Careful, Mr Wester. if Sergio says sell Maserati-badged Fiat 500L's, that's what will happen, with or without you. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo wanted to limit production of Ferraris and is now "pursuing other interests."

I highly doubt that what he's saying hasn't been green-lighted by Marchionne. I mean, this was part of their 5-yr plan presentation, it's not something that Wester just pulled out of his hat.

Webster may be safe for the time being. However, Marchionne is tasked with increasing global sales by 60 percent, and profits fivefold (!).
The pressure for profit at FCA, and the Maser's competitors moving downmarket in search of market share and CAFE, could make a Fiat 500L-derived Maserati a reality.

Dear Chrys, I live close to Grugliasco, Turin, where Maseratis are produced. Now we see prototypes very silent of Maser's in the streets, we think hybrid plug-in. This for the CAFE, we think here. Bye bye...Marco :)

A few thousand plug-in hybrids will change the CAFE calculation considerably. I'm sure the math isn't lost on them. Considering that FCA will have a plug-in hybrid minivan on the market next year one would think others cannot be far behind. It would seem to be the most viable answer for brands like Maserati and Ferrari.
