Guys before this all kicks off can we try and keep the comments civil and not go too hard on the personal stuff. The mods will be out in force and any shit will be deleted quickly.

Reds and wallabies fan • 9 years ago

I agree Hugh, why don't we wait until the facts come out before we pass judgement on the guy.

The Project • 9 years ago

who's kurtley beale???

Kylie Bowers • 9 years ago

It's a shame but it seems to be 1 to many chances in this case a waste of talent I just hope I does not hurt other up and coming indigenous boys that want to be future wallabies

Umm this isn't the bachelor...there aren't any roses

I'm not a fan of the "problem with alcohol". Yes no doubt when these things occur alcohol is involved but for me it's personality. KB has a history or believing he is bigger than the team. The rebels bus incident, the Jon Oneill bus incident and now this similar one. I'm sorry to say but it's the man not the booze that seems to have an issue.

Piggy • 9 years ago

Or a serious problem with forms of mass transport...

guest • 9 years ago

Hahaha good call

Patrick • 9 years ago

I think it is a problem with losing in South Africa...

Farthing • 9 years ago

Someone buy him a bicycle.

Rhino85 • 9 years ago

In thee spirit of keeping this civil let me put it like this. I believe Kurtley Beale and the ARU should part ways due to a conflict of ideas pursuant to the ARU and commonsense's code of conduct... that was the nicest way I could think of putting that.

Vinnie Gorham • 9 years ago

Unbealevably stupid

Antony • 9 years ago

Probably more annoying for the Tahs than the Wallabies.

Swat • 9 years ago

Justice for Horne! Back in the centres!

Farthing • 9 years ago

He probably read the hysterical damming of his efforts in the last test in the G and G comments sections. I'd get on the drink after copping that.

Farthing • 9 years ago

And yes I realise that's the wrong damming.....

Pedro • 9 years ago

Silly Kurtley, only abuse officials when you're sober.

Drop kick • 9 years ago

Until more is known I think the headline should be changed by removing the word alcohol. The statements in the herald and Australian don't mention drinking being involved and if beale had been pissed it's unlikely he'd still be available for selection.

Matt Rowley • 9 years ago

We have very good reason to believe its correct

Drop kick • 9 years ago

I see you've changed the headline - thanks.
I hope you are incorrect, but I didn't think you'd be making it up on whim.

hugh • 9 years ago

I like the use of the royal "We" but think you should polish up your third person referral technique.
How about this? "We have very good reason to believe that Matt Rowley is correct".

Condor • 9 years ago

Rugby is too small a pond for this fish. He is a terribly overrated player who only shows glimpses of what many believe to be his general consistent play. I think he could do well in Europe where he is not dealing with the constant spotlight on him.
To be perfectly honest I gave up on him in 2013 when it was pretty clear he was never going to be able to reproduce the form of his sensational 2010 international season. His tendency to run sideways, get isolated on attack and imploding with high balls and tackles in pressure situations is predictable.
As a frustrated supporter but keeping his best interests at heart I think it's time to give something else a crack while he's still young

Red Kev • 9 years ago

I call it progress, at least he didn't lamp the guy this time

hugh • 9 years ago

If it's good enough for the NZ #10 to have a few too many quiet drinks before the trip to Argentina, then surely it's probably good enough for the Aust (ex)#10 to do similar?

If it is only verbal abuse of an ARU Official, then that is an improvement on the last time when he "laid hands" on his Captain and other team mates. Surely progress?

YEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEAHHH

YOU CAN TAKE THE PLAYER OUT OF LEAGUE BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE THE LEAGUE OUT OF THE PLAYER.

OFF TO THE DOGGIES YOU SLIPPERY DEVIL

PM • 9 years ago

KB has played Rugby Union since at least year 9 in high school so your comment is moot.

bad ass • 9 years ago

Yeh, this actually is rugbys problem. There's a reason he thinks he can do whatever he wants. Accountability in the past lacking.

Bruce • 9 years ago

What is it with all the bus and plane incidents with these guys? Maybe they should be transported around like Hannibal Lecter.

Davey • 9 years ago

"Oh and Ewen........ Love your suit."

