my life
My name is Jada Tabbs and I've just graduated highschool on June 5,2014. I was removed from my parents home at 17 and placed to live with my older sister, because my adoptive father was abusive. I found out my financial aid hasn't been processed .My college advisor told me to see if my parents would do my fasfa because that was the only other way I could get it done in time..I called them and they agreed to do it , then later that evening they called back saying the didn't want to be identity theft and someone to steal their information. When I asked for them to come to flint with me to do the paperwork there they refused..so for the past few weeks I've been running from place to place trying to track down my CPS worker who removed me from my home , so that I could get her statement and send to the college to acess my grants or other money I qualify for to go to school. So far I haven't gotten anywhere. My college advisor said that If I could get parent refusal forms signed then I'd be able to get a loan. But my parents refused to sign it. Now my classes are terminated and I can't go to any institution or college to further my education . I really want to get an education because I refuse to be another statistic. I am at loss because the people who took me in to give me a better life, won't even sign simple forms so that I can get an education. My education is very important to me because all my life I have done very good in school. Most importantly I feel like I have came to far to stop now .

Hey! I saw your discussion, but I could not comment! Have you heard of embryo adoption? Embryo donation and adoption is a new way to adopt, a new adoption choice! Rather than adopting a child who has already emerged from her mother's womb, embryo adoption allows the adopting family to begin the adoption journey nine months earlier with pregnancy and childbirth.

My cat is very ill with Cholangiohepatitis.
Though he is recovering well with veterinary care, the bills are getting very high.

I've set up a gofundme page for him - http://www.gofundme.com/bdbw7o

I don't have hundreds of friends on facebook(and the majority are students/no money), so I imagine I'll need more than my 'personal network'.

Any advice?

Same, I don't know that many people. But I'll do my best to help our girl get better. Even if it means posting obsessively EVERYWHERE I can.

http://www.gofund.me/Kitten...

Kane was attacked by hawks when she was very young. She was born feral and we ended up bottle feeding her and her sister when they found their way into our backyard. Her care is exhausting, but she is a very sweet kitty so all of the effort is worth it. Perhaps making video updates on youtube or creating a twitter or facebook page might help get attention for our loved ones.

It looks like the majority of people are in the same boat. Sorry, no ideas. Win the lottery? (And this comes from someone who has been close to sleeping in my car at times, only to be asked by passers-by if I was sleeping in my car with NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER OF BEING ANY HELP, just harassment. And I'm a WOMAN. You'd think WOMEN could get more sympathy?!?!?) My "personal network" would just LEAVE ME OUT THERE if that were the case!!

It does suck when people like myself are trying to raise the money that insurance won't cover for my cancer removal surgery and it's like everyone else is getting thousands and thousands of dollars for there dog or something like that I started a campaign to get the first payment for my surgery I need 1500 to put down and I have only been able to get 250 it's very depressing.

My campaign if anyone wishes to help a 25 year old to stay on this earth please donate to gofundme.com/kevinperrault-...

KRISTY WIDENER • 9 years ago

Hi! I just began a campaign and am discouraged to hear that my campaign is unlikely to do well. I am truly in a desperate situation. I can think of nothing more than getting my children back. I have read that sharing on facebook helps, but I am very iffy about doing that. It feels like I am at war with my husband's family and it getting back to them that I aired out "dirty laundry". I fear it will give them more ammunition against me.

My husband was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic so life with him and without him has been extremely difficult. I was close to giving birth with our 4th child when we BOTH lost our jobs. I feel the stress caused him to begin having episodes. Its like he is disabled and unable to function. I can't depend on him for help at all and MUST do something to reunite my family on my own.

We ended up having to move in with his mother to get back on our feet. I knew it was likely to end in disaster and it did. She verbally abused me on a daily basis. It was a nightmare, but I kept trying to be as nice as I could because we had nowhere else to go. Eventually, it all came to a head and she began to verbally attack me in front of her husband, her daughter and my children. It was horrible and I began having a panic attack for the first time in my life. She screamed at me to get out of her house. This was all over me not choosing the valentines day cards for my 4 year old daughters school party that she wanted me to choose! I gathered as much our stuff as I could and tried to pack up my children, but she locked them in her room and said that she knew I had no family, no money and no where to go and she would call Children and Family Services if I tried to take the children. She was right. I did not have enough money and I had no where to go. I had no choice but to leave them with her. I just can't bare it though. I can't see my children and I love them more than anything. I am a good mother, but all I've really been is a stay at home mom. Without my husband's financial support I am not able to pay first and last month rent, utility deposits, furniture etc... I do have a job that starts soon and even finally have more company's calling me in wanting me to interview. I am hoping for donations to get a safe and stable home set up for my children. I fear that my 5 month old daughter won't remember who I am and I am missing major milestones.

