But at this point, enough people have opted out traditional relationships that there's a sizable market for these games to cater to, and as they get more compelling to compete for that market, it can only grow in size.

I'm not sure if it's healthy for people to use technology to meet their emotional needs, because it seems to take the idea of escapism to an unhealthy extreme, but at a certain point (once AI progresses, and once technology can simulate the sense of touch), I can see this kind of software being therapeutic and having an overall positive influence. Right now, we're only seeing the beginning.

You'd be surprised how many people go out of their way for a dating sim in Japan though.

Sort of interesting - I mean, it's cool that someone (ANYONE) is working on making more convincing, more interesting & engaging game characters. There are way too many people focusing just on gfx, and that alone is not going to push games ahead for this next generation.

On the other hand, this is the Tekken Team, and that's weird. Also, this is Japan, and that's weird too. Ever since the Rift has become available there, it seems like everyone has just been trying to make virtual girlfriends a thing... which is... not cool, Japan. This kind of thing is almost "legitimizing" that kind of weird stuff. Don't cross any weirdness line here, Harada - step carefully.

And your point is? How is this legitimizing anything? Is developing or playing a game like this going to make you a sexual predator? If so, then is shooting in games legitimizing murder? Is everything in GTA legitimizing and encouraging hijacking, stealing, robbing and killing innocent people? Ultimately, games are games and it's just fantasy.

Also, not much info has been provided yet. How do you know there's going to be sex involved? If anything, based on the footage, it's like visiting a host/hostess bar and interacting with the host/hostess there. Even if there is sex, what's wrong? Are you actually raping or molesting somebody while wearing the virtual headset? With regards to your point about Hatsune Miku, is she a real person? Are you condemning people's fantasies now even though they are not doing anything to hurt anybody in real life? People who are perfectly fine in the head can separate what's fantasy and reality and they should be able to do whatever they want as long as they're not breaking the law or hurting anybody. Just some things to think about.
