It's hard for me to keep my emotions in check- I've watched my brother and Nephew Scott over the years struggle endlessly by injuries from football- unrelenting pain body. However, a bigger heart was hard to find. His little girl will always see a hero. But we all need to realize this is the tragedy story playing behind the scenes- the ones fallen from the spotlight- they are honored on the field and in death BUT forgotten by the "NFL Leagues" when they are no longer a resource. Scott is just one but there are many- young minds with elderly dementia- the "ex-football" players who now walk with canes and some need guardians. Forgotten "life" of the tailgate party. Scott educated many and his problems pale in comparison to many ex players. Scott passed peacefully from heart failure... his body just gave out. RIP Scott- Aunty loves you

That's to bad. He was a stud. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Now a dead stud. I'm sure Mr. Ross' family appreciates your callous eulogy.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Ross family. As a San Diegan, we grieved the loss of Junior Seau two years ago. Two very tough, talented LBs to come out of USC, and more questions on the long-term effects of CTE. May they both rest in peace.

I knew Scott from being a manager on the USC football for 3 years.
That guy loved football. Seeing him hit guys in practice would make anyone think twice about joining the scout team. He gave his all at every practice and in every game. There must be a better way to protect great people, great players, from head trauma. Perhaps they could start with a weight limit. Boxing is a brutal sport, but they don't allow 275 pound giants against 150 pound lightweights.
I can hardly watch NFL football because it just seems more like a death match. RIP Scott.

Scott never had a bad word for the alumni or usc- he always praised his coaches & staff & fellow players. The "best" time of his life. the health problems started with the nfl- thank u for your words. Let others know- he passed peacefully from heart failure after attending church- no mystery- got in his truck to go home but God had other plans.

ThaiMex • 9 years ago

Where's the "Village Idiot" with his "Dementia is some nasty stuff" comments?
"Found in a Church Parking lot"...say's a lot about this young mans frame of mind.
Rest In Peace Good Man.

Scott was blessed that he was able to move close to his daughter and spent the past 3 months going to all her school functions, games, and just playing- he went to church every sunday. Yes, they make it sound rotten- but we assume he had just finished a service, got into his truck after service and went to sleep peacefully. The family was told his heart just stopped- someone thought he fell asleep in the parking lot. No conspiracy, no mystery- god took him home. He did what he needed- and always wanted- to spend everyday with his daughter who was the one who gave him that smile. I am Aunty- my brother is Scotts dad- so this is first hand info.

Come on, folks. You see the violent hits on t.v. You think they have no effect?

A friend and I were dissecting some of the collisions over the weekend, and our conclusion: not 1 in a 1000 men could withstand those types of impacts. Of course, football, from high school and beyond, weeds out the "weak," so only the incredible hucks continue on. And even they are not gods.

Sorry, I guess the word I was looking for was "hulks."

I moved to Lake Lorraine right down the street from Scott in 2004. He had two big flags out front of the house he built here. One LSU and one USC. Two of my kids were attending USC at the time and he once came over to visit. RIP SCOTT

I didn't know Scott,
But I feel like a mirror image.

My name is Scott Boucher ,
I've been diagnosed with TBI Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD and possibly CTE Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and Repeated Head injuries with Degenerative brain disease and Dementia and hearing and memory loss.

Along with two knee replacements, one left hip, chronic low back pain surgery and neck herniation.

I'm on Disability for Aniexty / Depression.

As an Athlete,
I want to be the first one to get better.

My precious wife passee in 97' and I raised my two boys all the while my symptoms began to show themselves,

And worse than that,
No one believed me,

I was a drunk or drug addict, or crazy.

My aggressive outburts, memory loss, nauseous, dizziness, blackouts, slurred speach, wearing hearing aids , blurrrd vision, ringing in the ears,
Chronic Migraines constantly 24/7,
Tripping on carpets , walking out of balance.

Yet, raising my precious boys,

Through my faith, God, my 24 yr is in the U.S.Navy, and my 23 yr has a scholarship through the Rodeo association in Mech Eng at Texas A&M.

No telling if they are scarred from losing their mother and live with my symptoms from TBI of Playing Football.

Like Scott,
I would rather not be found in a parking lot, dead.

I've asked the NFLPCF and NFLPRA for Neurological assistance,
But only to get sent to facilities that didn't happen to have that on the itinerary.

I'm very Grateful for their efforts,
But,
They failed because the the facilities I was staying at ,

Let everyone down,

There was no proper procedure intake process of medical protocols.

It's sad because it became all about how much $ Money $ these treatment centers could get out of the NFLRPA fund,

And forgot about why the Wounded Elite retired Athlete was there in the first place.

Whether it's for TBI Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD and possibly CTE Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and Repeated Head injuries symptoms or Degenerative brain disease or Dementia or ALS or emotional help.

I just got out of the hospital last week for Afib and had my heart shocked back into rhythm and implanted the Newest version of a heart monitoring device.

So, R.I.P. Scott,

You are one the Elite few who have graduated to Eternal Peace and Joy,
See ya soon,

Scott Boucher
