I totally agree with The Commentator re BDS and have been a fan of Prof. Michael Curtis since my undergrad days so it's unfortunate that the important points in this article are undermined by so many factual errors. It takes a second on the internet to see that Norwegian Cruise Line is based in Miami Dade County, Florida and the Norwegians deserve no credit whatsoever for the liner's correct stance. On the contrary, Norway is one of the worst offenders in Europe re boycotts of Israel and this deserves highlighting. The errors re the Co-op are too numerous to list but as correlation does not equal causation, most of the detail here is irrelevant i.e. the Group is in enormous trouble for multiple reasons and whilst Prof Curtis may take some satisfaction in this, the reasons have nothing to do with BDS or its ethical stance. (The farms and pharmacies, not the supermarkets are up for sale at the time of writing, the new chief exec did resign but not because of the losses etc etc). I would like to express my admiration and thanks to SFI who are a shining example to all.

You can't mess with God's chosen people and expect to prosper..Go Israel..God is for you..who can be against you!

Sussex Friends of Israel is all that and more . Time and again they have wrong footed the local BDS with a combination of humour , music , social media and much more . Tomorrow Kay Wilson will be there to give her support . Many of us will make the journey from London and the provinces tomorrow to take part in the ' They tell lies , we bring pies ' and Hamantaschen as part of a Purim Extravaganza

The BDS have been reduced to at best 10-12 hard core Marxist haters . Tomorrow they will face upwards of 100 members of the community united in their love of Israel and determination to see off the hate mongers and fascists .
Kol Hakavod SFI . The fight back is alive and well and resides in Brighton UK

Yes...getting back on the subject... last Saturday was a resounding success and the Sussex Friends of Israel supporters totally overwhelmed the pathetic bunch of BDS bigots who were left to half-heartedly bleat their anti-Israel slogans and get drowned out by rousing united choruses of 'Go home bigots we don't want you any more'. Sussex Friends of Israel have proven time and again that if you stand up to these hate groups with determination and imagination, they will no longer have it their own way, and the public (who are largely disinterested) will at least see that the BDS do not represent the local community and are strongly opposed by another group...something that does get them asking questions.

What is also happening is that Israel supporters from around the UK are coming down to Brighton to join with Sussex Friends of Israel on a Saturday, not just to be united together, but to catch the fire and take something back with them so they can make a positive stand against these idiots in their own locality...SFI is proving to be an inspiration to many people who realise something must be done that involves effort and determination.

they should be told that their medical care is Israeli and they should be given an opportunity to boycott it and if they don't we have a duty to tell the world.

Well as you all know or might not know this, Arabs are not allowed to disembark in Israel when ships dock there... As per Israeli authorities they are threat to national security.. I work as a receptionist in a cruise line so I know what I am talking about. + Israelis visit Tunisia every year to visit the synagogue of Djerba without problems, now its not the first time the local authorities denies disembarkation to certain people, Greece for example always denies it for Turkish passengers. And let me mention that the Tunisian minister of tourism was denied boarding in Israel as they asked her: do you have Israeli passport? no. Are you Jewish? No. You are not welcome here... So its only alright when Israelis do it or what?

Cpt_Justice • 10 years ago

You mean the way Jews - not just Israelis - are not allowed in lots of Muslim countries? You mention "Tunisia" like that makes the overall climate ok! There's a REASON Israel can't afford to let casual Arabs into her country (if I even believe your story). Can you possibly guess what that reason might be...?

