This is not a country club for the Ridge. Since when is a YMCA anything like a country club? I AM A DOWNTOWN RESIDENT, I AND MANY I KNOW DOWNTOWN WILL BE VOTING YES! Please stop speaking on my behalf as a downtown resident. Are you kidding me about the center being less tahn 3 miles from the heart of downtown? For the record, I walk up the hill about once a week as part of my excerise plan and I know others that do the same. If you lived in Bellevue or Seattle or any other city in the state for that matter, would you expect those cities to only build a community center if it was walking distance to your house? I think not. We have a new transit system in town and for 50 cents they will pick you up. Many YMCA's also have buses for their programs and this might even be an option here. Snow and ice, really? That is about 10 days a year, maybe. When the city spoke of many people walking that is because the center will be located where the majority of our population currently lives. This is not a conspiracy it is simply basic common sense to locate it near the mass population, not to mention that the land and 3 million dollars has been provided for this location by Quadrant. Let's not forgot the flood zone. Are you going to be the one to dig all the mud out of the bottom of the pool in our next flood? Please, stop this us vs. them mentality, it is not good for OUR city. </p>
