You argue that it isn't important, but you just spent (I have no idea how much time invested) 650+ words telling us you think it isn't important.

From a young age I was taught to eliminate unnecessary movement from my pitching windup or my golf swing. This makes sense. Make your athletic movements less complicated to reduce the amount of opportunities for mistakes. But I still had a leg kick. I still broke my hands as I pushed off the rubber. I still had a follow through. I eliminated the unnecessary movements and kept the necessary ones. Just like a wind-up when pitching, a waggle when golfing, or any other sports analogy that makes for proper form and technique, the oxford comma is necessary.

I'm pretty sure Kinsler was their original target. Kinsler wanted an extension in order to waive his no trade clause and the Dodgers couldn't guarantee that kind of commitment to a 35 year old. So their sights turned to Dozier.

FYI - The Jonah Hill character in moneyball was Paul De Podesta. DePo was not that bad of a GM either. Also, to start the season, Pederson will be in AAA, and Ethier will be in CF. By the beginning of June it probably wont be that way, but to start the season it WILL. The only evidence I need Kris Bryant with the Cubs. Would you rather have one or two months of Pederson as an inexperienced rookie, or a full season of Pederson as a 2020 seasoned veteran? Option B please. And if Ethier can perform admirably in that time, his stock only rises.

Trading Ethier isn't a situation where we are looking to upgrade the roster. The upgrade comes from not having him on the roster.

FYI - most of Scherzers deal is deferred. 15 mill a year for 14 years.
I'd much rather debate about Greinke being a trade candidate and hoping that he opts out. The guy will be 32 going into next season. I think we all agree, that is about the age when pitchers start to break down. We've already seen his velocity drop in recent years. I'd much rather give the money to Price who will be two years younger and arguably better.
