There is an over-emphasis on root-memorization, practicing for tests, and top-down pedagogy with little emphasis on learning-by-play. As a recent graduate of Hack Reactor, I saw what education could and should be. The amount of knowledge that can be gained when you are fully engaged and surrounded by peers and teachers who are just as committed to your success as you are is extraordinary.

I could try to explain to you what it is about Hack Reactor that makes it so great, but why not just hear it from the guy whose ideas and passions designed the Hack Reactor curriculum? When you hear Marcus speak, you will understand why Hack Reactor works.

Re: #2 Using The HTML5 Build Script With A WordPress Theme – Part 2 Of 2

ahhh... thanks. btw I think I unintentionally messed up your blog layout. I sent you a tweet with the screenshot, but on http://www.jaygeorge.co.uk/... because of my disqus user bio... all the content is pulled way way left... like off the screen left. The offending span class is dsq-commenter-bio.

Re: #2 Using The HTML5 Build Script With A WordPress Theme – Part 2 Of 2

where are these forums you speak of? can't seem to find them.

Re: #2 Using The HTML5 Build Script With A WordPress Theme – Part 2 Of 2

Cole it is possible. What you need to do is in your config/project.properties you add functions.php as one of the file.pages you want to have the build script optimize. The css should work out of the box because all it does is find a reference to your style.css and replace it with the minifies/concatenated version. It won't however change any other css files.

But for the javascript to work you will have to modify the regex starting on line 599 in the build.xml file.

One of the other things you will have to look out for is that by default wordpress adds a query string with a version number to the end of your path. This basically defeats part of the purpose of the build script... so to prevent wordpress from adding the query string you have to pass in NULL as the version number when calling wp_enqueue_script.

Re: #2 Using The HTML5 Build Script With A WordPress Theme – Part 2 Of 2

Just wanted to thank you for the videos. They were very easy to follow along with and really helpful for getting started with bringing wordpress and HTML5Boilerplate together.

If you or anyone else is interested I think I managed to get the html compression working on php files (but all it really seems to do is strip out comments). You just have to make some additional modifications to the build.xml file.

I just pushed everything I did to github so if you are interested in checking out the changes you can see them here: https://github.com/dremonke.... I documented the changes in the README file.

Re: HOW TO: Turn Your Android Phone Into a Killer MP3 Player

You might be waiting for a long time now... But the personal connection cannot be just between the CEO / founder and the users... that same level of passion and transparency needs to trickle down to the rest of the team.

It should start with the CEO but you need an equally passionate / transparent team to back you up. The question that needs to be asked is not "If Derek Johnson disappears for a month, will he be missed?" but rather "If Derek Johnson disappears for a month will there be any noticeable decrease in transparency at Tatango?"

If the answer to the second question is "NO" then you have a great company.

And to answer my own question... the answer is "NO". You and your team at Tatango have done a great job of keeping things real.

Re: Online Collaboration Tools - New Technologies And Web Services - Sharewood Guide Dec 08 08

@ joljol2 Thanks for the comment. I looked into Vmukti and Vimukti (Collaber) as you suggested and although I see many similarities between Vmukti and Vimukti, I am not quite sure why you think I am getting the two confused. It would help greatly if you could clarify which part you think I made a mistake on. Thanks.
