Let me get this straight, someone (illegal) breaks into my house (country) and I'm going to pay him to leave? How does that even make sense?

Tom Sawyer • 9 years ago

We could certainly send their home countries the bill...

FXSTC • 9 years ago

I suspect that the US has increased it's foreign aid since 2011, but at
that time we were giving these countries a total of $2,254,800,000.00
annually.

(El Salvador $280,800,000.00, Honduras $624,000,000.00, Mexico $958,200,000.00 & Guatemala $391,800,000.00).
I say that we at least reduce the amount of foreign aid by what it's
costing American tax payers to handle these people!

Guest • 9 years ago

No, we are bribing them to take them back.

fouilleur • 9 years ago

Then what...we pay the bill with the foreign aid we ship them?

glorybeago22 • 9 years ago

We put them in buses then drop them off ten miles from the border. Then we make sure they can't come back by protecting the border. Militias will soon take matters into their own hands. But then again this is the Obama plan. Chaos, lots of it, bankrupt the country, take away hope, jobs, money then bring in Islam.

Let me get this straight, someone (squirrel) breaks into my house (toaster) and I'm going to make a cup of coffee? How does THAT even make sense.

What a surprise! Your false analogy doesn't make sense!

Alakrun • 9 years ago

3rd option, their life.

BCGee • 9 years ago

If you and I were in their shoes, I trust we'd be doing the same thing.

This brings us to the matter of compassion, concern for our neighbors and fellow human beings.

mj1993 • 9 years ago

yes that sounds great, but we have a country with dwindling resources, increasing massive debt, underfunded schools, an exodus of middle class jobs, and 300 million guns....where's the compassion for future generations? Meals on wheels has been cut to the bone....by the way meals on wheels isn't just dropping off food to the elderly, I live in NYC and volunteer often when you drop off a tray of food you are the only person that elderly lady has spoken to that day and maybe the only person she ever speaks to (i say she because on my route its all elderly women who have outlived all of their loved ones if they ever had any, meals on wheels workers are trained to spot health problems and quite often workers find dead people who have been dead for days because there is no one else to check on them.....im as liberal as they come but i'm not an ideological fool, if you're gay and want to get married I'm all for it, women's reproductive rights - i'm on board, but this is willful long-term economic suicide not to mention destroying our social safety net

BCGee • 9 years ago

Didn't Jesus feed 5000 with a few loaves of bread and two fish--and weren't there twelve baskets of leftovers?

Oh you of little faith.

Have you read the story Jesus told about the rich man and Lazerus, which is found in the Gospel of Luke?

mj1993 • 9 years ago

I'm an agnostic and none of that has anything to do with the economics of the situation

Donald Ham • 9 years ago

BCGee - We certainly could use a little help from Jesus today, couldn't we? Unfortunately for us, Jesus is DEAD!

BCGee • 9 years ago

Haven't you heard?

Jesus was, in fact, crucified, and died; but, he rose from the dead on the third day.

We know this because of the witness and testimony of many righteous and respected people--people who despised lies and anything false, who were willing to suffer unspeakable torture and death, in order to bear witness to the truth about Jesus and his resurrection from the dead.

For this reason (and by the same power that raised him from the dead) there is hope for everyone, no matter how serious or hopeless the problem.

How else could Christ have helped countless lives, during the past 2000 years, when no others could help?

By the way, who's going to save you from death and the grave?

Life is short, and death is certain.

Donald Ham • 9 years ago

Well, if Jesus is alive today, you must be one of the few who have seen and talked to Jesus lately. BTW, do you hear other voices, too?

Nothingnew • 9 years ago

No he's not. Even if he was at least he's remembered you won't be.

Tony Pacino • 9 years ago

Amen to that!!

obviously you never took Eco 101.....otherwise you would know how ridiculous your statement is..smfh

mj1993 • 9 years ago

the dwindling resources are from more people taking a slice of the pie.....so instead of spending on wars we will start to pay down our 17 trillion dollar debt(logical)....oh no wait a minute lets borrow more money to give to someone else?...if you can't understand that then we as a country will eventually fade to black like countless others...its just economics, its doesn't have to do with race, humanity, or anything else...its just about how much can we borrow to solve another countries problems, this country has been on the decline for 30 years,,,babyboomers are retiring in droves which means their incomes won't be as much which means an even smaller tax base...college graduates have an atrocious employment/underemployment rate......smfh

obamalies • 9 years ago

We can't pay for Mexico and South Americas problems. We are already broke haven't you noticed? Your bud Obama keeps racking up the debt to end short term recession.

