I gazed at computer last night and had to check just in case Gracie changed her mind LOL
A great season for me to know more and love more the majestic birds from Eagles to Osprey to the adorable Puffins.
Started in 2013 and each year makes me feel more in one with them all! Soon I think I may even be sprouting feathers myself! Enjoyed reading all the posts from others who have the same love....May pop in occasionally but will meet up again on the flip side 2019!

Defab_Isle_of_May • 5 years ago

I keep checking as well... It's so odd not to see anyone in there. I'm beginning to feel that Grace shaped hole everyone is talking about. I was too euphoric before, just because it's so so sooo good for her to be so healthy and have successfully fledged. Now I get sad...

Keenan and maybe Isabel on the berm. Researching... 11:05 a.m. Sun. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Seem to be looking under the rocks, maybe for any remaining pufflings?

Good morning, Gracie! Sending my prayers for your safe journey from here on. ❤️ I'd like to share this sad but beautiful song here as I think it is fitting in a way. https://youtu.be/1_eoXUMVkOI

Very nice, thank you! :)

Flora • 5 years ago

You are welcome! I've shed many tears listening to this song in the past few years at different times especially after my little heart dog got her angel wings.

Does anyone know who guessed the correct date of the fledging? Who ever did, great job by predicting the date.

Kathy Mensinger • 5 years ago

I think it was mosaic world. Not sure if I have the full name correct.

msmar • 5 years ago

Finally found it . You are correct, Kathy. Mosaic_world predicted Sept 1.

aprilowl • 5 years ago

Seabirds floating in distance.. Wonder what they are, any ideas? Puffins? If the puffins stay away, I don't see any reason for Billie and Willie to return to lay claim to the den since there will be no one around to show there ownership to.. They are late for their journey in any case. Bon voyage sweet puffins! https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Defab_Isle_of_May • 5 years ago

I agree, they didn't come back after the unclaimed breakfish... And it makes sense. I actually think puffins are very intelligent, so they probably know that there are no other puffins checking out their burrow.

Defab_Isle_of_May • 5 years ago

My fiancée and I have a scrap book for each year of our relationship and last year's issue saw our first puffling that we watched together, Conrad. This year, Grace will probably get at least as much space in the book. What do you think of these snapshots as a selection?

Chip T • 5 years ago

love them!!

spangles • 5 years ago

DGinMaine • 5 years ago

They are all fabulous! Thank you for sharing so many interesting stories and pics this season. I'm sad it's over but happy in knowing that our little puff ball will be just fine out on her own. ♥

Defab_Isle_of_May • 5 years ago

You too! You can bet I'll be here next season. I hope these cameras will be here forever, honestly.

lib post • 5 years ago

Yes, think they will be too. Puffins are here to stay. They are in the North Carolina zoo, so soon will go over and see those puffins.

lina/oh • 5 years ago

I thought puffins do not do well in a zoo. Are these puffins that can't survive on the sea?

aprilowl • 5 years ago

Fantastic! :)

I remember what NoahsArk used to post after the fledge..... Noah, I hope it's okay that I post it for you, is it correct?

Chip T • 5 years ago

Yes we will all be thinking of her!! Thanks for such a sweet song.

Noahsark • 5 years ago

Thank you Ama! ❤️

Noahsark • 5 years ago

Oh Ama this put me to tears. 😢😢😢 Another baby off to sea to start a new adventure. We have to let go but hold close to our hearts. Our Pal returned to us and he warmed our hearts and made us proud. We have the same hope for Gracie. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Ama for posting this. Our sweet sistah Flying Finn told me.
I check in once and a while and see familiar faces here and I’m happy! 😍 You’re never far from my thoughts my puff sistah! ❤️❤️❤️

spangles • 5 years ago

I love this! I loved that film I really must watch it again!! Is that Gracie singing about her Tern chick friend?

Maine Girl • 5 years ago

Love this Ama , thank you for posting for all of us :))) Our Grace will be out there under the pale blue light!!❤❤🐧

ILoveBirds • 5 years ago

Hi AMa, I saw Stig's video on the other site and also here, in the basement below one of my posts from earlier. I love the music and the video was very well done, it really captured the moment, it is one of the best examples of a fledge I think we have ever seen since we have been watching here. It was nice to see his first video with Grace flying off via the EV Cam as well, I hadn't seen it from that view before. Please thank Stig, he is indeed an expert in making videos and I always look forward to them.

