Big ? Is will elected officials do what we sent them to do? Or keep ignoring We the People!

brian g • 9 years ago

my favorite part of the evening was not watching fox news, but watching msnbs. I loved watching chris mathews and that loudmouth about as irritating as nails on a chalkboard rachael maddow squirm as the results came in. It is just SO much fun! there excuse was "flawed candidates". all democrats lost because they were flawed candidates. couldn't be because of the numerous other reasons that we all know, no, it was that they were bad campaigners or failed to get their message accross or something. that and of course the idea that it was only white america voting, nobody else. then I tuned it in the next night and RM's top story was about the mayor in riverside california who won despite big oil trying to buy the election for the other republican candidate. nothing about the colossal utter destruction that was the democrats loss the night before, no, just about how some small town democrat mayor won despite big oil pumping millions of dollars for the republican. grasping at straws. This drives me crazy, when democrats whine about rich people or rich corporations contributing money to campaigns for republicans, such as the evil Koch brothers, but fail to mention the uber rich democrats who do the exact same thing such as in my state, washington, we had a anti gun initiative, in which paul allen, jeff bezos of amazon.com and the ex mayor of new york micheal blomberg giving millions to it.

Steve • 9 years ago

"unless our Republican friends actually do something meaningful, we will rise up once again and fire the lot of you."

THIS^^^.

Michael Neely • 9 years ago

I'm with you Ted. This was a triumph of the original American Dream. People who care about liberty, prosperity and security went to the polls and voted. Their votes were counted and it made a difference. Black, White, Brown, Red, or any color, race, nationality you want to invoke all had the chance to vote, and they all want prosperity, a better life, and even better lives for their children. This was the real post-racial election.

Now those newly elected have a job to do. They will have to be careful and patient, because their enemies are numerous. They must continue to work like snipers, until there is a more favorable executive in place, but we now have a lot more snipers, a lot more firepower, and a chance to begin to reverse the tide of regression into old, failed eurosocialism. We deserve better, we elected those who we think will deliver better, and we will hold their feet to the fire to make sure we GET BETTER! God Bless you, and thanks for keeping the tip of your spear directly in the enemy's face. I do too.

Woke up in some regards, and in others, have fallen into an even deeper state of sleep.

On Tuesday, in Washington State, the people voted to require every purchase or transfer of a firearm to have the person buying go through a background check. That would be EVERY transaction. Even between friends and family. Even if it is a gift as a grandfather might gift to a grandson.

While on the surface, this sounds like a good idea, it will require government interference and approval before it ever happens.

In order for this to be workable, it will amount to de-facto GUN REGISTRATION, because a copy of the 4473 document will have to be sent to the local authority, detailing what type of firearm is being sold, the serial number and the address of the person to whom this firearm will be sold. And since this firearm is to be transferred, it will also have to document where the gun is CURRENTLY located, to whom the gun CURRENTLY belongs. Even if the background check does not go through. The government will certainly be curious to find out about the background of the person selling. Are you so sure and trusting that they wont?

And in every previous case of registration, CONFISCATION will be the next logical step.

This, in the state where marajuana was recently legalized because the government realized that laws that people will not obey are not feasible and only create massive numbers of new criminals where none existed before.

Personally, I think we are still asleep and have only hit the snooze button. For the thousanth time.

I'm happy for the "wave" and I keep praying it is the "light" at the end of the tunnel but I'm afraid that tunnel is still very long and we will have to wait until next year to have the "proof" many of us sadly expect. It doesn't matter AT ALL at this moment in time of who "wins" the Senate, etc. Congress has been made irrelevant a long time ago. It is going to still be run by the ones who have the clout and power - the Leadership, heads of important committees, etc. They know they still won't be held accountable and it's still full steam ahead.
Even Steve King(R) predicted it will stay the "status quo" - still too many RiNOs, who are complicit. They are all in cahoots for the purpose of fooling the electorate long enough until they "pull the trigger" finally by 2016 where we won't be able to "fire anyone" again. This is what too many fail to see. Obama & crew - the Globalist elite, Muslim Brotherhood cabal who is calling the shots are not about to give up all this power and imminent takeover, fall of America and the new New World Order.. No. And the Establishment Rs are fakes - traitors, in collusion.

I anxiously await to see what happens now that we have this "mandate" to stop them, but still nothing serious will be done to all the important issues.??? The Rs will pull the same "stall" tactics, spin and excuses, saying Obama will only veto and they have to think about the NEXT most important elections of all - 2016. Blah, blah.
What then folks?

