(I.E. Geez its one large circular calendar, how many dates can you fit on it!

Ian, you did a great job with the article, all your articles. Now I must admit if something *magically* does happen it will be kindof funny/ironic, BUT nothing will happen.

Its just the same as :"Y2K" and all other "doomsday" theories....Anyways we should be looking towards death by Apophis, in 2036 ;)

(You know someone is going to look that up now...)

Re: The Launch Pad: This Pretty Much Sums it Up...

alright, I am adding Moonpies to my bio!

Re: The Launch Pad: This Pretty Much Sums it Up...

Wait! When I first joined twitter I thought it was somewhat weird, I mean who needs to know what I am doing...Right? But after a few months I saw the possibilities Twitter had for Astro-outreach. So I started "tweeting" observations and sometimes images from my scope. Eventually I used twitter as a log book of some sort.

Though eventually it wasn't as fun, so i took a break. Then a few months later Twitter become part of my job, tweeting fro the obs, and updating status for the new website. Well, one day as I started up my e-mail I saw a new blog feed being submitted for an event called #Meteorwatch and thats were my Twitter story really began.

The Newbury Astronomical Society was creating an online twitter event. Though i had heard of one earlier in the year (#Moonwatch) I did not care to much for it. But now I was interested, since I already spent 2/3 hours a day on twitter.

So I contacted the society and asked about the event. After talking for a few days with them I was mesmerized by the ingenuity of it! So I decided to participate. Eventually I managed the US side of the event, now we have planned many such events.

You, tweeting live images of Meteors, the night sky, galaxies and such is a lot of fun. But when you get people telling you thanks to your tweets I saw my first meteor it really makes it worth it.

So now I am on twitter every day for maybe 4/5 hours talking with fellow "spacetweeps" watching for new space news and in between watching a few moonpie contests ;)
