These images are taken from the drop of the iPhone 6. They are both of the iPhone 6 after having completely stopped to a still. Notice the bottom corner doesn't match with the line on the floor? Note, also, that he had not touched the phone yet in the second photo.

(You can now delete my comment, Android Authority. You guys are frauds.)

Maisonier • 9 years ago

This is fake ... here a real drop test: https://www.youtube.com/wat... and there are a lot more that show this result ...

rslh • 9 years ago

The lens cracked? I thought that and the power button are made of sapphire glass?!

slh163 • 9 years ago

HOLLY CRAP!!! you right man :O

Erik • 9 years ago

Thing is. Android authority guys are not stupid at all. If they wanted to do a fake video, it would at least look convincing. This all looks weird to me.

fasdfasdf • 9 years ago

I dunno man it doesnt seem like such a big deal. I bet the glass did start to raise and he just pushed it back and called it good. Really the only claim he made in his vid is that it didnt shatter which is true. He also said it scuffed. He probably should have said the glass started coming off and was pushed back into place. But thats a long way from calling someone dishonest or accuse him of getting paid by apple!

jmahr1127 • 9 years ago

Youre wrong and people need to calm down. If you just take a look at the pictures in the slideshow, particularly http://cdn04.androidauthori... you'll see that they didnt switch phones (screen still raised). Joshua simply didnt notice during the video.

thaesino • 9 years ago

Look, I don't think you understand what my images are. They are not in any way related to the iPhone 6 Plus that was dropped towards the end of the video. (the one with the popped off display everyone is talking about?)

My two images were taken directly from the video at around 00:42 and 00:57, respectively. They are NOT of the iPhone 6 Plus, but of the iPhone 6. If you don't see how the lower end does not line up with the lines on the floor the same way, then there is nothing I can do. You just don't like factual evidence.

Now, don't get me wrong. maybe they dropped more than just one iPhone 6 and one iPhone 6 Plus. Maybe they screwed up the edit. Was it purposefully? I don't know. What I do know, is that the phone he picks up (00:57) is not lined up in the same way with the floor as the phone he dropped (00:42). It's up to you if you want to see it or not. I'm sure others already have.

Daniel • 9 years ago

wait. nobody saw the screen slightly peeled out of the body during the last drop? the screen didn't cracked but the lcd kinda came out slightly.

Trabireiter • 9 years ago

Yes. The screen or glass definitely lifted on the last drop of the 6+.
Why has this been ignored?

B.Roode • 9 years ago

paid by apple?

thaesino • 9 years ago

Paid by someone. Or someone who was paid ordered them to do it like this.

camille • 9 years ago

Fuck Android Get Money that's what they were singing when they got paid lol...

jmahr1127 • 9 years ago

Not paid by anyone. Ok, people need to calm down. If you just take a look at the pictures in the slideshow, particularly http://cdn04.androidauthori... you'll see that they didnt switch phones (screen still raised). Joshua simply didnt notice during the video.

I don't normally comment on things like this but you're wrong. What you're seeing is an illusion of perspective. If you look at the angle of the paving gaps toward the bottom of this picture it 'appears' that these curve off at different angles in the bottom left intersection, but we know from the top down shots that the pavers are a) square, and b) straight.

In the case of the 'line' you're watching near the phone, it is not possible to clearly see the Z-distance of each of the leading corners of the phone in relation to the paving gap. This gives the impression of a difference in physical position where these isn't one. Further, the image shown above, and the first still you posted are at different orientations to the phone. You can clearly see that this picture above is of the base of the phone which makes your first still upside down. Simply put, they are taken by different cameras at different perspectives.

jmahr1127 • 9 years ago

Wrong. Ok, people need to calm down. If you just take a look at the pictures in the slideshow, particularly http://cdn04.androidauthori... you'll see that they didnt switch phones (screen still raised). Joshua simply didnt notice during the video.

thaesino • 9 years ago

You are completely right. The lcd comes off on the face-down drop, on the bottom, right hand corner of the phone. Worst part is, I can't even trust whether the phone that absorbed all the impact is the same phone he then showed us. Maybe he had 2 because he had seen in other drop tests how easily the 6 Plus had cracked.

AD_LB • 9 years ago

You are talking about 3:55 ? seems so, but when he took it, it didn't look like it...
weird.

B.Roode • 9 years ago

they edited the video

Jay • 9 years ago

Android fans editing a video in Apples favor?? Now that would be strange... they simply switch the cameras.. if the screen was unclipped it it just be pushed back in. iPhones are built a bit differently..

nevinconstantin • 9 years ago

Money money money! the only reason they would edit it.

Jay • 9 years ago

They never showed the bottom of the device to see if it was still out...

Guest • 9 years ago

Apple fanboy from iDownloadBlog. Trolling here. Nice.

Omis • 9 years ago

Why is that strange? If apple paid me to fake a drop test, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Maisonier • 9 years ago

this is fake ... here a real drop test: https://www.youtube.com/wat... I don't understand why the hell do they put this lie in android authority ...

