Whatever it is, does competition bother you?

Guest • 9 years ago

No. Hey -- do you like competition? Why do you race to the bottom?

WisePati • 9 years ago

But still behind Dick Cheney who is in the lead.

They are needed as much as higher paying jobs. There are too many unskilled and uneducated workers with not enough unskilled work. You can't climb the economic ladder if the lowest rungs aren't there.

Jgal • 9 years ago

Actually our country boasts a 53% Bachelor degree rate the highest in the world. It has nothing to do with employees lacking skills. Yes I was surprised when I discovered we are a very highly educated country. Yet unless you are an engineer or scientist your services aren't really needed in America.

RobRBarron • 9 years ago

Bzzzt...

The US is well below 50% and not even in the Top 10...Canada is tops @ 56% (Waterloo - the Harvard of Canada - costs about $12K a year...McGill the same,.,,both universities can compete with any of the Top Tier US colleges in terms of quality of education...

freedompurveyor • 9 years ago

The 2012 census showed a 30% Bachelor's Degree rate, and that was a record. Either way the point is we don't have enough ways for a low skilled worker to gain valuable experience to improve his job prospects. That's why we have people who are 30+ still working fast food jobs.

John Carter • 9 years ago

Not so on percentage. You need to get your news from a source other than Fox News preaching the gospel of Exceptionalism.

davidhouston • 9 years ago

Yes thank you Dems. Now get out of the way.

davidhouston • 9 years ago

Transcanada has already contracted with the International Association of Ironworkers for their labor requirements. There are plenty of people who need those jobs.

Guest • 9 years ago
jgh59 • 9 years ago

Actually they don't; you need a two thirds majority in the senate, they don't have it.

Guest • 9 years ago
GetAClueOr2 • 9 years ago

They have it with a little negotiation with a couple of dems. It'd probably be pretty easy to get those votes.

jgh59 • 9 years ago

Worked out great these past two years, they were able to get all kinds of GOP's to cross the aisle. - don't count on it.

Jgal • 9 years ago

Not it is a lame duck session in both the House and Senate now

ToddM • 9 years ago

Many Democrats are now realizing that Obama does not care about them and will vote with Republicans to save their own butts. Waiting for the economy to fix itself was a disaster for them and their power.

John Carter • 9 years ago

Do you really believe that? It doesn't matter. What matters is what they do and they aren't likely to care what loony lies we tell ourselves to justify our basic meanness.

WisePati • 9 years ago

Yep...it doesn't matter. They like to keep us all divided so we fight among ourselves and ignore what they are doing....getting filthy rich. They plan on living in the cleanest areas of the planet, leaving the rest to the 'serfs'.

mlander80 • 9 years ago

Because the Republicans did such a great job tanking the economy in the first place. Elections like these just help prove my opinion that Americans on the whole are just morons who can't learn from History.Obama's inability to bring the economy all the way back from the brink Republicans took it to is just proof of how bad Republicans tanked it to begin with, and how disruptive they can be when Democrats were called in to fix it.

Science? We don' need no steenkin' science!

WisePati • 9 years ago

Correct...temporary jobs to send tar sands oil from Canada overseas. How foolish these mortals be!

Pesobill • 9 years ago

Ugh , the dreaded Keystone XL , how utterly stupid to support such an environmentally dangerous ,archaic project .. Those Republicans are very short sighted and under informed ,like wealthy hillbillies ..

Guest • 9 years ago
Guest • 9 years ago

Then they don't need it. The Jobs are already there, and enough risk as well. Thanks old man -- that was perfect.

freedompurveyor • 9 years ago

That's like saying, "Well there is plenty of railroad in the area, so we don't need a train line from point A to point B," despite the fact that none of the current railroad goes from point A to point B.

Guest • 9 years ago

Unless that train was destroying the planet - your correlation is irrelevant and your efforts to dumb down the masses has exploded in your own face. The good news is, you prolly won't feel a thang.

freedompurveyor • 9 years ago

Trains are the alternative to pipelines ... if the oil isn't going through a pipeline it's going on a train. If a pipeline spill "destroys the planet" then so does a derailed train with 74 tank cars carrying over 2 million gallons of crude, as in the Lac-Mégantic derailment last year.

WisePati • 9 years ago

And it isn't safe either. Just check out what happened here in Michigan to the K'zoo river. There is another Embridge pipeline in the Great Lakes.

Ryan • 9 years ago

Not according to the environmental impact statement, but what are facts anyway? Libs tend to only like science that agrees with them.

RobRBarron • 9 years ago

Why is it that REPUBLICANS in Nebraska are unwilling to give full throated support for the project?

Guest • 9 years ago
ron cee • 9 years ago

Your problem is you read and believe what you read in The Onion.

Guest • 9 years ago
ron cee • 9 years ago

" I got it from several "sources""
Yeah, just like Ol' Harry. Mr. "In guy' Chip knows many "sources" that he can't name. The Onion had this tale years ago and you're regurgitating it.
www theonion com/articles/sources-harry-reid-sleeping-with-mitch-mcconnells,18720/

PaulOlly • 9 years ago

You're seriously citing The Onion? To make what kind of point? A point of what, parody of reality? Seriously?

Razzle Dazzle • 9 years ago

No different than quoting Fox "News".....LOL.

PaulOlly • 9 years ago

Ha ha ha, made me laugh. Good one. So sad that it's true... and they have absolutely no clue, no idea what you (or they) are talking about.

Ryan • 9 years ago

Special interests will always be special interests.

RobRBarron • 9 years ago

Farmers and ranchers losing precious farm and grazing lands as well as the threat to their most precious Ogualla aquifer are hardly a special interest group...it's on the back of those people that Nebraska sustains itself and not 400 miles of iron pipe...even Heineman's own judicial appointment b*tch slapped him over the project...

Razzle Dazzle • 9 years ago

And which statement would that be? SOURCE??????????

richard hutchinson • 9 years ago

And you have to see how made up them environment impack statement. A quicken lib under obabamo

Realist • 9 years ago

Set down your kool aid elitist lib.
