In Somalia they gun down the taxman. In yankee land they move operations/hqs to other countries to escape tax - when charged they give up yankee citizenships - that the way it goes man..............

A Tea Partier's wet dream.

Guest • 9 years ago

The Tea Bagger's wet dream became reality earlier this year when cattle rancher and land rustler Cliven Bundy, who dodged millions of dollars of fees and taxes by using public lands for his private profit, faced off with Federal agents and Bundy became a cause célèbre for every nut brain in the US.

And no TPer will EVER be capable of understanding that they too are absolutely dependent upon things like those nice roads they drive to get to their TP meetings.

Guest • 9 years ago

Most of them are old white folk collecting social security. See them squawk if you try to take away their dole.

Mahomed Saleem Moorad • 9 years ago

im sure most westerners must be secretly wishing that they could kill their tax collectors too.

Guest • 9 years ago

Better yet, the ones responsible for legislation of tax laws and dodges that benefit 1%.

tabernac • 9 years ago

Not tax collectors...lawyers. We need to start killing lawyers.

The South shall rise • 9 years ago

I would never pay taxes again.

Guest • 9 years ago

Why pick on the westerners, all of us would prefer not paying.

shanks • 9 years ago

Zakat is the only form of taxation acceptable in Islam and as Muslims, any taxation outside what Allah has decreed is oppression and should be fought against.

Nathaniel • 9 years ago

Separation of State and Church maybe something they are going for...

globetrotterrettortebolg • 9 years ago

This is so sad. Unbelievable what we humans can come down to.

Guest • 9 years ago

We are capable of much compassion, too. But we are always just a shout away from chaos and anarchy. If we could only prevent socipathic people from positions of power and authority. We could.. and can...with knowledge. More effective than bullets and revolutions.

globetrotterrettortebolg • 9 years ago

I can only hope that happens.

It has been my experience in many work careers that a small percentage of people are responsible for most of the problems and the need for rules and regulations. However, my experience here is the reverse. There are community rules and guidelines that we all agree on yet it seems most flaunt them. I hope the community here does not reflect a real community...

this is a microcausim of what happens when a government fails. One step below Iraq!

guest • 9 years ago

are kidding there is no IRAQ there is ISIS empire though

frank_luc • 9 years ago

There's no Somalia, either.

Anwar • 9 years ago

Though job. Good people. Not all tax collectors of righteous. I'm sure some, in my country, deserve to die, along with almost all politicians, lawyers and policemen.

MJ • 9 years ago

Thanks for sharing your homicidal fantasies.

What a third world country Somalia has become. As an Italian colony ,Italy got no benefits .Just spent money and energy building roads and infrastructure just so they could say Italy too can have colonies.

Hassan Noor • 9 years ago

F-off, who invited your warped behind in the first place.

Guest • 9 years ago

Italy colonized part of Somalia and indeed tried to get as much as they could out of it. They even used Somali's to try to invade British area of Somalia. Both Italy and Britain used Somalia and it's people as play things.

Nite_Fox • 9 years ago

They are the cause of what is happening right now in Somalia. they have divided the people and the land and gave some to Ethiopia and some to Kenya. Somalia never had peace and they don't want peace there at all. they always wants to come in pretending the big brother who came to help.

jb • 9 years ago

somalia is ancient many of the architecture was build before the italian colonialist

Kill the Taxman. Crude but effective way to lodge protest against paying taxes. HAHA.

No representation without taxation.

How can we send Khadija some money and know for a fact that she got it? Seriously, does anyone know?

Guest • 9 years ago

What a shame. Married for 50 years. It's one thing to die of old age or natural causes but quite another to lose a loved one to senseless murder.
Kudos to you for your compassion.

Laura Wrzeski • 9 years ago

Thanks, but I can't figure out how to contact anyone at AJ or the author.

Khadija hurts my heart. She and her very elderly and obviously much-loved husband trying to stand for civil society against lethal foes. People like them are the courageous polar opposite of A.S.

Hanaan CHassan • 9 years ago

Yes I can connect you with the Reported who repoted on this story. I am sure he will be able to connect you with her. Let me know!

Laura Wrzeski • 9 years ago

Failed so far...I'll try a few more things....

Isa Konte • 9 years ago

You are a rare type.......its better to contact aljazeera.

Laura Wrzeski • 9 years ago

I'll give that a shot too.

I just read a VERY convincing article about how refugees do better with cash grants so they can decide how to prioritize their needs. In an emergency refugee camp without anywhere to buy anything, food, etc. has to be provided of course, but people like Kajidah are best served by cash because only she really knows what her specific family needs are.

skilledworker • 9 years ago

be careful sending people money....I wanted to give money to a family when I was in a poor country, I thought I could help one poor family and that would be great. I was informed that I could get them killed and never know it. I gave a maid a ring which I had and I thought it was like money in the bank, then again, I was told that she could lose her finger or worse if the wrong people seen it.....I don't know what to do in these cases

Laura Wrzeski • 9 years ago

I know...a friend that was in Iraq said pretty much the same thing. My kid and some friend raised some $ to send to a S.African pen pal they were in contact through a HS school program. She wanted three payments of $200.00 for HS fees/uniforms. We heard later that her parents married her off to some older dude and split the $ our girls raised with him.

We sort of knew we were taking a risk, but were hurt for her and disappointed just the same.

Richard Paul Brown • 9 years ago

The country is too poor to collect taxes from poor people. The government should help people not take them

Guest • 9 years ago

There isn't any reason for killing someone over taxes when you have tax havens like Switzerland... Don't be saying they don't know about the banking sector... Most of the Somalian pirates used Swiss accounts to have ransoms payed into them.

kaitlyynmary • 9 years ago

if there was enforcement of taxes on the wealthier people maybe they would be more receptive.

Guest • 9 years ago

Somalia is a disgusting nation and a enmbrassment to Africa. Are Somali's black??

jb • 9 years ago

No we are not black we are Somali, yes we have embarrrased ourselves for the last 25 years but we are far from a disgusting nation we are an ancient nomadic poetic warrior nation

Hassan Noor • 9 years ago

no they are white biatch

skilledworker • 9 years ago

how could you say what you did?

inti • 9 years ago

Somalia isn't even a country! More of a lawless land with no hope of a better future. Somalia is run by pirates and warlords and has virtually no economy other than a black market and drug based economy.

will • 9 years ago

What are you, twelve?

inti • 9 years ago

Thief of nicks

YUSOF OSMAN • 9 years ago

Please encourage the muslims to pay "zakat" rathar than tax. Let Allah decide their future. Be brave.

skilledworker • 9 years ago

isn't it only Muslims that accept zakat from non Muslims in Muslim lands or am I confused?
