App Store will be a curator of mobile apps so to speak. Let's say you are looking for a to-do list application, sure you can type in Google and browse all the various suggestions or you can just go to the App Store, right on your iPhone and read reviews, view the most popular, weight free vs. pay option and download it and start using it. One suggestion I think needs to happens is what Twitterific is doing, more software developers need to come out with Freemium software. I am tempted to try out many of the games in the App Store but I don't want to pay for it right away, I want to see if I like the App before I will buy it. This is certainly true for games.
2. Yes, it is great to have open systems and free software providers but I do get a sense of security (even if it is false, I highly doubt it) that the app I am about to download from the App Store is not going to take my phone and my lifestream broadcast ability away because it is buggy or virus-y or any of the other reasons that millions of PCs these days are infected with spy-mal-ad-virus-ware. So Apple is not only creating a software distribution platform but also one that says trust us, this app will not destroy your iPhone. This seems naive and useless for people like us but for lot of non-tech savvy users this is feature that delivers a lot of relief. Last thing they want is Symantec or McAfee for their mobile devices.

Re: What can we learn about the iPhone app ecosystem from the Facebook app ecosystem?

I believe I read in one of the debriefs from the iPhone Enterprise Roadmap event that Apple would create Enterprise only app stores where employees of a certain Enterprise would be able to download the Enterprise specific apps for free inside the Enterprise App Store most likely on an Enterprise Intranet.

Anyone else hear that?

Re: Memorial Day

Bravo! If the counter argument is that you can just listen to the audio when you are walking, than what is the point of video comment? Listening to the audio, while walking is great. It's like listening to a talk show but with a lot of participants.
- Even while not mobile, I still multi-task while consuming information, the problem of attention comes up again. Video demands my continuos visual attention, text or audio doesn't.
- I agree with you in your response to Robert, Video is great for certain things. All the things Robert listed are great uses of Video comments, but what we need is a hybrid, not all comments need to be in text, some are just as great in getting the point across using other forms of media such as photos, audio, video, animation et al. So yes, their is a place for video, but I don't think an all video commenting system is that great. If you are saying something/opinionating, type it or audio record it. If you want to show/describe/explain me some object, than use video.
- I also agree with others who said that a transcript of the video would be good.
- Lastly, almost any new information consumption technology must pass the mobile friendly test. The usage of mobile internet and ownership of smart mobile devices is only increasing with every new device that is released.

Oh and Howard, please spare us the horror, next time. ;)

Re: iPhone vs Blackberry - Survey Sample Size of One

I agree, it's great for music, videos and oh yeah YouTube. McCain instantly criticized Hagee for his anti-Catholic remarks. Can the same be said about Obama regarding Rev. Wright? The comparison is really grasping at the straws from Obama supporters. As much as people like to believe McCain is some religious right hero, I find it really hard to believe. Falwell endorsed Huckabee and Robertson endorsed Giuliani in the GOP Primaries. Oh and hope this helps clear it little more from LA Times: http://tinyurl.com/3t2mpv

This is Obama's mess, he has to clear it up himself. People blaming the media, Clinton, McCain or GOP are just looking for excuses to defend Obama at all costs.

Re: The Lessons of Rev Wright

I believe if he made the speech he did yesterday back in March, we would be talking about the general election between Obama and McCain right now.

Re: The Lessons of Rev Wright

The media giveth and the media taketh. The media likes to build leaders up and tear them down. Let's be honest and admit that Obama's momentum in Jan-Feb was driven largely by the soft treatment of his campaign by the media. Now that some members of the media are attacking/exposing some of Obama's weaker points, you can see he is no longer the juggernaut that strung together several states in a row and put Clinton on the brink of elimation.

As for Wright, Fred is spot on. And please never put MLK and Wright in the same discussion. MLK never used hate to incite his constituency, he used God's love and equal creation of all humans as his message.

Re: Of Course They Are Bitter

"Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering.