I am listing the link to my go fund me campaign and would GREATLY appreciate donations in any amount. Every penny will be used towards reuniting my family and I will post updates of our progress. I know how it is to not be able to afford to donate and also would GREATLY appreciate it if you could share the link.gofundme.com/rxc5r8g

Or thousands to make macaroni and cheese while my friend struggles to pay off medical bills (debilitating ankle injury), vet bills, cell phone bill, have money for gas to visit her dying mother. I have seen the same sad shit go on over and over again. I have also donated countless dollars and time for others and yet when I am desperate enough to ask for help, no one notices. I feel for you and I will say I have been doing research and I learned a few things: Post a video plea-these pages are over 100% more successful, update daily as discouraging as it gets-EVEN IF ITS BAD NEWS because no one is helping just post daily, add rewards-think of anything at all-a skill/your time/baked goods/art-anything! People are more inclined to donate when they are rewarded with something, research most popular phrases and use that to name your page. First of all I love your name! And secondly, don't give up-you are a wonderful friend. This is my page
www.gofundme.com/GiveforGra... help eachother. Good Luck!!!!

Do you have an attorney who knows the Disability rules? You do not have to pay the attorney up front. When you are approved, their fee, which is a set fee, is taken out before you get your money. It is worth it.

I am disabled due to complications of type 2 diabetes, which was late in being diagnosed. I have my sugar under reasonable control, though the doctor would like to see my A1c hemoglobin below 7 (it was 7.1 when I went to the doctor 9 days ago), but I was in worse shape about 18 months ago before I was officially diagnosed than I am now. My A1c was over 12 then and my sugar readings were above 250 at the time and I didn't know and when I found out, at first I was in denial. I also have had 8 brain surgeries. I can go to school and get a second bachelor's degree, but I can't stand on my feet to do a manual labor job or something like working as a cashier, or working in a cafeteria, because of the diabetic neuropathy in my toes. I'm not even 100% sure when the neuropathy started, but I know I had it long before the type 2 diabetes was diagnosed in March 2015. And my vision problems started long before that as well.

brasileiro americano - You may apply for SSD, but these benefits are for American citizens. You have to be a citizen before you are eligible for SSD. You did not mention your citizenship status. Please be sure and seek the advice of an attorney on this, the consultation should be no charge, and you don't pay unless you are granted benefits, and if you are you get a lump sum payment that dates back to your claim filing date. The attorney gets paid by Social Security - a percentage of your first payment, and if anyone tries to charge you to handle a claim for SSD they are taking advantage of you and violating federal law.
SSD also limits the amount of income you can make in a calendar year, which means if you work and go over that specified amount of money, your SSD will be cut or eliminated. In such cases it is not uncommon for you to discover that you exceeded the amount you are allowed to make and they will send you an overpayment statement which you will be responsible for paying the government back for the amount overpayed to you.
The amount you are granted and paid monthly is calculated from your past earnings history, so the more you made when you were working, the higher your payments will be. For instance, if you made $30,000 a year for a period of years and then you were disabled, your disability will be a percentage of that amount of annualized income. A person who made less than you gets paid less. So SSD is a great benefit if you can't work, but you will not become wealthy and will probably be living on a subsistence basis on what the government pays you.
You can find out more at the Social Security Administration office near you, or from an attorney who specializes in Social Security Disability claim filings. Check their website, but for the best understanding you need to go talk to either the SSA or an attorney.
These are things to consider regarding Social Security Disability.

Laura R Gullett • 7 years ago

These would be medical conditions that social security disability should approve for benefits. Once you are approved they have to pay for all the months you waited as well.

Mom To One • 6 years ago

That is not true -- there is a limit on how far back they will go to issue back pay. For example if you applied in Jan 2013 and it took until Jan 2017 to get approved, all they legally have to pay you for back pay is 2 years.

