Never expected I'd see a sight like that, Mr. Frodo (er, we mean Mr. Jackson)
LOL, same here! ^3^
If you were Rdadgast, you wouldn't feel too good...
I missed both Dain and Radagast. Well its a trailer, cant show everything..... December yet? No? Okay * plays trailer again*.
I bet they didn't show Dain because they want to surprise us about his appearance in the actual movie. Or perhaps they haven't quite finalized his design.
6 MORE WEEKENDS!
Or, you know. Smaug.
Or, you know. Beorn.
I didn't think it would end this way.
End? No, it does not end here.
That's what we're Tolkien about!!!
Well, truthfully, there's not much in that trailer derived from the book, but I have to agree.
E P I C!
Why do you comment twice & thumbs up your own?
The double comment was an accident...
Why must you bother the poor person for commenting and thumbs-upping?
Well, truthfully, there's little in the trailer derived from the book, but I agree with you anyways. E P I C!!
Pfft, After working in Hollywood for nearly a decade I've come to the acceptance the book canon and movie canon are two different things , and you just have to eccept the works as each of there own unique universes since even though we are getting to be masters at Visual Effects their are some things that just must be read that don't translate as well on screen.
You're right - side by side comparison of books and movies is a dead end.
However, this adaptation has definitely sacrificed some potentially cinematic and powerful moments from the book in favour of spectacle which they hope will stand up to Transformers and the like. Inevitable perhaps, but certainly not necessary.
I sort of agree. However: Is there, for the purposes of this context, an essential difference between necessity and inevitability?
Absolutely. For example, it was inevitable The Hobbit would be stretched over more than one movie, but it was never necessary. Advantageous perhaps, but certainly not necessary.
Perhaps I should have said 'commercial inevitability' versus 'artistic necessity'. Either way, I care far too much about these films to let it go.
I felt they sticked well with the story (including appendicies). What do you mean? (We already know Tauriel, Azog etc. :))
We come to it at last! The most epic trailer of our time!
And the battle (er, the movie) for Middle-earth is about to begin.
I'm so happy about the White Council showing up at Dol Guldur! And the bats! It looks amazing. I can't wait, but at the same time I'm not ready for it to be over.
Saruman FTW!!! I want to watch the Dol Guldur scene so bad, man...
THE NINE!!! Nazgul alert!!! Wide shot of Galadriel and Gandalf, there are nine shrouded figures standing around - it's got to be the wraiths. I'd bet my life on it.
THIS TRAILER LOOKS SO GOOD I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!
Maybe that's why Galadriel looks so tired in the next shot, she's just opened her can of whoop ass on them lol.
As epic as I could have hoped for. This will be a movie to remember.
Omg omg I cannot wait PJ bowing out in pure style looks soooo epic Saruman: "Leave Sauron to me." The Elves look awesome, the trolls bats, ELROND!!!! Yes I realise i need to calm down a little :P
absolutely amazing! but does Thranduil kill Tauriel at 1:50 ? or what's with that scene ?
If you pause it at the right time, it looks as though he's breaking her bow. I think if she is gonna die, Bolg will be the one to do it as a later scene in the trailer suggests :'(
There's an arrow that falls to the ground too. Maybe he's stopping her from shooting someone.
I'd agree apart from the fact that Thranduil's face gets blood spattered after the swing!
makes me dread what's gonna happen
You are right! He's breaking her bow .
So it looks! But I think it's just a superficial cut ... as punishment for failing to obey his orders.
yeah, she didn't even flinch.
I'm not sure but i think Thranduil breaks her bow, by the look off it, Tauriel gets killed by Bolg later on :'(
As much as I'd be intrigued if this were the way it turns out, I don't expect that to be the case. The way it seems to happen (if this were indeed her death scene) - a slash to the face or neck - wouldn't really work out cinematically, given that this is a movie essentially intended for young adults and the character is not likely to die with her face turned away from the audience. Also, it wouldn't really make much sense to give this moment away in a trailer. So I suppose it is merely a "false suspense" sort of gimmick. Loved the trailer, though. Absolutely loved the trailer.
I think Bolg will be the one who will kill Tauriel. It's a sequence where Bolg a strikes Tauriel of some rocks.
That will be painful to watch... but at least not as bad as her own king killing her.
Followed with Legolas killing Bolg as revenge for killing Tauriel! Just speculation, but makes sense
I think he's merely kicking away an arrow of hers. When you stop the trailer you can see it.
It looks like it!!!! :O
New poster...
That was one bloody brilliant trailer! I have to agree, Saruman's line is the best. The only thing that bugged me was no Radagast. I didn't really like them adding him in, but now that you've added him, use him! Also, did anyone else notice the ring wraiths surrounding Gandalf in Dol Guldor? This is gonna be one long month, let me tell you. I can't wait for "the end of all things"!
someone has to come with the Eagles to save the day... and who better than the woodsy wizard? Have faith!
We'll see I guess. If I had to be money, though I'd say Beorn.
Well I suppose old poop head does have his uses.
One of the wraiths looked strangely like a jester for some reason!
Fantastic!!! This was worth waiting for. Its hard to find words for this trailer but this picture describes how i feel.