Vet Zero • 9 years ago

Caused by your buddy, George W Bush.

BadNews • 9 years ago

Its irrelevant who caused it. Fact is we are 17 Trillion in debt and Obama spends as if money grows on trees.

Thom Clark • 9 years ago

No, you had better go further back. The bank crises was caused by Clinton's idiocies. We were attacked by Terrorists because Clinton missed Bin Laden with a cruise missile.
Turns out Bush WASN'T at fault.

We pay plenty in foreign aid and our own people are in need of food, housing, medical care, education. How is this more important ? CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.

BCGee • 9 years ago

When the Apostle Paul wrote that charity begins at home, he was writing to those who were professing to be Christians, who were neglecting to care for their own families. Paul wrote that those who do such are "worse than unbelievers and have denied the faith [in Jesus Christ]". I need not tell you what it meant to Paul to deny faith in Christ Jesus. It meant eternal condemnation, destruction, Hell.

After Cain took the life of his brother, Abel, God asked him where his brother was. (Of course God knew exactly where his body was buried.) Cain responded to God, saying: "Am I my brother's keeper?" God didn't even dignify this foolish question with a response, because of course we are our brother's keepers. (Geneisis 4)

Jesus said on the Day of Judgment, whether we spend eternity in Heaven or Hell depends upon whether we fed the hungry, clothed the naked, and visited those who were sick and imprisoned. "And then they will say to Jisus, 'Did we not preach in your name', Jesus...and Jesus will then say to them, 'Depart from me into outer darkness; for, I was hungry, and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me noting to drink, I was naked an you never clothed me, I was sick and imprison, and you never visited me'."

See: The Gospel of Matthew.

These illegals do not have any concern for us they are all out for what they can get and any way they can get it!!

BCGee • 9 years ago

I understand what you're saying. But I must say, I'm sure glad that I'm not in their shoes--or I'd probably be trying to get into this country, too.

mj1993 • 9 years ago

and if you were in their shoes you would be helping to shrink this countries social safety net......

BCGee • 9 years ago

"Do not argue with a fool, otherwise it will be difficult to tell which one is the fool and which one is not."

(A Hebrew Proverb, from the Bible)

mj1993 • 9 years ago

Who's arguing? i'm just stating economics 101.....its a fact poor people take more in public resources than they pay into our social safety nets....it doesn't matter race, creed, or color

BCGee • 9 years ago

First, I suggest you take a basic Economics course, and read the textbook carefully. This, alone, will be enlightening. And, if that is not enough, I suggest you take a second course and read a second, more advanced economics textbook.

As you will see, there is no one, definitive theory in economics; the models often fail to explain, predict, and offer viable solutions to problems; and, given the increasing complexity of the world today (e.g., the global market and countless other variables), existing models fail to provide an adequate means of resolving the current problems--hence and increasing number of new economic models.

mj1993 • 9 years ago

yes i know there are different economic theories but our economy is based on capitalism as is the economies of most countries, as well as the global economy with the exception of North Korea and a few others.... so my facts from the Chief Budget Office are still valid...also just because other economic theories exist doesn't mean one isn't more viable than the other ceteris paribus furthermore there are PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS that are most certainly not up for debate know matter what theory you favor me, myself i deal in reality(which is what I stated above) ..so try again

Why not go to Panama or Costa Rica? They are a lot closer. Lot of Americans are retiring there.

BCGee • 9 years ago

I'm sure they have their reasons.

Perhaps it has something to do with the ruthless drug cartels, corrupt politicians and police, and selfish and self-serving dictators.

I also suspect it has something to do with bone-crushing poverty and hunger, and the realization that America has it a lot better than they do.

