We found the original hard to understand. This version is also decoupled from the cache backend that you use.

Hi all, Andrew from Disqus here. Not only do we think data portability is the right decision for our business, but it's what we believe in on a personal level too. Better options for import and export are in the works, and will be part of our next major release. As for trackbacks, they should be out some time in the next week.

Disqus doubled in size this month as Devin and I joined as new software developers. After we're all up to speed, you can expect improvements at a faster rate.

Thanks, Glenn! Sharing code is a beautiful thing. In case you're interested, one other feature we are considering adding is a "delete" method that merely lowers the timeout on the cached value (instead of truly deleting it), thereby triggering the mint refresh. That way one could avoid the dogpile effect when manually invalidating.

That's a great idea! If we understand the problem correctly, you might be able to get it to work by having a second greasemonkey script for the iframe, depending on how much the two frames need to communicate.

Winston, yes, reply.html was missing more than a doctype. That's all been fixed and it will be valid HTML transitional with the upcoming release. However, since it loads in an iframe, that shouldn't be affecting what pages you can use it in.

As for embed.js, there we are seeing some problems with xhtml compatibility. We still need to look into that one.

It uses the same 3rd-party spam filtering as the first version. Most users are very happy with the level of spam protection.

We haven't implemented trackback importing yet, but several people have asked for it, so it's near the top of the list.

Vrypan, it looks like you had installed the Wordpress plugin but have since removed it. When you had it installed, did the imported comments look correct on your site, or was it only messed up on the disqus.com Community Page?

Thanks for the reports. It has been fixed. The problem was server-side, so users who experienced this problem will not need to upgrade or downgrade their plugin.
