I'd wager that security problems are probably more likely with third party apps where people put in their username and password and hey then get stored in cleartext. twtter needs to move to friendfeed's system of having a separate key for api access.

Yep, while the details of some stuff needs to be sorted out, the only real barrier now is widespread adoption, which is coming ;)

I feel much the same, except I have it for the next year at the very least :)

1) Co-founder in social web startup
2) Co-founder in e-commerce startup
3) Full time researcher at Uni
4) getting an incubator off the ground
5) Blog (I don't have a large readership, so the responsibility isn't quite that bad)

As greenskeptic said, it's about passion... perhaps I have a little too much on my plate to not own a blackberry, I just don't have time to get one! :)

Agreed. I hate the versions.

Also, don't forget the intelligent web and the merging of web and traditional interfaces. Two areas that will also be prominent in apps of the future.

Apparently this is one of the many and ill-defined parts of Web 3.0 . I personally like the idea, as much as I loath the principle around AIR and particularly Silverlight, the ebay AIR app was a perfect example of making a good new interface available.

I wonder when we'll see mashable desktop apps? I guess in reality it'll be a combination of AIR/Flash/Silverlight/AJAX etc
