Hey. I just realized all the posts here are older than 5 days. What's up?

MistyDew • 9 years ago

I love C-Span callers that call in with some sense. We have had 2 calls talked about Cyde Bundy stole millions of dollars in grazing fees. The Milant points loaded guns at Federal Officials and got away with it. Brown had a handful a cigars he shoplifted, if he did it. He was shot 6 time in cold blood. We have Tear Gas, Rubber bullets and Tanks in Ferguson. I just heard on C-Span Radio. Egypt is calling for restraint against the American People!

2016 GOP Presidential Hopeful Rick Perry Indicted -- OOPS!

Sorry, but there was no way I could bring myself to write about Ferguson.

When Egypt is calling for restraint - I think enough's been written. Rock bottom

Morning, what's up with all these black frame glasses? Mika and Joe look like twins with their glasses. We know Eugene Robinson wears black frame glasses and need them. Alex Wagner wore her round big black frame glasses for a day or two. Scara and mini me, Tripp, Piper and Toad wear the try to look smart..look at Ricky Perry in his glasses where he really really looks stupid!

You know, there are some really sick people out there. Black people exercising their rights is suddenly "disgusting."

omomma • 9 years ago

Rumor, there are special crime categories for "black person breathing in and out", or, "black person observed walking by leading with right foot instead of left", or, "black person questioned about waiting for walk sign at intersection".

Jake Tapper Amazed at Militarized Police Presence: 'Nothing Merits This'

They've lost Jake Tapper....

They've fucked up this situation so badly that it will take years to remedy it. It's like using a sledge hammer to swat a fly.

An honest election would help. I really find it hard to believe that a town that heavily populated with African-Americans have so few elected in office. Either the town is corrupted or they don't vote. It's like a town from the 1950s with 2014 protesters.

sosmartru • 9 years ago

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE...that town didn't elect people by Race!

alwaysthink • 9 years ago

In the last mayoral election only 13% turned out

disqusux • 9 years ago

Voters are always far too slow to make the connection between their lack of participation in the political system and their likely oppression by said system.

http://crooksandliars.com/2...

We have compulsory voting so our votes can't be bought or taken away by semantics but I believe compulsory voter registration would go a long way to making US elections cleaner.

sunnyjane • 9 years ago

I'm surprised they haven't brought out the fire hoses, but I guess dressing up like combat soldiers in Afghanistan is more fun.

You're right about getting more African Americans in elected office. I hope that the next local election -- whether it's school board or mayor -- sees more African American voters at the polls.

And speaking of the "mayor," where the hell is he? In hiding?

disqusux • 9 years ago

Them fire hoses are heavy, ma'am. And we get wet.

sunnyjane • 9 years ago

Major head smack here. Of course! How silly of me. Shooting a semi-automatic weapon is SO much tidier.

Another case of a police coverup, just 2 hours from Ferguson: a Southern Illinois University student was found dead in the woods, presumably from exposure. He had taken a ride from someone, and it was presumed that he was drunk and wandered off into the woods. The initial autopsy came back as death from hypothermia.

The family's autopsy, however, showed blunt force trauma to the head and bodily injuries. Turns out, a cop pulled over to check-out an empty truck that night with its emergency flashers on, and a young man came back to the truck from the woods and told the cop that he picked up someone (the soon to be dead student) that he claimed had punched him when he asked for gas money, then fled into the woods. The cop did the briefest of searches from the side of the road with his flashlight and saw nothing. He noted that the young man coming back to his truck had a mark on his face. Nothing else was done - the soon-to-be-dead student was left alone in the woods, and the officer and guy in the truck drove off. The family's second autopsy said that while injured, he was probably alive at the time of the officer's stop, but died later of his injuries, combined with hypothermia.

The dead student's family is suing everybody involved, including the chief of police, the police department, and the young man with the truck that their son was with that night.

SIU at Carbondale is not a safe place to be for some. The school closes (or did when my nephew was there in the mid-90s) for Halloween because it is unsafe for some young adults and the town. Casual attitudes of the past, 'boys will be boys' and celebratory vandalism became too out of control, I guess.

A friend's nephew was horribly murdered in Carbondale about 10 years ago; the perpetrators (a man and a woman) were charged.

Agent Provocateurs are moving in now.

zane1 • 9 years ago

Watching it. Apparently the National Guard are there, but not on the streets & the cops seem to be provoking the people. 8 days of this cat & mouse. It is not going to end well.

NJfan • 9 years ago

I was watching CNN and one of the men interviewed said that two white guys threw water bottles into the air towards the police. Police weren't sure if it was molotov cocktails which intensified their reaction. It was only water. He said the two white guys belong to some communist group from Illinois. Apparently, a small group of anarchists are there to provoke the violence. Also, on MSNBC some of the black protesters interviewed were from other mid-western states to support Ferguson, so it's very plausible that there are agent provocateurs in that mix. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of those white guys causing trouble there are KKK trying to make the peaceful blacks look bad.

zane1 • 9 years ago

Yes, am watching now one black guy came from Milwaukee & another from ..can't remember, but the point they made is this is happening to blacks everywhere not just Ferguson. Just heard average income in Ferguson is under 20,000.

Linda • 9 years ago

Most of that goes to pay traffic tickets. (tongue in cheek).

Just sort of a curiosity question for those of you in the Northeast, New England areas.

Anybody know about the background history of Zephyr Teachout. Her twitter bio says she is running for Governor of New York in the Dem Primary. She also says she is a Constitutional Law Professor. Wasn't that the way they described Elizabeth Warren?

https://twitter.com/zephyrt...

She just showed up as a new follower. I was just curious about her

sunnyjane • 9 years ago

Here's some info from Wiki, HIG. She sort of sounds like an Elizabeth Warren type. And that's a GOOD thing.

Zephyr Teachout
Zephyr Rain Teachout is an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University. She is running against Andrew Cuomo for the 2014 Democratic Party nomination for Governor of New York.

She is an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham Law School and previously a Visiting Professor of Law at Duke University and a lecturer at the University of Vermont.

Teachout is an antitrust and media expert who served as the Director of Internet Organizing for the 2004 Howard Dean presidential campaign. She co-founded A New Way Forward, an organization built to break up the power of big banks, and was involved with Occupy Wall Street. Teachout was also the first national director of the Sunlight Foundation.

She announced in an exclusive release, via new media outlet Buzzfeed, that she will be running for the Democratic nomination for governor. Her running mate, Lieutenant Governor candidate Tim Wu, is a Columbia University Law professor who coined the phrase "net neutrality".

Things are getting bad again in Ferguson. It seems the cops changed the situation and showed up with riot gear and an armored car.

Honestly, this would all go away if they would at least detain Darren Wilson and stop hiding evidence. Not giving any information is not how this is supposed to happen. I watched LOD and he was interviewing the guy who assisted in the 2nd autopsy. He said that they didn't have access to any incident reports, the first autopsy findings, the clothing that Mike was wearing or any official eyewitness reports, photos of the crime scene, etc. WTF!
