I think it's because the online trading sites assume that I know what I'm doing, yet I feel that I don't. Can you recommend any guides that take you through the entire process of buying and selling, with best-practices?

Re: Extreme Minimalism

Being a minimalist is sort of required when you have a nomadic lifestyle. I thru-hiked the AT last year, so for almost 6 months everything I owned fit in my backpack:
Shelter/Sleep : tent, sleeping bag & mat
Clothing : 2 of each essential item
Electronics : laptop, smartphone, camera
Cooking : pot, alcohol stove, lighter, water filter & container
Toiletries
photo: http://onahike.com/topics/3...

Now that I am back home living in an apartment I own a little more clothes, a couch, chairs, TV, car, media that collects dust on a shelf, etc. I'd like to share a large common space with most of this stuff provided, but privacy is important too.

When you decide to "settle down" in one spot will you stick with the extreme minimalism?

Re: Twitter and Me : jazzychad's blog

Great post Chad. I doubt there will ever be as much excitement about an API as there was with Twitter. I think we all are feeling jaded now. Best of luck with Notifo and your many future apps/ideas/projects to come.

Re: Board Games on the iPad: Oh Yes, This is Going to be Big

How about Scrabble http://www.virtualshackles....

Re: Buzzkill: The Nexus One Was Never About a Phone

I was just thinking the same thing. Google missed a big opportunity to really rock the mobile world and launch a totally open phone... capable of running on any network, and at a reasonable price (even if they subsidized it themselves, they would profit in the long run). That would have been news.
http://dsims.posterous.com/...

Re: Facebook drops “regions” concept in move to simplify site

This is a good move. Privacy by region doesn't really mean anything when anyone can claim to be from that region. It worked when everyone on Facebook was grouped by college (verified by email address), but not anymore.

Re: Twitter as coral reef, cont'd (Scripting News)

I have not found a better place to express and discover ideas (and have a conversation around them) than FriendFeed.
In fact, your tweet about Arrington already has a ton of comments on FriendFeed: http://friendfeed.com/davew...
Any particular reason why you don't want to leverage FF more?

Re: Lessons from the changes in Twitter (Scripting News)

This is also shows why twitter is stuck and is unable to add any real new functionality. So many have no idea how twitter replies work, or that "how" they tweet can effect who can see it, or that a reply can be linked to a status (if your app supports it, and if you use the reply button correctly). All these details are hidden from the average user, which is a big reason why twitter has seen so much success so far. But, since the twitter-verse can't seem to handle even this simple concept, I don't plan on there ever being additional metadata added to tweets.

Re: My new news page (Scripting News)

I assume twitter has been doing this w/ their auto-tinyurls (and not just using tinyurl because it "looks nicer"). Having a birds-eye view of where everyone is visiting from twitter, even on desktop clients and phones, I imagine is a very valuable thing.