BornNutz • 10 years ago

There wa 700000 jews in north africa before the creationof Israel, no one bothered or forced them to do anything, i have 2 native Tunisian jewish friends, they grew up in Tunisia, studied and lived there now they work in Canad nd France. There still around 4000 Jews in north african countries, if they were harrased im sure the media won't hide it!! Israelis still come every year to Tunisia to pray in the synagogue of Djerba, no one bother them.. Israeli tourist still go to Egypt for vacations... So what you gonna say?? The reason Israel can't afford Arab tourists is because they are terrorists?? Isn't that discrimination?? How about me im Arab im not terrorists and i am not willing to harm anyone is it okay for them to deny me entry?! If you say yes don't even bother arguing about visas with me

Julean • 10 years ago

What is the reason for the decrease in numbers of Jews in North Africa and the Middle East? They were 700 000 and now they are only 4 000 Jews in North African countries. Quite a drop, I would say. Does it perhaps have something to do with the way Muslims are targeting Jews worldwide as they wage their psychotic unholy war on them, everywhere?

geronimoooo4 • 10 years ago

alexa44 • 10 years ago

geronimoooo4 • 10 years ago

LOL

what on earth does this nonsense have anything to do with the article??

and also: so what? do you even have a point or something?

maybe you should wear more hats and caps on that cruise liner, the sun hitting your head all day long, obviously can't be good for you

Israelis visit Tunisia?

10.March.2014 - Israeli tourists on cruise prevented from disembarking in Tunis

"Israeli tourists traveling on a Norwegian cruise ship were prevented from disembarking at a stop at the Port of Tunis.

The Israeli passengers were told quietly by staff aboard the Norwegian Jade that they were not welcome per the Tunisian government during the stop, B’nai Brith Canada said in a statement Sunday."

BornNutz • 10 years ago

They were told by staff not by local authorities.., the minister of tourism made it clear that they were denied entry because they don't have visas

geronimoooo4 • 10 years ago

i wonder what 'BornPutz' will say now.....

Leocrumb • 10 years ago

What a load of crap, citizens from nations who refuse diplomatic relations with Israel like Saudi Arabia or Syria are one thing. But no one is denied entry on the basis of ethnicity or religion. An Arab Muslim from Sweden, Jordan or India is just as welcome as a Christian, Mormon or White skinned person from those countries. STOP SPREADING LIES.

nb. I think you should start every sentence with"I work as a receptionist in a cruise line so I know what I am talking about" :)

BornNutz • 10 years ago

Its not load of crap, why would Tunisia make any diplomatic relations with Israel after their strike on its land in October 1985, you can look it up its called operation wooden leg. And in 2000 Tunisia shut down its offices after the aggressions of Israelis against Palestinian people as a protest.. And the ministry of tourism just released a statement that those Israelis had no visa!! What did you expect? And how do you explain that Jews visit Tunisian synagogue in Djerba every year if what you said is true? Cut the bs

Julean • 10 years ago

so only the Israelis on this cruiseliner had no visas then?

Harvela • 10 years ago

Not Israeli Jews sunshine .

Leocrumb • 10 years ago

I Think you are upset because a Norwegian cruise line forced you to look in the mirror.

Leocrumb • 10 years ago

Now you really reveal your true colors :)
The Tunisian Government were harboring a terrorist organization in 1985 after the PLO executed 3 Israeli Civilians on a Yacht. The mission attacked the PLO headquarters, there is no hiding place far enough from the reach of the IDF if you are a terrorist. On your original point Arabs are never refused entry on the basis of ethnicity, only on the basis of nationality.

BornNutz • 10 years ago

Lol, the same guy who carried king David hotel bombing became a prime minister of Israel!!! And by international law ita not aloud to attack a country without UN permission.. Because as per your logic, Najad was considered terrorist, do u think it would be okay if they strike the Venezuelians because he was there?? U are a bunch of morons

As it should be.

"We're Bigots........., that's why we boycott Israel"!
"We're Dumb.........., that's why we boycott Israel"!
"We're Selective......, that's why we boycott Israel"!

It's time to spread that message!

"the British Co-Operative Group, an organization close to the British Labour Party, became the first major European major supermarket chain to end trade with companies that export goods from Israeli settlements".
Thanks for letting me know that. I've already convinced many of my Labour Party-hating friends not to shop at the Co-op because they give money to the Labour Party.
Hopefully I'll be able to put a few more people off shopping there when I explain that by shopping at the Co-op they are actively undermining Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East.
I'd urge other people to do the same.