What would you do, if you were in their shoes?

kathy • 9 years ago

I know what they do. They tell all their family to come here. Everything will be given to them and if it isn't they scream racism.

kathy • 9 years ago

Why go there, everything is going to be given to them here. I know plenty of illegal immigrants who work and draw full state benefits for their american born kids.

Alakrun • 9 years ago

No sorry, I wouldn't toss my kid into a foreign country by himself just because there's a chance he'd have a better life.

BCGee • 9 years ago

That just goes to show you how good we have it, that we don't have to consider such a dire move; and, that just goes to show you how grim conditions are there, that a parent would do this.

There's a verse of Scripture in the book of Jeremiah, where the prophet Jeremiah writes about how the mother deer had abandoned the baby deer (fawn). Jeremiah's point is disturbing, because life has to become grim and creation begins to break down, when people and animals do things, which are against their instincts and nature.

Of course sin in Jeremiah’s day had done just this, and sin in our day is doing the same thing.

I trust you know what came next in the account of Jeremiah, Isaiah and Ezekiel.

You do know what happenend next, don't you?

Alakrun • 9 years ago

Yeah no I have no idea because I'm not religious and don't try to apply fairy tales to real life situation. Maybe that's why these parents are doing it, they all think that if they send their kids to America that rich people will adopt them and they can live the good life like little orphan Annie.

BCGee • 9 years ago

Fairy tales is an unfair characterization of the Scriptures. Many believers (like me) believe that many of the stories of the Bible were never intended to be taken literally. These stories, however, convey profound truths, which Israel learned the hard way were true.

It was here that the Hebrews learned the high ethical teachings, which are contained in their Scriptures. No religioin ever before came close to such high ethical teachigs, nor did any religion ever beofe present such a high view of humans.

Even the Greeks and others understood their myths to convey a truth, which would be true, over, and over, and over....

Something drove the Hebrews to a conclusion which had never before, during, or after been believed.

The Hebrews, who once were polytheists and worshiped idols, like all the rest of the world, came to the conclusion that there was one God, not many, and that this one God was different from all of the gods of mythology--and, he wasn't even a god.

The Hebrews understood their God to be a vital life force, and that the central quality of this force was holiness. The Hebrews learned that to violate God's holiness (to commit an
offense against one's neighbor--to sin--would result in severe consequences.

The early Christians similarly were convinced of this--but they were also convinced that this God made his presence known in and through the man, Jesus. And the early Christians
were convinced that this man who was crucified, was the son of God, and he was crucified for their sins.

So convinced and convicted were these people of this truth and reality, that they were willing to suffer unspeakable torture and death, rather than renounce their faith in Jesus
Christ.

Remember these were good, honest, and respected people, who bore witness to the reality of Jesus Christ.

I, too, believe in this Jesus Christ. I have found his teachings to be true, just like the things the Hebrews learned were true, before Christ came. I trust that what Jesus taught us about death, the grave, and he afterlife is true too.

mj1993 • 9 years ago

ok great you're not a fundamentalist to bad you're not a realist either

BCGee • 9 years ago

I believe you meant to use the word, too, not to.

Realism is at the very heart of the faith of the Hebrews and Christians. See: Socrates' teachings on what is true (truth) and real, as presented by his student, Plato. See: also what Plato's student Aristotle wrote, regarding these matters.

Perhaps you should do some reading. I suggest you consider opening the Bible, before you speak as an authority about matters of which you obviously are ignorant.

Incidentally these renown philosophers believed in the divine and were deeply religious. But you're, no doubt, wiser than they.

There is a Hebrew Proverb, which says: Instruct a wise person, and they will add this to their understanding; but correct a fool, and they will attack you.

Again, the Hebrews were right, as was evidenced by your responses.

Jesus warned us not to cast pearls before swine.

mj1993 • 9 years ago

oops i'm sorry i forgot to use too instead of to on a comment board.....that discredits all of the economic facts i've posted(sarc).....i'm not wiser than anyone that says i'm not but i am realistic, pragmatic, and I tend to listen to facts and not ideology, The CBO says an immigration bill will depress wages, increase unemployment, and overwhelm our social safety net...where's your compassion for impoverished legal citizen's of America? Also I don't remember any ancient philosophers that have decided economic policy recently
