So here is my idea from a lowly tax payer and traveler on IH35 somtimes during rock throwing hours. Austin is a city 2/3 the size of San Antonio with 1 billion more dollars in its tax receipts. Let's take a couple hundred thousand dollars and pay 100 APD officers and volunteers to get in their personal vehicles with dash cams and drive a route up and down the targeted areas of IH 35 one after another for the entire weekend. Then, as soon as an incident is captured or reported. Have cops shutdown all entrances and exits to IH35 and search all the cars for a stash of rocks. We could probably do this for several weekends in a row and put a stop to this menace.

Of course the drivers are to blame... But, our officials have to be held accountable and to a standard. 80 people dead on our roads so far this year (spanning everything from distracted driving to drunk driving) is a reflection of the policing and enforcement capacity of our city and county.

One is the head of an office where they let themselves off of drunk driving and believe they are above the law and are responsible for prosecuting felony drunk driving, the other is responsible for protecting and serving our community by keeping the roads safe. It's wild west out there, if law enforcement and prosecutors did their job there would be fewer deaths on our roadways.

It's time Rosemary Lehmberg and Art Acevedo are fired. Under their tenure the menace on our roadways has only gotten worse. The people of Travis County and Austin deserve much better.

I am against this package, all of it. There is nothing good in it. No matter where you live it's a boondoggle. Clear, rapid, deep tax cuts are the answer to the recession. Proved in the 60s, early 80s, early 90s, and early 00s.

If these tax cuts are combined with review of all federal government programs and eliinations and cuts where there is waste and fraud and duplication, the economy would burn very hot.

Pelosi, Reid, and Obama want to use this crisis to shove down a package that has no worth, no merit, and expands government at the expense of the private sector.
