will see what the limits are.
When modding or running games at high resolution texture packs the differences are obvious. In benching My Titan SLI scores around one third higher than my GTX 980 AMP extreme edition based SLI.
When using heavily 4k (or higher) texture packs, there is also noticeable difference in terms of speed but more importantly in stability with very high rez textures. These are the sort of things you find when you actually speak from experience not wishful thinking.
I found that the GTX's were better on my Gsynch enabled ROG Swift monitor because 2560x1440 works better with them in more games than the Titans did but by no means all. At 4k the titans were far better in games with relevant texture packs.
Designed for PC game engines utilise the Titans additional capabilities, particularly the greater texture memory very well.
People said "Why Titans" when I already had GTX780s. The Titans gave me stability at high resolutions in games like Battlefield 4 which can overrun the VRAM on the GTX980s in ultra at high rez and can run my heavily modded games like Skyrim at 4k when the GTX's simply could not. The same issue, having the best tool available for the job in each case.
Given the massive backlash against so called professional reviews over the last 6 months or so, there is nothing more useful than unbiased personal experience. Hard to find as most people simply dont have the range of hardware one needs to comment but I know plenty, myself included who do.
I want to see 980 2 way sli vs 2 way titan cant find any benchmarks.
I just got 2 Zotac AMP Extreme 980s. I have been trying to compare them to my Titan SLI. So far, the comparison is going very badly for the 980s. I have them in the same machine, just changing the drivers and cards. Benchmark performance is ridiculously low in comparison to the Titan SLI to the point that I am wondering if something might be wrong with the current Nvidia drivers. Not sure if the picture is attaching properly here showing the last couple of comparisons.
GTX980 AMP Extreme SLI (Clocked at 1500mhz) 6034 score in FireStrike.
TITAN SLI using only the normal drivers which default boost 2 on. (Around 932-993 MHz) 13757-13757 in Firestrike
I wasn't expecting such a massive difference so I am still playing with it.
6034 WTF? A GTX 760 can score 6000 in fire strike. You sure your cards are even working at all? Well they must be because a 4930k doesn't have onboard gfx. Some x79 boards require you to turn on PCIe 3.0 in bios, does yours? My EVGA does. 14497 also seems low for 2 Titans on a 4930k. My 3930k with two Titans scores around 16000 with no overclock. I think you have some configuration problems
are you sure about your results?
Yes, very. In fact, as you scale up resolutions the effect increases. Downscale and there is a tipping point where the 980s look better. However, in games I find there is not a great deal in it and in many the 980s do better. Except where there are very intensive high memory utilisation textures. Very high rez Skyrim mods (4k and up) Battlefield 4 on ultra in high rez etc etc.
My 780s could not run my heavily modded skyrim without crashing simply because the textures would cause them to crash. I had similar but less pronounced problems with BF4. I never tried it with games like DAI because I sold them earlier in the year but same sort of engine so I suspect it would be the same result there. There seems to be a balancing act. Currently building and testing another new machine and it will be interesting to see how they perform but I suspect the same will be true. (X99 instead of X79)
The GTX Titan superclocked is still a beast as it still holds it's ground in certain area's ie running multiple screens due to the 6gig of memory. I do think however it was and still is after market over priced! We should commend Nvidia for getting these cards down to more realistic price for consumers!
The Titan series isn't primarily aimed at consumers. They are aimed at game companies as they need higher processing capability and memory for rendering of scenes, models, and video, this is clear when looking at cards such as the Titan Black or Titan Z. Because of this reason, they have a higher price since spending money on video cards isn't a very big deal for companies. Gamers need primarily processing speed since playing a game doesn't require quite as much raw processing power (regard the popular 780 which has a considerably smaller amount of memory and half the price tag of the Titan).
as for the companies maybe you should check Tesla computers form nvidia aimed exactly for this particular reason
I use both 980s (Previously 780s but I changed them last weekend) and Titan SLI. I still find the Titans to be necessary. I run very high resolutions with some very heavy weight mods and texture packs for some games. I can see both BF4, my heavily modded Skyrim and other games crash on both the 980s (as they did with the 780s before) in very high resolutions but the Titans do not. I can see that this appears to be due, at least in part, to the VRAM headroom but I think it is probably more complicated than that. I know quite a few folks gaming on Titans for this reason.
Most people I know who actually have Titans wonder at the scores and low MHz etc shown in most reviews. These simply do not bear out my experience in the real world nor in Benchmarks. My point being, even today, I can find no upgrade that beats them for rock solid gaming performance at all resolutions.
I have a 1070, beats all these cards ;]
erm, that was posted 2 years ago. I now have 3 machines. 2 Titan X's and am awaiting 2 1080ti which I hope will arrive next week. At last. Keep doing the necro though.
Wait so the gtx 980 beats a titan black, But can't beat a regular Titan, Is there any reason why anyone gets there benchmark's on here anymore?
