If the Democrats continue to make promises and not deliver, it won't matter what strategy the Republicans use...

Democrats need to get the damn stimulus passed, create a huge infrastructure bill (which includes the Green New Deal and high speed rail), and adopt Medicare for All. And these things must be done this year. To maintain the status quo will be death to the Democrats in 2022.

The officials from Wuhan who allegedly wanted things kept quiet were fired. The CCP jumped into action and after a lockdown of a couple months got the virus under control, as has virtually every Asian and Oceanic nation. China is now virtually COVID free.

The U.S. on the other hand has lost nearly a half million to COVID, and half the population thinks that Trump handled it well.

Perhaps if American media focused more on our yearlong fiasco and less on other's mistakes, we might actually someday convince some Americans that it's not a hoax.

True. So let's embrace the European model for health care and ensure a strong safety net (both of which are opposed by Republicans and Libertarians) and call it even.

It drives me crazy when we talk about universal health care and every libertarian and conservative screams "Socialism!" But when someone points out that Europe has it, and we get this "Europe is not socialist." Well, GREAT! Then we can implement universal health care like Europe and not be socialist either.

Sometimes it feels like I am talking to a wall.

when borrowers take out loans, they only receive the principal. They are however expected to pay back that principal and any interest that accumulates over the life of the loan. While it is true that money expansion by the banks is detrimental to the economy, what is worse is that the money that is paid back as interest must also be created somewhere...the last time I checked the US Debt clock, it said that we had, as a nation, around $57T in debt (government, corporate, business and individual) but a money supply of only about $10T. Not only is there not enough money now to pay the PRINCIPAL owed to banks but there is certainly not enough to pay the INTEREST. So, individuals, governments, businesses and corporations must BORROW MORE PRINCIPAL in order to pay for its debts and interest. I would argue that THIS IS WHAT CAUSES INFLATION!!!!

Interest is unearned income. A good example would be found in the construction and sale of a new home. Let's say for instance, a contractor builds a home for $100,000. He sells it for $200,000. The buyer, usually, gets a loan from a bank for at least 80% of that sale price (or $160,000, if they have the full 20% to put down). In the mortgage contract, the bank will require the buyer to repay about $400,000 over the course of the loan. That means that the bank will make $240,000 off of that house without having done a damn thing. The contractor only made $100,000.

One might argue at this point that $240,000 is over 30 years, but anyone who's ever looked at a mortgage schedule knows that within the first several years, the bank makes the majority of its revenue in interest. When they foreclose, they have already gotten the entire original principal back in payments. It's criminal and what is destroying our economy.

this is the most ridiculous article I have read in some time. A militarized police is a "Progressive" idea? Seriously? It is the progressive movement that is right now fighting for the legalization of drugs, the opening of borders, the return to constitutional/bill of rights and the end to our endless wars in the middle east (and soon to be elsewhere, thanks to our RIGHT-WING president).

Now, the libertarians, who should be looking to the progressives as allies in the fight to maintain our freedoms under the fascist regime occupying the White House are instead aligning themselves with the right-wing fascist party - the GOP. This is why I stopped voting Libertarian - nothing but Republicans who want to end the drug war (supposedly....articles like this one makes me wonder).

Before I get accused of being an Obama-lover, or a Clinton-lover, let me make it VERY clear that neither Barack, Bill or Hillary were ever progressives let alone when occupying the White House. But to claim that those of us who hold libertarian social values (very much a part of the progressive movement) are somehow the cause of, or to say the least, looking the other way at, police militarization is absolute idiocy.

I personally believe that reincarnation is true. I also believe that we mostly try to fit it into our finite time-oriented thinking. What if, since eternity is timelessness, that all souls are in multiple plains of existence at once? IOW, I am not only in heaven (the place where the god lives - perhaps, all souls combine to make that god), but I am also living all my lives simultaneously, but we experience them in the time-orientation.

While this is a minor point that could possibly make one's brain explode, I feel that it has some really cool implications about our lives...

Jeffn, you have no idea what you are talking about. At one time, the Progressive Party existed in America, and its candidate for President was Teddy Roosevelt. He advocated for social security, women's suffrage, equal rights for minorities, and a number of other issues. Bernie Sanders carries on that great tradition, no matter what he is called.

I don't smoke weed, but believe that legalization is the best path. Prohibition has NEVER worked. And I would be willing to put a year's salary on the line that you actually know people who use pot and harder drugs. If that is the case, why then, "guest," aren't we talking about all the drunks out there who smoke cigarettes? Both are consider drugs - it's just that they're legal...

I am guessing that you are not much of a reader, but if you are, I would suggest reading "Civil Disobedience" by Henry David Thoreau. He sets forth a convincing argument that not only is disobeying unjust laws justified, it is morally imperative.

Having been a conservative Christian for over 20 years I can attest to giving far more as a conservative. Here's the rub: conservative Christians give mostly to churches, where the majority of the money goes to staff salaries and building maintenance (including mortgage payments}.

While a considerable amount may make it to those in need
the truth is that very few conservatives do anything to change the system that creates the poor in the first place. Most of us who self-identify as progressive would prefer the system be fixed and entitlement programs done away with. Conservatives believe that the poor are lazy and by eliminating entitlements, poor folks will go to work. Then when the poor ask for a living wage, conservatives fight against it.

So I don't care what your faulty research shows, I can testify to what Rand and Rothbard proposed. And it sickens me.
