Kovu was adopted; he wasn't actually Scar's son.

Sophie • 11 years ago

Thank god. I was sitting there wondering why Kiara married her cousin.

Lions can get married. c:

Jessa Nichele Moncayo • 11 years ago

But no one mentions how weird it is that Nala and Simba get married. He father isn't unknown, it's Mufasa.

RegisteredMeh • 11 years ago

Thats just over-thinking because he's the only one in the pride..

guywiththeface • 11 years ago

They're royalty. Incest is practically a given.

asexystranger • 11 years ago

And animals.

Amarok • 11 years ago

in the animal kingdom, especially in Lion Prides, such relationships would be common.

Sophie • 11 years ago

I know, this was just funny looking at it. c:

PanTheMan • 11 years ago

Kovu is technically Simba's cousin. So it's like, second cousin or something.

GenerallySleepy • 11 years ago

You're actually the closest out of anyone. Since Kovu and Simba are cousins then Kiara and Kovu are "first cousins once removed". The once removed part references the generation between them. Any children that Nuka or Vitani had would be Kiara's second cousins.

morningsdaughter • 11 years ago

Actually, it would have been her uncle...

Actually, nothing would change if he were her cousin.

Animal kingdom - Your human logic applies no longer!

Sophie • 11 years ago

WELL. Now everyone's dissing me.

Hunter Richardson • 10 years ago

Married?

Plurple • 11 years ago

it would actually technically be her nephew.

Ty • 11 years ago

Does no one understand how family lines work? Even though Kovu isn't Scar's biological son, if he were, Kovu would be Simba's cousin. Therefore, any child of Simba's would be Kovu's 1st cousin once removed. No one is the other's uncle/aunt.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

"If one person's grandparent is another person's great grandparent, they are 1st cousins once removed." According to this chart, Ahadi is Kovu's grandfather and Kiara's great-grandfather.

Genealogical line. Better?

RegisteredMeh • 11 years ago

Not just showing genealogy because it shows kiara and kovu's marriage

Guest • 11 years ago

Uuuhh... What do you mean Sarafina/Unknown? There is no other lion in pride except Mufasa...

Nightley • 11 years ago

Oh, of course Scar is there too, but no one wanted to sleep with him anyway :D

Sophie • 11 years ago

**zing**

Guest • 11 years ago

Scar is the best one.

Guest • 11 years ago

You would think that.

Guest • 11 years ago

Well, he is. He's the smartest one, has cool fur colors and a bitchy accent, and plus, he's hilariously witty. Favorite character, hands down.

Guest • 11 years ago

So... he's you. Except the fur is kind of like your hair.

Guest • 11 years ago

It's true that we both have accents and a fondness for the color green, but the similarities end there. Well, other than hair color.

Guest • 11 years ago

What about ruling the kingdom and killing (or trying to kill) your brother?

Guest • 11 years ago

...good point. Sorry, selective memory.

qwertyuiopqwertywert • 11 years ago

LOL

Ty • 11 years ago

Young male lions without a pride of their own will wander together in small groups and impregnate female lions they come into contact with. Normally the offspring of these encounters are killed by the head male lion of the pride, however. So, assuming Nala isn't Mufasa's daughter, it's very unlikely she would even be kept alive in a real lion pride.

Sammy • 11 years ago

I think people are overthinking this... It's a cartoon movie for heaven's sake! It's not meant to be 100% realistic; last time I checked, animals didn't talk.

Squick.

A series of books came out after the first movie was released that centered around Simba's son Kopa. These books included Kopa's adventures, as well as Simba's stories of the past - Mufasa's childhood, and the two kings before Mufasa, Ahadi and Mohatu. I THOUGHT Mohatu was Ahadi's dad, not Uru's, but I could be wrong. Information on the books can be found on a Lion King Wikia... thing. Also, there's one line in the second movie where Zira explains that while Kovu is NOT Scar's son, he was still hand-picked by Scar to be the next king. I don't remember where in the movie this can be found though.

Gianna • 11 years ago

You are by far the most helpful person, thank you

xocarissa • 11 years ago

You're welcome! I thank my almost unhealthy obsession with the Lion King, that I read the entire Lion King Wikia, discovered the multitude of old books and then downloaded and read them all.

Emily • 11 years ago

Where do Simba's grandparents come from? I don't remember them in either movie.

Mr. Jon • 11 years ago

Or great grandfather for that matter...

kevinthepigeon • 11 years ago

Where did they get all this information?

AND HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS ALREADY?!?!?!?!?

UtterlyBetwixt • 11 years ago

After getting so many questions about it, Disney has said that Nala doesn't have an "unknown" father, but said that it's either Mufasa or Scar.

erised31 • 11 years ago

so that part in TLK Broadway when Scar wants Nala as his mate... O.O

Mr. Jon • 11 years ago

Source?

Emily • 11 years ago

I believe the books say nala's dad was a nomad (or lion equivalant)

Nicole Jones • 11 years ago

WOAHWOAHWOAH THIS IS WRONG. Kovu isn't Scar's biological son. Kovu was taken in, not even adopted, because he's suppose to be the chosen one.

Austin • 11 years ago

According to the wiki (http://lionking.wikia.com/w... Kovu is Zira's son, but not with scar. So yeah, no incest.