Rob McKay • 9 years ago

If it had happened on the way TO Cape Town, it would explain a lot.....

Sully • 9 years ago

Without knowing exactly what happened I would tend to give the bloke a little slack. He's getting help and anyone can slip up.

Matt James • 9 years ago

This may be insensitive but I don't understand why a professional athlete who has had past issues with alcohol still drinks. Is it alcoholism or stupidity which compels him to drink: it is clearly one as otherwise he would have learned not to drink to excess.

Jason • 9 years ago

Agree with Matt - if I was a Wallaby I'd gladly give up grog for the duration of my career, particularly if I had a well-documented drinking problem.

Farthing • 9 years ago

The fact that it is a drinking PROBLEM suggests that giving it up isn't so easy. We wouldn't need rehab centres if it was as simple as giving an alcoholic something nice (like a wallabies Jersey) and BAM! they are cured.

Buggsy • 9 years ago

HEAR HEAR

Bill • 9 years ago

How often though Sully. Mackenzie's already laid down a marker in dublin, and unlike then this supposedly involves poor alcohol related behaviour. I'd think he's screwed, and he's only got himself to blame.

LazyRunner • 9 years ago

Agreed. Addiction is more about escape than anything else. And after the Newlands match, where he's struggling to maintain his place in the side and all his efforts in the last 20 minutes of the match amounted to very little (while he probably thought he could be the hero) - I can understand the need to escape. The ARU official probably deserved the abuse.

Doofus • 9 years ago

If anyone should be drinking, it should be the ARU. Now They've got issues!

Muffy • 9 years ago

God knows they are making me drink!

Reds and wallabies fan • 9 years ago

Agree Sully, even if he did something he may regret he wouldn't be the first 25 year old in that boat.

Bushpig12 • 9 years ago

Two words.
Yeah
Right

Bobas • 9 years ago

Beale fell off the wagon??? must've wore the wrong boots again!

Luke Amasi • 9 years ago

The issue I am finding with a lot of comments here is that the majority of people here believe alcohol this was related. There is no evidence that alcohol was involved, now without knowing anyone here personally or what your own views are. Don't you think you need to lay off the alcohol finger pointing. Saying this bloke has problems and should be kicked out of the game.
This is a perfect opportunity to have conversation about why we think an indigenous player who gets in an argument with a work colleague now gets blamed for being drunk. When what is being said from the ARU and the news is that alcohol was not related. Sure he has a terrible track record with alcohol but what does that say about us if we arm ourselves with the keyboard and fire barbs as we enjoy our white middle class lives (average rugby fan).
Kurtley is a fantastic player, regardless of the 'form he hasn't got now' which is silly to think, considering the way he played for the tahs this year. obviously there is teething issues working him into the wallabies set up.
Rugby in Australia as I see it needs Kurtley, more than Kurtley needs the public condemning him for a loss that was a team effort. What does this say about us as a very closed sport REGARDLESS of what the ARU tries to value. I feel when it comes to Kurtley he isn't just dealing with his past alcohol related issues but he's being condemned for being part of a stereotype that is consistent with the white middle class, being we as rugby fans.
If this issue was actually a problem Link would have dropped Kurtley straight away, I assume he was there on the flight when it happened? Sure there will be an investigation and maybe Kurtley f%&ked up big time. But don't blame it on alcohol, Indigenous Australians have enough issues don't condemn Kurtley for something he may or may not have done until you know the full story.

PM • 9 years ago

Here-here. Fingers crossed this was not an alcohol related incident where one was pissed. it will be interesting if it was and who said what.

Everyone should lay off KB for the time being, he has had a sensational year for the Tahs and some good cameos for the Wallabies. We need as much depth in talent as we can get.

Grizzly • 9 years ago

It's a pity it's so easy to slander people on social media without any concrete facts.

bad ass • 9 years ago

Saying that you think someone was drinking is not slander.

bad ass • 9 years ago

I think he was pissed.

Grizzly • 9 years ago

Give us your facts!

Chinese Dave • 9 years ago

I think you're a dumb arse, way to miss the point.
