Hey Heyo, I took your advice and read the Deconstructing Obama book. Interesting read, I can see why it might have depressed you. I've always thought Obama a phony and that the media shamelessly and unethically did everything in their power to get him elected, but, if even if only a portion of it is true, it's still worse than I imagined.

Speaking of irony, The New York Times reported on 10/28 that liberal icon Alec Baldwin recently paid $11.7M for a Greenwich Village apartment, and this after expressing his support for the Occupy Wall Street anarchists. Maybe hypocrisy is a better word.

I must be missing some key thread here, but what, exactly, should I be wondering about regarding the intended use of electronic warfare aircraft, and what does that have to do with the Occupy "your town here" protests or the decision to not launch a cyber attack on the Iraqi financial system?

Leon Panetta is a well-respected Democrat, and certainly someone in a position to know what he's talking about in this regard, so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss his opinion out-of-hand. All those technological advances that help keep our troops safe don't come cheaply either.

I saw Cashill interviewed somewhere and the book sounded interesting, but I'm always a bit leery of conspiracy theories. My guess is Obama's simply a man elected to a job he was unprepared for but was fortunate enough to be the opposite of the guy that preceded him and a good public speaker.

From Reuters: "Panetta said a potential second round of cuts in security spending estimated
at about $600 billion from fiscal 2012 to 2021 would be "completely
unacceptable."

"If that happens, it could trigger a round of dangerous across-the-board
defense cuts that would do real damage to our security, our troops and their
families, and our ability to protect the nation," he said in a message to
Defense Department personnel.

This was unacceptable "because we live in a world where terrorist networks
threaten us daily, rogue nations seek to develop dangerous weapons, and rising
powers watch to see if America will lose its edge," Panetta said.

"The United States must be able to protect our core national security
interests with an adaptable force capable and ready to meet these threats and
deter adversaries that would put those interests at risk," he said."

You know, I generally ignore whatever you post because it's usually just more hateful, immature nonsense, but the thought of you hunkered down at your computer for hours writing me a poem with a secret message in it is at the same time so hilarious and so pathetic that I just had to make an exception this time. And for all these months too, nobody even realized what you had done except for yourself and maybe your cat, so you just had to say something. I'm simply trying to understand what you believe the guidelines are for mocking people. So far we know that you believe being overweight is funny, but birth defects aren't. That's a good start. What about race, gender, religion, sexual orientation? Do you consider them good topics for ridicule too? I stand behind everything I've said, Surley's comment about low income people being stupid was elitist, arrogant, and by the standards of the people that scream racism whenever someone disagrees with the president, racist as well, since, as I proved, the people he referred to are disproportionately minority. Can you imagine if some wealthy Wall Street type you people love to hate had said that? Or a Republican candidate? The self-righteous left would have gone crazy, and rightfully so. And your comments about overweight people were clearly out of bounds so I made an exception for you. You're only digging yourself in deeper and deeper by referring to being overweight as a "lifestyle choice". Best to just admit you were wrong while you still can.

The quote is from the writer of the article, not the president. He's relating what he believes business leaders think, it wasn't meant to be a direct quote from Obama.
