Indeed it was a different interpretation of Superman but one that is no-less valid.
As for the killing of Zod, I didn't have a huge problem with it. He killed Zod in the comics under similar circumstances back in the 1980s so it's not exactly unprecedented.

Re: In a summer filled with films exploiting 9/11 imagery, Pacific Rim follows a different path

I just got back from seeing it and while I like it for the most part, it didn't blow me away at al.
It may have been the cinema I was seeing it in but the first fight especially was almost incomprehensible in parts and it ended up with the same visual issues that films such as Transformers have.
Admittedly, seeing it in the same week as Man of Steel may have coloured my feeling on the destruction to a point. That film's final battle felt like there were serious stakes and the visuals were awe-inducing.

Re: The forgotten blockbuster The Golden Child marks the beginning of Eddie Murphy’s “not trying” phase

Weirdly, Golden Child and Legal Eagles are two of the movies that used to screen with great frequency on Australian TV throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, especially during the Christmas summer holidays.

Plus Back to the Future II and III. It's always been there in films too (James Bond will be back in...).

Impossibly high expectations and the ideas imagine by fans can be a problem though. Remember how many fans of LOST were pissed every time one of their pet theories didn't end up on screen. You'd see thread after thread of these fuckers arguing that the show had failed and its answer wasn't as "perfect" as their one.

Re: Now you’ll see a Now You See Me sequel

It is getting a sequel.