RacistWhitey • 9 years ago

Love ya, Td -- but McConnell and Boehner are traitors, who will work non-stop to protect their power at the expense of the people. They haven't been shy about their hatred of the Tea Party and any other Patriot group, who they see as threats to their power. They won't confront evil, and they won't call the Democrats what they are - dedicated Communists and statists, working tirelessly to enslave all Citizens. The Dims are alredady slaves - as are our children. The question is, do we have the guts to rise?

Guest • 9 years ago

It's time to kick the feds back behind the ennumerated powers of the Constitution. Pass laws to deal with the above mentioned and put them beyond judicial review as the Constitution allows Congress to do. Return power to the states where it belongs in 95% of the issues.

All well and good, but what the..."turning a blind eye to Putin's invasion"?
How about turning a blind eye to the criminal fascist oligarchs who go about the world "nation building" (read Empire Building) by destroying nations and peoples who never attacked us and are no threat to our safety and security? Who antagonized the Bear by placing missiles in near proximity to Russia. Who arm and fund terrorists. Who are in bed with Saudi barbarians. Who send troops to guard poppy fields, and the heroin that ends up on US streets kills US users. How about that?!
Talk about turning a blind eye. Other than that, Ted, your screed is not so bad.

Nov. 4th was indeed evidence that Americans are not stupid and it is a good first step in reclaiming our country etc. However, we are still in the danger zone in that clearly obama has firm intentions to finish his 'project' with the executive pen.
I just hope and pray that those we voted in do in fact have the cajones to stop Obama completely. Yesterdays press conference where Obama just kept repeating himself droning on and on about how if he doesn't agree with the houses he will use whatever means to do what HE thinks is right.
Americans need to stay alert and not think those we voted in to replace the others will not be tempted to do wrong or something. i have see over the years fresh honest good folks go to Washington only to become a few years later tainted, and poisoned by the whole political atmosphere there.
I also think it is time we push for term limits meaning perhaps only two terms as a rep or senator then let fresh minds run. It is the only way we can beat cronyism and what some call the 'royalty' of washington.

I love Ted Nugent. I hate having to pay more for my health insurance and get a higher deductible and higher premiums so other people can get their insurance for free. If you make poor choices in your life (like the 24 year old who had two kids out of wedlock), why is it up to me and other tax payers to subsidize your health insurance. Poor choices have consequences. I despise what this fraud of a president is doing to this country. When are people going to wake up and see that we have an illegal alien running this country. I guess we did this on Nov 4.

Cloud cowboy • 9 years ago

I believe that America has been awake for some time and that we weren't being heard because we didn't know what to do. We are only beginning to recognize our true power, and Tuesday was something we could do. And we did this as a people. We rose up and made a very loud statement! Now maybe they will listen to us. Now we need to express very clearly what we expect them to do. We need to communicate very clearly to them why we voted as we did, and what we want them to do.

Justin Thought • 9 years ago

Yes, indeedy, Americans finally woke up, all right, and voted the bums out--by voting the other bums in. Doesn't anybody remember that long-ago era, 2000-2008, when America was presented the other wing of the same old bird, Dubya--who also doubled the national debt, embroiled the U.S. in numerous unethical, illegal, and immoral wars; and had his own share of signing statements, beginning the processes that Obama only continued?

So here we are, once again, with the future looking bright, looking forward to the next election cycle where we'll once again be presented with another Bush, or another Clinton, or--God forbid!--songbird John McCain as candidates for president. And, because of rampant corruption in the electoral process, we won't even be given the opportunity to make the decision; the machines will make it for us.

Ted, I love your music, and I love your politics, but I'm afraid I'm not celebrating just yet.

sara56 • 9 years ago

Bush started stabilizing the middle east. Had we kept forces there, ISIS might not be the threat it is today. Does a terrorist have to knock on your door for you to get that we have to fight it? Look at the terror attacks that have happened here in this country. Were they or were they not Islamic middle easterners or wannabes? You want a useless war, Obama did that by bombing Libya with no congressional approval and the result was chaos.