Now until next year. I will be waiting.

sfdcubfan • 5 years ago

Any fledglings this evening?

ILoveBirds • 5 years ago

Hi sfdcubfan, I haven't seen any the last 3 or so hours. p123 said there have still been adults bringing fish to other burrows on the Berm during the day, so likely some lings are still around. When we saw previous fledges they were around 8-930 ish PM Seal time, but then Grace fledged just after midnight, so I guess we could still see one tonight.

shanta • 5 years ago

Good morning/evening, ILB! One of the pufflings must comes out here, parents came several times. Sorry, could not answer you about fledglings from 25th Aug ... it's too far down in the basement. In the meantime maybe you've seen my clips and can tell me what to think about #3 ... fledgling or another bird.

https://uploads.disquscdn.c...https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Sommer • 5 years ago

You two must have xray vision - darn! Curious to see how many more Puff's there are?!

shanta • 5 years ago

Nope, heard the parents flying in ... the microphone must be nearby. Few are still there, but I did not count them. Was searching for Billy or Willy with breakfast for her fledged little Grace.

ILB • 5 years ago

I think there is a puffling down there, maybe the kid of the one they call Hercules.

ILoveBirds • 5 years ago

The second picture looks like a adult with fish going down towards the burrow.

shanta • 5 years ago

Yes, that's one of the parents. Have shortened your name to ILB and now have seen we have the name on board LOL. ILoveBirds, have you seen the clips? If not here is #3 of the fledglings from 25th Aug.. I think it is a Puffling but I'm not 100% sure. It jumps down from the right side to the bd bottle and it takes a bit time then comes out on the left side of the bottle
https://youtu.be/qnYiEfbjAKg

ILoveBirds • 5 years ago

It seems as if my Disqus account with ILB took over for 1 minute, then my explore name came back suddenly. It's happened before with no explanation, and I do nothing to make it happen. I can see why you have the ? symbol next to the word Fledgling, it is indeed difficult to tell if it is a puffling, and I have watched now 3 times. The color contrast of the bird seems right for puffling, but the movement and flight seems more smooth, like a bird with less weight (such as the bird in front of Grace's burrow last night). Wow, that is a difficult one to decide. Have you shown it to p123?

shanta • 5 years ago

TY! No, I did not post these videos ... did not want to confuse with "old" fledglings while everyone was waiting for current pufflings and Grace. Maybe puffin123 see it here and tell us his opinion.
Fledgling #1 is also ? ... think it's a puffling for 80%.
Oh my gosh and to figure out how many fledglings I've seen ... many! LOL. Could you count them? On BEcam 2-3, problem is if the puffling disappears behind a rock you don't know is it a new on or not.
Big D is for me also a problem, can see only few very old comments about bears and nothing from the Puffins. So not longer I can give an answer to an old comment if there are many posts and all is far far down in the basement.

ILoveBirds • 5 years ago

I haven't seen the video for #1, perhaps you can post into reply. 3 nights ago we had maybe 5 or 6 pufflings moving on the Berm within an hour, I could not keep track. At one point in time we could see 3 on the Berm at the same time. Possibly, instead of 5 or 6 individual pufflings, it could have been 3 or 4 pufflings whom were disappearing and reappearing in a different location of the Berm, making it seem as if there were more. They were taking their time, maybe were confused, and I only saw one fledge completely. Were you there to watch? I wonder how many were really there that night, and how many really fledged.

shanta • 5 years ago

Yes and I'm so happy that I did not fall asleep. It was amazing to see more than one puffling outside of his burrow and it was not really possible to say how many pufflings were seen. Fortunately they fledged very early in the evening and I hope will find it again in all my recordings .... till now had no time to check. Every day so many things happens ... now little Grace has fledged and hopefully I've a bit more time.
Okay here is fledgling #1 from 25th Aug. I could not figure out from were he came. He sits on the left side middle on a stone and hard to see at the beginning
