Hey, I've tried that! :) http://www.behance.net/gall...

Employer: That's wonderful, when can you start?

You: I can start tomorrow.

Employer: I was talking to the doll.

ThomasNewman • 10 years ago

You didn't really do the same thing. She used Legos and made something from scratch, you just repainted a toy you bought.

Evan Light • 10 years ago

Looking beyond the concept to the actual execution, yes, you are correct. Nothing gets by you ThomasNewman!

Joe Edmondson • 10 years ago

I think Evan Light proved how he's more creative than you, ThomasNewman. I bet your toy would be a Chia Pet® that didn't grow. Kudos Leah & Evan for your creativity and initiative! :)

Silky Szeto • 10 years ago

You just said she used Legos.

Jamie Voorhies • 10 years ago

why?

My Dang • 10 years ago

there's a fine line between innovation and creativity. both should be highly regarded. making use of something already in use gets 1 point plus for being sustainable :)

(y) Evan Light :D

Rain • 10 years ago

So adorable! Did it work for you?

Evan Light • 10 years ago

Unfortunately it didn't! I learned that day not all creative résumés have fairytale endings (not on the first attempt at least).

Rachel Eson • 10 years ago

Mine didn't work either. At the time I was thinking in working at a toy company or advertising agency for toys or games.

Lou Rac • 10 years ago

It's amazing how great minds think alike ;)
Keep up that creative strive!!

Leah Bowman • 10 years ago

This is really cool, Lou! Nice job! Much more polished than my effort.

Lou Rac • 10 years ago

Thanks Leah! I'm a designer afterall...

Yours however is made out of scratch!
Keep up that unusual creative thinking!

and keep us updated on the intern position you applied for ;)

ButterbeanB52 • 10 years ago

Starting an Advertising career by having one's resume featured in AdWeek? Not too shabby, Leah! You will go far. GL!

Kate Rose • 10 years ago

I hope she addressed her spelling mistake before sending! Otherwise she just disproved her "attention to detail".

David • 10 years ago

ahh...indispensable. took me a minute. Still, I think there's something to be said for her creativity. That 'mishap' would not stop me from hiring her.

BrandonSays#FJB • 10 years ago

When do I start? Rgds. Leah.

Leah Bowman • 10 years ago

Don't worry -- a lot has been improved since the post!

ad7am • 10 years ago

This looks great! Good for her!

JG • 10 years ago

Love it! Creativity should be in all departments of an advertising agency! Props to Leah and good luck :-)

Rachel Eson • 10 years ago

I did this too....https://scontent-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net..., I am a graphic designer doing free-lance. I used to love those sponge animals in the pill containers so I made a cut out of myself out of sponge, bought empty pill casings, manually stuffed "my spongy self" into the casing and warm water does the rest. I used a Mario illustration as the base of my drawing and used a paper doll cut out from made by Sizzix.

HZLA • 10 years ago

awesome!

evie • 10 years ago

this is creative, innovative, inspiring, and a multitude of other adjectives people who work for adweek should have in their vocabulary. but it is not "adorable." she is neither 3, nor a cat. great back-handed compliment, headline editor.

David Gay • 10 years ago

Am I the only person horrified by this article?

Are we, in this age of Austerity and the jobless recovery, now things we have to promote
ourselves as?

Alain • 10 years ago

We're speaking about this resume on our blog specialized in creative "jobseek" : (the best and the worst of them !) http://www.creative-resume.net

tylerpoppe • 10 years ago

"Basic graphic design"

BrandonSays#FJB • 10 years ago

Great. An account type with "an eye for design." Please, dear. Just keep the client happy and off creative's back.

Eli Mullis • 10 years ago

Wow, way to be a condescending jackass. Are you a little mad that someone is more creative than you?

BrandonSays#FJB • 10 years ago

More creative than I am? I wouldn't bet on it? My point is, slick, is that account types should represent the client to the creative and the creative to the client, not aspire to be creative.
