The difference between the blacks-occupied communities and these two apartheid-driven places (Orania & Kleinfontein) is that anyone can enter irrespective of race and religion - no restrictions or security personnel who follow barbaric rules as to who enters the places or not. Seperating facts from illusions will curb the mentality that the dwellers and leaders of this places are so obssesed with - living in isolation, something the apartheid system created. On record: there's no security gate in Ulundi or any other rural place created by the apartheid system, why O & K?

Circle the Oxwaggon and turn back the calendar 150 yrs welcome to Kleinfontain !

I'm so glad that the crazies are locking themselves away for once. Like a small little village for the racially retarded o.O

ANC = Ineptocracy • 4 years ago

This is not acceptable, you have to be black if you want to live in an area that is racially segregated. Oh and not only black because if you are of another tribe or ethnic background you may also not live in certain black areas, so no Zimbabweans, no Nigerians and for sure no one that will be mentally equipped to run a successful business. So in townships only blacks (our blacks) allowed.

Dillon • 4 years ago

Segregation leads to persecution. Every South African should understand this. And its the same people again. What is it with the Afrikaner and segregation/supremacy. If you want to live amongst own people, go to Europe dudes. Here, we live together as a nation. We have major problems including a government that thats also guilty of segregation (albeit economic segregation), but we are still one nation. Your segregation proves you dont care about South Africa, you only care about "your kind of people". If you deny diversity in this day and age, you have failed already.

Seriously? This is your contribution to the subject? And to top it off, you put your foot in it and embarass yourself. You realise that the Queen's language allow for words to used in different contexts right? Here's a primary dictionary def for ya, free of charge: "1. a large body of people, associated with a particular territory, that is sufficiently conscious of its unity to seek or to posses a government perculiarly its own. 2. the territory or COUNTRY itself, e.g the nations of Central America..." Hell, they even included a Grade 1 example for you. Now go play in the traffic.

Dillon • 4 years ago

What is your nationality Sir?

James • 4 years ago

Nationality is not Nationhood you twit. Go and read the transcripts of the court case between the Rehoboth Basters and the Namibian Government as the UN defined Nation again separately from State in the court case. The Basters have the same issues as the Afrikaners.

Also note that in the Constitutional Court of the UN in the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina It referred to it as a "multi-national state" as there are 3 distinct ethnic groups.

Are u really gonna argue semantics to prove ur non-point James? We can carry on forever. Does it change my comment? No it doesn't. Argue for or against my point instead of splitting hairs mate. The US pledge of allegience "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the USA, one NATION, under God..."

James • 4 years ago

:) The USA. Where do you think we imported all our liberal rubbish from? I prefer to go with the definitions given in an international court on 2 occasions which is what counts in this legal matter.

Lets agree to disagree, but when it comes to a legal argument - Orania and Kleinfontien have a legal footing for separation which we are debating and what this article is about. The article is not about semantics but the legal right which allows them to separate.

I take it you are referring to the 20 years of diversity that was preceded by hundreds of years of segregation and racial conditioning. Nope, not denying its understandable tardiness.

What Rules?

Templar • 4 years ago

Genetic diversity. Three different point mutations of the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene are responsible for familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) in about 90% of Afrikaner patients. Segregation will not help your heritage, we all need each other to change and persevere.

Your ignorance of not seeing the point indicates which ethnicity you belong to. Segregation has detrimental effects after a few generations. 1960

10,928,000 African population. How many dutch people came here on a point?

sleekar • 4 years ago

Guess the rest of white South Africans don't know who they are, if staying in Orania and Kleinfontein is what it takes. We probably come across these people everyday, at our work place or on the freeway. Camouflaged as Directors in big companies or even Ceo's, they only promote and recommend their own, perpetuating the ideologies of their forefathers; that no black man will tell them what to do. It is sad that we have to read about such communities in the news, communities that are of Christian belief, but live contrary to the word. Just hope that i don't work with the spawn of such corrupt minded primitives.

And do you find that offensive, as how I do? Then this white exclusivism must be just as offensive, surely? Or do you support white exclusivism but object to black exclusivism? That would be rank hypocrisy.

In the bigger picture, all round the world there are these types of communities, in the USA they have Mormon communities, in the east and actually all over the world now there are Buddhists Monasteries. In South Africa we have Moravians who have many such farms and communities, heck as far as I know they are the biggest single land owners in South Africa. Couple that with various traditional tribal lands, who have their separate clans and chiefs. All these communities are all based in some way on separatism, segregation or some ideology.