Dawg_em • 9 years ago

Wrong! Saddam Hussein had "stabilized" Iraq. Bush upset the apple cart. Hosni Mubarrak stabilized Egypt. Qadafi stabilized Libya. And Assad was stabilizing Syria until the likes of John McCain, Lindsey Graham and yes, Barrak Insane Obola intervened. Heck, even Romney wanted to go into Syria. And are you willing to send your children to far off places to "stabilize" them? Good for you. You can go as well. Just don't expect reasonable people to be sucked into your Empire.

sara56 • 9 years ago

Hussein gassed his people, put them feet first into shredders,
set fires to oil wells. You call massacring people stabilizing? And how on earth does anyone "send" their children to fight a war? That alone shows you know nothing about the military. Let me educate you. Soldiers are adults who voluntarily join the military. They are not children who are sent by their parents. Got it?

Justin Thought • 9 years ago

Oh, my. Let's leave this poor lady to her delusions. She has been so thoroughly indoctrinated by the mainstream media that she's beyond redemption. It would be too hard for her to discover what life was like in Iraq before the U.S. came in and bombed them into oblivion, while stealing their resources and raping their women. She'd just rather get her sound bytes off Fox news.

But back to my original premise, it's obvious that Americans have NOT woken up. They're still lulled into a false dream by that propaganda box sitting in the corner.

--Uh oh. I'd better check my spelling very closely before I press submit--we gotta grammar nazi here, too!

Justin Thought • 9 years ago

And that response is proof positive that Americans have NOT woken up. ISIS (Israeli Special Intelligence Services) would have to have extremely long arms to knock on my door all the way from the Middle East. They MAY be creating havoc over there (at least that's what we're being told by the mainstream media--which lies about EVERYTHING, so why should this be different?), but America should only be involved in the issue of terrorism if it's occurring in the United States. And so far, the only terrorism I've seen over here is the absolute terrorism being perpetrated against the people by those charged with the duty of protecting us.

But you go ahead and keep on believing that those EEEEEEEVIL Moooooslems are going to knock on your door any minute now. Myself, I've got more valid issues to deal with.

sara56 • 9 years ago

That you associate Israel with ISIS shows your colossal ignorance. ISIS is creating havoc here. The beheading of a OK woman, 911, the Ft. Worth massacre, all done by those evil muslims. Just google US terror acts by muslims.

Dawg_em • 9 years ago

You just don't understand international espionage do you. Since you are one to suggest searching "acts of terrorism", might I suggest you search Operation Gladio and Operation Northwoods, for beginners. But you had better steal yourself; what you find may very well scare you.

sara56 • 9 years ago

Sigh. It is "steel" yourself, not "steal". I recommend Spelling for Dummies for you. Operation Gladio has nothing to do with this. I suggest you listen to Bush's spot on prediction for what would happen if we pulled out of Iraq. But you had better "steel" yourself for what might very well scare you.

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

Ma'am, there have been bad people in that part of the world since Biblical times, every bit as bad as Hussein and worse.
In fact the region is still full of potential Saddam Husseins; they just weren't as good at it as he was! Furthermore, please remember that we backed Hussein. Earlier, we had backed the execrable Shah of Iran over the wishes of the Iranian people. And even earlier, it was Western powers that created this artificial construct called Iraq among peoples that don't want to be together.

I ask again, how much more "help" can these people take?

Point is, we need to stop messing in other folks' business, and shouldn't be surprised when they lash out as a result. Besides, ISIS presents you and me with no threat, unless we decide to:
a) intervene . . . AGAIN, and/or b) continue in a policy of open borders that not only allows in illegals from Latin America, but also brings in LEGAL massive numbers of Third World and Muslim populations here as well. Another writer has characterized this policy aptly: "Invade the world, invite the world." Such a policy is for empires, not free republics (BTW, if you want to see what results from such imperial policies, look no further than what's happening in Great Britain - and other European nations - with all the Third Worlders and Muslims tearing down the political/cultural/social order).

I voted for G.W. Bush. As a soldier, he was also my Commander-in-Chief when I deployed to Iraq. While I fully support defending my country, what we did over there was wrong, and, though it wrenches my gut to say it, my buddies who lost their lives died for nothing! Again, this government will send me and my buddies overseas to fight the "radical" Muslim, and turn right around and re-settle Islamic refugees almost literally in my backyard. While not every one is a terrorist by any stretch, they will become the constituency for an Islamic caliphate for which every Muslim must advocate and bow to. I most strenuously object!