Laura R Gullett • 6 years ago

Sounds like you need a better attorney. I would never give up that fight when they made you wait that long. What really sucks is how they go to work and sit for 8 hours then get to go back home, while you are suffering and waiting forever. They go home and pay their bills within 30 days, but people who need that money can't. It's just terrible.

VieteranGunsmith • 7 years ago

Good points, but these benefits are not given to non US citizens. You should have pointed that out.

Laura R Gullett • 6 years ago

Why would non U.S. citizens expect to receive government benefits that are setup for U.S. citizens? Why would I have to point out that obvious fact? Yes I know they actually do but that is a different conversation. There isn't any reason to point out the obvious. I'm an American citizen who would be obviously talking about benefits for American citizens.

I applied to UMass Dartmouth in January 2016 to begin study for a second bachelor's degree (in the Portuguese language this time) and was accepted to start this fall (in less than two weeks) on June 15, 2016. I have only received less than 30% of the cost of me attending school there through federal student loan programs and scholarships. Since I already have a bachelor's degree and can't work using that degree at this time, I am ineligible for Pell Grant or state grants given by universities. I have scoured many scholarship websites including the one for UMass Dartmouth, and only received a $1,400 scholarship from the Portuguese department. My loan I requested is for little more than $10,000 because I am not able to borrow the full cost of my education because of loans taken out for other schools I've attended in the past. I will undoubtedly be seeking loan forgiveness for the federal loans either upon graduation or entering graduate school, as I intend to stay at UMass Dartmouth and work toward a PhD in Portuguese, which I should have by May 2022. Já falo bastante português que eu poderei começar os meus estudos de português na aula de POR 301, é dizer que eu não preciso POR 101, 102, 201 ou 202, porque essas aulas seriam fácil demais para mim.

Laura R Gullett • 7 years ago

People who are in college do many outside jobs like retail, various ones at bars, entertainment, and now more online. You should not be allowed to ask for forgiveness of your federal loans in this circumstance. Our universities are totally worthless if you can't get one single job, even part-time, with a bachelor's degree while you are still attending. I've heard of many simply ask lots of professors for work or sponsorship grants as well. If they can write it off in their expenses within the tax code, then they will give it to you. That is how our government helps foreign students.

brasileiro americano • 7 years ago

I also applied for disability in July 2015 and was turned down in May 2016, and do have a disability attorney working on the case, so I had them file a request for reconsideration. I spoke with the woman in the Disability Determination office in Columbus, OH who is handling my case there, and she said they are still trying to find an eye doctor who will do an examination for them. I explained that I need to be able to move to Massachusetts by the beginning of next month, but she just said that if I move to Massachusetts before my reconsideration case is decided, that they will transfer my case to the Disability Determination office in Massachusetts. So I have no idea whatsoever if they may be able to schedule something before I move and make a decision. I have been told that reconsideration cases usually do not take as long as initial decision cases, and that less of the reconsideration cases are denied than the initial ones are.

Laura R Gullett • 7 years ago

This is the BS I'm talking about that makes me so mad at politicians. They expect us to handle a 30-day cycle or else be punished with bad credit for the rest of our life, but at the same time, they flat out steal our tax money to pay their 30-day due dates to keep their credit rating good, while they take forever to provide what we need when we ask for it. Our political system is so inhumane as far as I'm concerned.

VieteranGunsmith • 7 years ago

The problem with a meal prepared by hundreds of passers by is that it may look good - every administrator and politician that ever occupied a seat in government tinkers with these programs - but the resulting Franken-food is unfit for human consumption.
I am generally in favor of simplifying every aspect of government and not allowing people to make a career of being in office. The big trouble is the people in charge don't want to return to being one of us once they get a taste of the government power we afford them by electing them or by the elected people who appoint them. It is these administrators that screw it all up.
The ones who get elected all have big promises they make around election time to get your vote, but some of these promises are really bad investments for us as a whole, and in the case of social welfare programs they create dependency instead of promoting individual freedom and responsibility. The SSD program is chock full of fraudulent recipients and the reason it is so tough to get into the program. There simply is no real effective way to sift out the con artists from people who legitimately need help.

Ellie bee • 7 years ago

You aren't punished for bad credit for the rest of your life. Isn't it easy to fix if you just commit? Sorry but please don't cause more panic. There are people on here who are already in a bad place because of small loans and thinking that nothing they do will fix it is too much.