Maisonier • 9 years ago
gokousupasayan • 9 years ago

I'm thinking it just looks like that because of the quality of the video. If you watch it frame-by-frame, you can see that the "gap" is there before it even hits the ground. So, that drop didn't create the "gap".

thaesino • 9 years ago

I'm thinking, when you see it from the angle right before this one, in the video (around 3:47-48), you can see it did come off.

Daniel B • 9 years ago

simply could be the aliasing in the camera. It's hard to tell.

Mahmood Qadri • 9 years ago

iPhone drop test by Android website?? WHY???

applebrainwashespeople • 9 years ago

omg that's great, that totally makes me want to buy one... NOT.

PeterBlood • 9 years ago

Well said as one of the predictable AndroidBrainWashedPeople crowd.

android patrol • 9 years ago

guys, remember to not feed this troll !! :D

PeterBlood • 9 years ago

Yes as well as anyone on Android Patrol, the very WORST kind of natural born troll! :)

Gosc • 9 years ago

?!

B.Roode • 9 years ago

You faked the results. You edited the video to hide the damage. SHAME ON YOU!! Not ANDROID AUTHORITY!

DCDawg • 9 years ago

Brian is correct. When I started writing for the site, I got to meet the entire Apple top brass. It was awesome.

Darcy Alexander LaCouvee • 9 years ago

Brian, I was there and I can assure you that neither phones display shattered.

ThunderCrackR • 9 years ago

Sorry, but what is this? Really! I have not expected this from your site! I will not believe in this drop tests anymore!

Zino • 9 years ago

You lost all your integrity as a tech review site because of this video. I used to love AA reviews but I just lost all respect for you guys.

First of all why did you use a very bad resolution camera for the slow motion? At around 3:55 you can clearly see that the screen comes off at the corner. Also the very obvious acting following it, it just ads up to being a fake.

Very disappointing, but maybe its for the best that you guys finally showed your true face as sellouts

FreezeGame • 9 years ago

The bad acting was like rubbing salt into a wound. "Ohhh! Did it break? Did it break? Nooo waaay! Nooooo waaaaayyyy!!!"

I just sat in disbelief, sickened by what I had just watched. Smh. Just goes to show, everybody has a price.

FG

thaesino • 9 years ago

Darcy, you seem to be telling the truth. If I quote you, you are saying "neither display shattered."

But it seems to me that even if "neither display shattered," at one point in the video (3:48) you can see how the bottom, right-hand corner of the display came off; however, when he picked up the phone, it was completely fine. The fact that this tiny little action was done on his part makes it hard to trust anything else, and you know that's how it works.

The phone absorbed all the impact from that last drop. It's quite obvious. Had you guys merely shown that the display popped off but did not crack, we would still be able to trust the rest of the video. Saying something like, "neither display shattered" may be the truth, but it is not the WHOLE truth, since you are omitting what people are bringing up and ignoring us - your readers/viewers.

PrimeKang • 9 years ago

From second hand experience, I know the damage seen partially deformation of the aluminum chassis. This absorbed energy would explain why the screen didn't crack. Just confess that you guys bent it back/popped the display back before showing us?

Mike • 9 years ago

A politician's response.
Not lying but still ignoring the main subject of discussion.

Even though this phone performed poorly in other drop tests, no one here said that the screen shattered. Can we comment about the screen separation instead?

On a different note, I can (somewhat) excuse a comparison video of the iPhone to other android devices but a drop test video fully dedicated to an iPhone on an Android focused website seems very weird to me.

Maisonier • 9 years ago

Why do you lie? ... all this people (including me) are following your web, how much money did you win? Without us all, you couldn't be doing anything of this ... and this is how you pay ... what a dick ... And I used to click on ads purposely...
I am waiting for a new droptest ...

jmahr1127 • 9 years ago

k, people need to calm down. If you just take a look at the pictures in the slideshow, particularly http://cdn04.androidauthori... you'll see that they didnt switch phones (screen still raised). Joshua simply didnt notice during the video.

djb_comments • 9 years ago

He "didnt notice" what kind of reliable review is that EVEN if it were to be true. Not noticing damage from a drop test (that analyzes damage LOL) seems like a crappy test to me.

rslh • 9 years ago

You told us to calm down 4 times already, at first I thought I was seeing glitches on the webpage. At any rate, your readers just don't like to be lied to. That is all.

A single lie to us die hard fans can chip away a lifetime of credibility.

thaesino • 9 years ago

Wow. It's a damn shame that Android Authority is getting paid by someone to edit their videos. It's true, if you look at what would be the bottom, right-hand corner of the 6 Plus, the display came off. You gotta be kidding me, man.

"...but we're technology fans first and foremost."

Yeah... my a**. Thank you for this video. At least now I know the truth and will be unsubbing from Android Authority. It's a shame other people will keep trusting you.
