The interest in old apple varieties is international - since 1981 we've been lucky enough to have access to a beautiful little orchard managed by a parks authority - the apples are fabulous.

Giving fruit trees as gifts is a nice way to promote diversity. We happily give away over twenty kinds of seedling tomatoes to friends each spring.

Welcome home, I missed you. I always feel like returning from something wonderful that has been your life for a few weeks is like re-entry to earth and there's that bittersweet happiness to be back but loss of something unique and that no matter how well you describe it, no one will know just how it was for you. I'm looking forward to seeing your paintings and am having fantasies of a trip to the US that involves and art camp...

Corny as it sound sometimes a strange alchemy seems to happen - the paint and the effort and the focus come together to make something lovely - simple as that and as hard as that. I love the way that focus on the details can quieten the chattering, can settle the busyness, can make your eyes see things you hadn't previously - it's wonderous and wonderful.

I'd like to know how you made those longs worms - I think the fat sections and the careful stripes makes them wonderful. For me the piece has a lovely whimsical kind of humour - I guess it could be dark humour too! My daughter thought it would be great in a book. :)
