I don't know, Pope. We here in the West are a little sick of being lectured about capitalism by you. Now you say that you want the very military strength that is fueled by capitalism to help you? How convenient.

Betsey_Ross • 9 years ago

This Pope is a little conflicted. I don't know where he stands on much of anything. With all of the Christians being killed, he had to come out with something. A little too late. How sad.

Guest • 9 years ago

To late? You haven't been following what he's been saying the past few months.

BenB • 9 years ago

It is a Vatican diplomat saying this, not the Pope. Apparently the Pope can't be bothered with genocide of Christians.

Katherine McChesney • 9 years ago

I'd imagine he's conveniently forgotten the history of his church and how they genocided Christians who refused to bow to the pope. The Huguenots, Waldenses and the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre...courtesy of the Roman Catholic church.

kgbla • 9 years ago

He is conflicted because his all powerful god has not lifted a finger to help his followers.

BenB • 9 years ago

Get lost.

kgbla • 9 years ago

That is what the god said to the Pope.

Guest • 9 years ago

Did you think the Holy Father was going to come out and say Greed = Charity? Seriously. Not Catholic are ya

Churchillis1 • 9 years ago

No. I expected the Pope, assuming he was intelligent and had a simple grasp of history, to say that capitalism has provided the best standard of living of any country in the history of the world. Since he wants the armed might that was generated by this success to now help Christians in Iraq, he might want to drop the sanctimonious attitude and ask nicely.

Guest • 9 years ago

Wow..Ok then.

Churchillis1 • 9 years ago

And btw, I agree that we have a responsibility to help those poor people in Iraq. I just am sick and tired of those who continuously want to criticize America but are always first in line for us to spend our riches and our children's blood on helping them.

Guest • 9 years ago

The Holy Father didn't criticize America for the record.

Churchillis1 • 9 years ago

That is not how I perceived it. He directly assaulted the concept of capitalism which is the economic system on which America was founded. America is the sole remaining super power. If he wasn't talking about us, I have no idea who he WAS talking about. Here is a link to the article.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/1013....

BTW, in general I think that this Pope seems genuine and loving. I fear his economic ignorance is causing him to espouse beliefs which have always been shown to increase poverty, not wealth and health.

another_engineer • 9 years ago

The "holy father" is a fat sanctimonious socialist

Katherine McChesney • 9 years ago

He's no "Holy Father". He's a pagan in scarlet and white. A friend of the anti-christ himself.

another_engineer • 9 years ago

I wouldn't expect the wealthiest entity and the 3rd largest land holder in the world to say that.. no not at all.
Say, how is it that catholic charities and the USCCB get 50% of their money from the TAXPAYERS OF THE US ?????

Guest • 9 years ago

Farce? Fair enough.

Jackson • 9 years ago

Indeed it is. To call a man the sole, infallible mouth-piece for Christ himself on the earth by some divine mandate is certainly unbiblical and can fairly be called a farce.

Guest • 9 years ago

Any other Jack Chick "facts" you want to toss my way? Because as a Life Long Roman Catholic, I've heard your American Protestant nonsense for as long as I can remember. And none of your so-called "facts" really have much weight. So, please..enough.

Jackson • 9 years ago

I wasn't aware I was writing any "facts" in my comments. I also never said I was American or Protestant. Please, if I am wrong about the observations I have perceived then correct me. I will restate my observations, not "facts" as you call them, and tell me whether or not I am right. Catholics believe their "holy vicar of Christ" is the mouth piece for God, and that his every word is infallible. Is this correct, partly correct or totally wrong? I'd also like to point out that the passive-aggressive, sarcastic, almost hateful way you address me doesn't befit the image I hold of a Christian.

Guest • 9 years ago

No you didn't say this or that, but I run into your kind often. And when you start talking about what you THINK us Catholics believe, it gives off who you really are. An American Protestant.

Jackson • 9 years ago

So, you continue with your hateful attitude and refuse to answer my honest question. Exactly what I've come to expect from "your kind", to keep in line with your hateful and divisive rhetoric.

Guest • 9 years ago

Thanks! Now go enjoy your day...Tell John Hagee and Chick the One Holy Roman Catholic Church says hello.

Jackson • 9 years ago

I don't know who either of those people are, but I've certainly got just a little more insight into how hypocritical and hateful catholics really are. No wonder your ranks shrink by the year.

Druth • 9 years ago

Thus you now understand what the Crusades were. They never were adventurous expeditions and treasure hunts to fatten the coffers of the Christian kings of Europe. They were the logical geopolitical outgrowth of Islam's murderous assault on Christianity. Never forget that the Iberian Peninsula & the Balkans are the frontiers where Western Civilization ultimately stopped the incursion into Europe by the mohammedan hordes.

L_Dave • 9 years ago

Yep. Those dudes that Vlad impaled were muslim invaders.

Druth • 9 years ago

BJClinton killed more Christians than Vlad ever did. And that was just in Waco, TX. How many Christians did BJClinton bomb back to the stone age in protecting Muslims in the Balkans? Answer: Just about all of them.

MKDAWUSS • 9 years ago

A new Crusade?

GerriAttricks • 9 years ago

Yes a new Crusade. Finally! This time lets not leave a single Muslim breathing
Anywhere. And those here amongst us? Convert to anything else or off with their heads.

kgbla • 9 years ago

You even want to kill the innocent muslims? Wow.

GerriAttricks • 9 years ago

Wake up! There are NO innocent Muslims. Their Unholy book the Koran calls upon all of them to kill all of us. The difference between the really nasty fundamentalist mudslimes, er Muslims I mean is the fundamentalists want to kill us all but the so called innocents don't want to get their hands dirty but they'd like us all to die just the same and are very happy to back up the fundamentalists. So they all have to go.

kgbla • 9 years ago

The Koran, like other scriptures, has been interpreted in many different ways. I have no doubt that there are people of your own religion which say the scriptures of your religion are against what you suggest.

GerriAttricks • 9 years ago

Read the Koran and tell me what is being mis-interpreted. You've no idea of what you speak.

kgbla • 9 years ago

And what of members of your own religion that say the scriptures of your religion are against what you suggest?

GerriAttricks • 9 years ago

You have no idea of what religious affiliation I might be or if I have any at all so don't bother going there. Just deal with the first point, your rebuttal stating the Koran is mis-understood or mis-interpreted. Go on,I would like you refute what the Koran says. You can't.

kgbla • 9 years ago

Any many muslims say this:

2:190-194 Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear (the punishment of) God, and know that God is with those who restrain themselves.

GerriAttricks • 9 years ago

You make my point exactly, thank you!

Jackson • 9 years ago

Ask any actual Muslim. There is no moderate Islam and there is no extreme Islam, there is only Islam.

kgbla • 9 years ago

How can I tell if they are "actual" muslims?

Jackson • 9 years ago

What I meant by "actual muslim" was someone other than yourself who believes there are innocent muslims.

chekme2 • 9 years ago

No such a thing as innocent muslim.

Lisa • 9 years ago

It doesn't matter 'who' is stating the obvious. ISIS, anyone uttering the words convert or die, must be stopped. They are beheading children.

N. C. Newsdog • 9 years ago

When the Vatican is more hawkish than our president, what does that tell you about Obama?

David Allentown • 9 years ago

0nce a Muslim .....

Samuel Stein • 9 years ago

Maybe it tells us this.

Kruton • 9 years ago

Forward Crusaders, death to the Mohammedans! On to Mecca!!!

Will • 9 years ago

Historically, the medieval Crusaders never referred to them as Mohammedans. They called them pagans. Since Islam developed from a lunar deity, they were quite correct!
