The situation is even worse than this. Due to the brittle nature of the Genome assemblers, the effect of molecular mimicry in raw data is often magnified in the final assembled genomic data sequence, meaning that we really have to discard a decade of GWAS studies, and start taking notice that the Human Microbiome exists, and that it is prolific (I discussed the Genome assembly problem in this conference presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watc... )
