They are needed as much as higher paying jobs. There are too many unskilled and uneducated workers with not enough unskilled work. You can't climb the economic ladder if the lowest rungs aren't there.

Actually our country boasts a 53% Bachelor degree rate the highest in the world. It has nothing to do with employees lacking skills. Yes I was surprised when I discovered we are a very highly educated country. Yet unless you are an engineer or scientist your services aren't really needed in America.

The US is well below 50% and not even in the Top 10...Canada is tops @ 56% (Waterloo - the Harvard of Canada - costs about $12K a year...McGill the same,.,,both universities can compete with any of the Top Tier US colleges in terms of quality of education...

The 2012 census showed a 30% Bachelor's Degree rate, and that was a record. Either way the point is we don't have enough ways for a low skilled worker to gain valuable experience to improve his job prospects. That's why we have people who are 30+ still working fast food jobs.

Transcanada has already contracted with the International Association of Ironworkers for their labor requirements. There are plenty of people who need those jobs.

Actually they don't; you need a two thirds majority in the senate, they don't have it.

They have it with a little negotiation with a couple of dems. It'd probably be pretty easy to get those votes.

Many Democrats are now realizing that Obama does not care about them and will vote with Republicans to save their own butts. Waiting for the economy to fix itself was a disaster for them and their power.

Trains are the alternative to pipelines ... if the oil isn't going through a pipeline it's going on a train. If a pipeline spill "destroys the planet" then so does a derailed train with 74 tank cars carrying over 2 million gallons of crude, as in the Lac-Mégantic derailment last year.

And it isn't safe either. Just check out what happened here in Michigan to the K'zoo river. There is another Embridge pipeline in the Great Lakes.
