agreed here also, though we have to report it as it is.
Sorry mate, I didn't mean it as a criticism of your reporting. Good work!
All good, not taken that way at all!
couldn't agree more - it is no wonder these kids are going to extreme lengths (steroids) now days. We shouldn't lose sight of what they are at that school for - unfortunatly it seems most schools are.
Think you might have been fed some dud information there Robert Matthews , for the ACGS paragraph you mentioned that Schafer would be playing in the back row.. I believe you might have mis-intrepreted, Schafer plays back 3 as in wing/fullback.
In addition to that fact, word on the street is he tore his ACL a month or 2 ago. Having just been through the same pain myself, I know the recovery time can be anywhere between 6-12 months.
Or is there another Schafer I haven't heard about? Great piece anyway, can't wait for the video highlights from around the parks :)
Thanks King, back three was the intended description! Didn't know about the ACL though - poor bastard.
Unfortunately we won't be able to throw up the video pieces this year - a few coaches have asked that that stuff be kept top secret 'til season's end, until we get to a point where all teams' content is shared, and publically viewable, equally.
We'll definitely do a mashup or similar come season's end, though!!
Interesting. It does make sense!
When I upload highlights of our 'very important' U11s team (tongue in cheek) we have actually considered not doing it because we didn't want the other teams seeing our 'set-moves' lol. I'm serious - and U11s is not suppose to be competitive :)
So yes, I can then fully understand why coaches of 1st XV teams would not want highlights to be shown.
U11s - love it!
Great work Robert, as usual. Just await your formidable video skills now, the mashups with music you did for a certain school last year and for each team were exceptional.
I enjoy GPS rugby almost as much as S15! The standard of play has evolved to a very high one IMO, and the refs generally let the games flow well. Such a good atmosphere on a Saturday arvo at most games, love it! Usually a fine ad for rugby.
As a Churchie parent, I have to say: go the blue and grey!
Thanks RH, good to see some colours to the mast! You're right in that Schoolboy standard has evolved. I remember the glory days of starring individuals ie: Karmichael Hunt, Genia, Horwill, and of course Pocock running at 12 outside Quade (a sight to behold...) but I feel now that team play and maturity is becoming more prominent - great to see!
Re: the videos, unfortunately we won't be able to get the same level of content up this year, for reasons that I have to respect. Check out my comment above, replying to TheKing.
Man I hate what school boy rugby has become. That statement, "XXX school has really recruited well", just sounds wrong. It's not a professional competition. How can a school be proud of a bunch of players who aren't products of their system. School rugby use to be a process. They took the natural talent they had and developed it.