I do not agree personally with any type of segregation be it on tradition, history or any racial aspect be it black, white, slanted eye's, warrior zulu or warrior Apache Indian. Our veins run red, and fear of each other only manifests darkness.

At the same time everybody to there own as long as they do not try and force themselves on others.

Why all of a sudden, there is this focus in the media on these couple of hundred 'Afrikaaner?' people living on two farms is a bit concerning, and questionable. If they are not harming anybody why make a fuss. We should be encouraged that there is such diversity. Maybe they should just register as a church or something, and write a new history for themselves, one that does not necessarily have anything to do with any past. Would this make a difference, no not really, they will still be an exclusive community.

jounalists are getting lazy nowa days...same story ten amgles wtf....

HappyWhiteAfrican • 4 years ago

There are many places around here that if i show my little white face
it will be highly likely that I'll pay with my life... I accept that,

I powerfully disagree with the tarring all people with the same brush because they have a better tan, why not let these dinosaurs live in their home in peace and safety,
and Understand that all white people are not the same either.

Why force people to live with people they have very little in common with,

even people who disregard the value of a person to the point of rape and murder...

I don't like Verwoerd. I would hate to live in a world moulded by his apartheid values.

I don't like the apart hate ANC either.

Zuma can stick his divide and conquer scams up his bum

I can;t say it would be my choice, but at the same time they don't seem to be doing anyone any harm, so I reckon they should just be left alone.

Politician • 4 years ago

whats hilarious about all of this is that they have their own currency lol *laughing to the ground* but I really think they should let them be, after all quarelling with fools makes you the biggest fool...... I know Im gonna get rotten commetns from their community or supporters but all I can simply say is blah blah blah fact of the matter is you cant run away from the truth and the truth is WE ARE THE RAINBOW NATION..GET USED TO IT..now back to the currency what da hell is going on there kwaaaa might as well build your own Reserve bank.. this just made my day

Ghalib Jonker • 4 years ago

I think it is not so much "currency" as it is a method of bartering, as it is only used in Kleinfontein.

Hennie Potgieter • 4 years ago

Do you have proof that Kleinfontein has it's own currency???

JustZA • 4 years ago

SA is great but we all black and white play into the governments hands and blame each other if we just thought each other our history we see we all the same.

My thoughts exactly, politicians play us for their own selfish benefits

mmokoqama • 4 years ago

they call themselves Christians but racism run in their blood, veins and minds

The Shadow • 4 years ago

Its funny, Ive seen Black Power bumper stickers. Ive seen black is beautiful on a billboard. So if I put white power on my car would that be ok? Blacks are very good at blaming others for racism when they dont agreed with something, but the truth is they are the biggest racists of them all. White Power!!!!!!!

Free___Speech • 4 years ago

So, you call anything that isn't according to the African way - Racism? I suppose you watch too much Parliament Channel - don't you? Grow up, Bellina!

Henk Hattingh • 4 years ago

Your mind lives in a tiny world.

mmokoqama • 4 years ago

they call themselves Christians, but they have their own white place is a suprise

Free___Speech • 4 years ago

What has religion to do with that? Don't you also prefer to make decisions where and how to live - but because it comes from a white person - so it can only be Racism. You are such an uneducated tart.

unhappySA • 4 years ago

What is surprising about them wanting to live with their own kind? Why bring religion into this???, and you wonder why they want to be left alone...

Shaunie • 4 years ago

She is bringing religion because christian religion promotes living together side by side regardless of race, the christian religion brought the europians to Africa as missionaries to share the message of love and harmony

black-revolutionary • 4 years ago

"wht bring relogion itno this?"...really!! what a foolish question if you read the story well you will notice that these people mention religoin in every sentence when trying to justify their backwardness..so y dnt u ask your broers n siester y bring religion to justify racism

Politician • 4 years ago

unhappy you just like them, foolish..you cant call yourself a Christian yet you want to live alone away from everyone..we are bringing religion into this because they call themselves white Christian afrikaner,, lol this is foolishness

Politician • 4 years ago

lol its shocking lol they most probably think God is white foolishness I tell you

Sasha • 4 years ago

Blah, blah, blah...
Starting to think IOL's interest are to perpetuate racism and all issues concerned with race. The media chooses what we get exposed to, and the race card is an IOL favorite. Can we have good stories too, for example, about the white guy who's best friends are black and Indian? Not all South Africans are racist, can some of us who are that minded be presented in the media too?