Please consider the advice of two of our "extremist" founders, Washington and Jefferson, regarding friendship and trade with other nations (where possible), but "entangling alliances" with none (Some will say, no doubt, that they were taken out of context, or that circumstances have changed; "Why, if they were alive today, they'd certainly advocate US involvement in ___________!" Hogwash!) Besides, whether you believe we have a legitimate duty to intervene overseas or not, we really can no longer afford it!

sara56 • 9 years ago

Sir. I do not care about Biblical times. There have been bad people everywhere so your point is moot. But let me remind you of 911. 3500 people lost their lives here, not to mention billions in costs, because of that part of the world. So to say we just need to butt out does not cut it. Muslim religion states you must kill those who do not convert. If we wait till it becomes a problem here it will be too late. ISIS HAS presented a problem here. Just ask the family of the poor beheaded woman in OK if Islamic terrorism is a problem. Really. And the Ft. Hood terrorist attack killed 13 people. AGAIN your assentation that if we just leave these folks alone they will not harm us is simply untrue and shows ignorance of how the world operates. Your buddies died in vain because Obama let the region get overrun. And Jefferson also initiated the navy, to take care of the Barbary pirates, who were muslim. We fought a war over that. Get an education in history before you try debating me again.

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

Ma'am, I actually agree with some of what you're saying; some of the rest, not so much: 1) Jefferson did indeed send the Navy/Marines in to take care of the Barbary Pirates, and rightly so! But that was only because they were interfering with our rightful trade. That's not meddling, that's legitimate defense! Further, I fail to see any of his policies that advocated our assuming responsibility for policing the world and meddling further in Islamic affairs: if they left us alone, we'd leave them alone.

2) 911: Every single soldier I know of, including myself, was ready to strap on a parachute and go take care of business! In '01, our Special Forces did just that!

Good, as far as that goes!

But it was all the follow-on nation-building that has been the problem. And you have to at least ask what motivated those "cowards" to fly those planes into the towers; additionally, you have to also ask why they were even allowed to be here in the US in the first place!

3) The nature of Islam: Indeed, Islam's goal - not just "radical" Islam's - is to take over the world, forming a universal caliphate. We infidels have three choices: a) Convert, b) Dhimmitude, paying a subjugation tax as Christians and/or Jews (i.e. People of the Book) to our Islamic masters, or, 3) Die! I'm not at all naive about any of that! Still, just because it's an evil messed-up religion and political system, doesn't mean we have the right/obligation to interfere with them!

Our commitment to "invade the world, invite the world" and its similarly evil twin, Multi-culturalism, are responsible for the beheading by a Muslim convert in OK, Major Hassan's terrorist attack at Ft. Hood, and I'll add the Boston bombings. Why was Hassan even here, let alone allowed to be in the Army? Why were the Tsarnayevs (sp?), Chechnian (sp?) Muslims, allowed to live here? Even the Muslim convert in OK would very likely not have been allowed to even consider doing what he did if Tolerance weren't raised to the level of godlike status! Again, if they're not here, they can't harm us; if they try to launch something from their homes overseas, we could easily clean their clocks! It's really that simple.

Besides, I'm getting sick and tired of being scrutinized by the TSA at an airport while Ahmed and his boys are allowed through! Wouldn't want to profile now, would we! AARRGGHH!!!

No, ma'am, your examples actually strengthen my position, not yours!

sara56 • 9 years ago

You admit you were dead wrong on Jefferson and isolationism. AND you can not equate America then as it is now. Now the world is much smaller and what goes on in the Mideast does affect us here. You really need to understand we have to keep shipping lanes and commerce open. It is not just about people squabbling in a far off land. I do not understand why you feel my examples strengthens your position. All you have done is agree with me. Explain exactly how, when I have show you Islamic terrorism is here, not just in the Mideast where it springs from. Yet you do not think we need to fight radical islam where it comes from. You got some splaining to do.

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

"You admit you were dead wrong on Jefferson and isolationism."

Huh? I'm really confused here; when did I admit that? Further, Jefferson and Washington never advocated isolationism, nor do I. Again, trade and friendship where possible, vigorous self-defense where necessary! That "isolationism" misnomer is used to characterize my/our position and dismiss it out of hand; it's both inaccurate and untrue.

"AND you can not equate America then as it is now. Now the world is much smaller and what goes on in the Mideast does affect us here."

I agree to some extent, but the world can affect us only as much as we allow it. Think Switzerland! They have peace, friendship, and trade with most nations, but they also have the promise of vigourous self-defense. That's not "isolationism"!

I also agree we need to keep our shipping lanes open! Fine! But how does that equate to meddling with Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, etc., setting up bases, messing with their internal affairs, and redrawing maps?

"Explain exactly how, when I have show you Islamic terrorism is here, not just in the Mideast where it springs from."

