Love it! I didn't have any cauliflower and I had a lot of broccoli (13 oz) so I made broccoli rice instead - it was really good. I'm not familiar with Aleppo chile finishing salt so I used TJ South African Smoke instead, and I added some juices from the Kalua pig. So flavorful and so good! Definitely will be a staple for me, though the portions actually turned out a lot smaller - I'm getting 2-3 servings. (Probably because I pulsed my broccoli until it was almost a paste).

I'm not sure where I went wrong - I followed the directions exactly with a 5.2lb pork shoulder, bone-in, skin cut off, and it wasn't really done after 16 hours on my KitchenAid Multicooker (slow cooker low setting). I specifically bought Alaea salt for this recipe. The parts that were in the liquid were great and super shreddable; the majority of it (the parts on the top) were still dry and tough. I shredded what I could and put the rest back in the slow cooker for another 4 hours, and again the parts that were in the liquid became soft and shreddable while the top remained somewhat dry (but better shape than before). I'm glad that the parts that were shreddable were flavorful and pretty tasty, but I am a bit surprised by how much more labor-intensive this ended up being.

Is it possibly because my cut of meat should've stayed close to the liquid? I didn't realize until reading through your comments a second time that you had cut it in half - mine was an awkward shape (I had to cut a 10.27 lb pork shoulder in half) and it barely fit into my slow cooker.