Of course it's here! It's obvious we've let them in! I know of two Muslim refugee populations here in my home state, not to mention an Islamic compound over in a neighboring county! Our "masters", not merely content to guard our legitimate trade, but they also re-draw maps overseas and settle these alien populations here in the States and/or freely invite them in! ISLAMIC TERRORISM WOULD NOT BE HERE IF WE WEREN'T LETTING MUSLIMS INTO THE US! (Sorry about the caps; I'd prefer italics, but don't know how to do that in this forum).

Let me put it another way: When I walk in the woods, I need to stay alert for copperheads and water moccasins. Now, I'll do my best to avoid them and leave them alone when I'm, say, out turkey hunting or fishing. If they threaten me, I may be forced to kill, however, and am fully willing to do so!

Okay!

How foolish would I be, though, to poke around in their dens, or to bring live copperheads and water moccasins into my home and then complain that they were potential threats to me and mine?!!?

That's the rough equivalent of what we've done with Muslims. Carry on with trade and international relations; guard your citizens and merchant fleets! But quit meddling with their affairs! And danged sure don't bring their kind into the US!

sara56 • 9 years ago

First place, I am not going to read your long, boring ramblings. State your point clearly and concisely. Secondly, "Point is, we need to stop messing in other folks' business, and shouldn't be surprised when they lash out as a result". Your words. WE did not mess with other folks, they messed with us, i.e. terrorism. What did we do to deserve getting attacked? This has gone on a long time. You need to read up on all the terror attacks that have occurred here, as well as the UK. And muslims are pouring in.

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

I thought this was a polite - if spirited - debate. Resorting to an insult instead of responding to my points - the only way I know how to respond "clearly and concisely" to what you've written - indicates more about you than it does me.

We don't need to agree, but if you simply can't grant any validity to what I'm saying, please have the goodness to POLITELY agree to disagree.

'Nough said!

sara56 • 9 years ago

OK, sorry about that. You did earn an apology out of me. I get so many smarmy rude replies and I give it right back. I do want you to boil down what your point is. Mine is we have to fight Islamic terrorism here and over there. It will come here. If you have a response to that please put it simply. With the gates open here ISIS, ebola, D68 virus, can waltz right in. If you do not respond, have a good evening and I am sorry :)

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

Sincere thanks! And I do get it about rude replies! When you care deeply about something and think someone is being snarky, it's difficult not to respond in kind! I've failed a time or two myself!

To my point! Islam must be fought, so:
1) deport all Muslims out of the US!
2) stop relocating Muslim refugees here amongst us!
3) shut down the border! ( I know, "Duh!", right?).
4) engage in trade and friendly relations with all nations, including Islamic ones, if possible, but maintain a strong defensive posture against all potential threats.

That's my position, distilled. At the very least, I hope I've convinced you I'm not some bleeding heart!; ) Thanks again for a sincere and kind desire for clarity!

Gratitude and blessings,
David Smith

sara56 • 9 years ago

Glad you are not mad at me and accepted my apology. We are on the same page. We will take our country back!

Justin Thought • 9 years ago

Here, I'm going to agree to agree. But there's one point you missed before point #1: Stop destroying Muslim countries, let them live IN PEACE (or not--their choice) in THEIR OWN LAND.

Daithi_Dubh • 9 years ago

I agree! I'm all about live-and-let-live, and I guess I sorta took that as a given! As long as they mind their business, we ought to mind ours! Thanks for clarifying it!

Xenuvius • 9 years ago

More than likely it will go down in history as the day the low information voter stayed home...can't count on that in 2016. RINO's still need a plan, a message, and most importantly a messenger. MSM Pravda will stay with the full-on tilt to the left. Who is the national messenger? Boehner and McConnell are lame excuses for messengers. RINO's would be better off hiring a press secretary like Greg Gutfeld.

Right on, with a big smack on the crush at the end.
Our real work has just begun: an unrelenting pressure on elected republicans to do the right things, most importantly, to start working AGAINST democrats, rather than perennially searching for compromises, local, state, or federal. CONSTITUTIONAL AND MORAL PRINCIPLES ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Dawg_em • 9 years ago

We'll see in 2016. Just as the Dems have their blind followers, the GOP has its lemmings as well. My prediction is McConnell and Boehner will do all they can to prohibit what must be done. If the next presidential election doesn't see a third party candidate get at least the same amount of respect Ross Perot did, we'll know the end of America has arrived.
