I live far uptown (taking the LOCAL!) and it takes me 90 minutes door to door from LIRR. From the Flatiron, I think if she knew the system better, she would have gotten there faster.

Re: New Logo and Identity for Carl's Jr. and Hardee's by 72andSunny

There was a story on NPR--Marketplace, I want to say--where the reporter went into the test kitchen. The park had many fundamental problems from opening that linger and effect the park today--from the Bugs Life overlay on Bountiful Valley to GotG today.

But yes, your point is well taken.

Re: Kevin Yee: Drinking Around the Magic Kingdom

Reading some of the comments, it seems that the logical leap of some against alcohol in the parks is that drinking and drunkenness are one and the same. I think there is room for drinking, but not drunkenness. Further, times have changed. The culture around drinking with meals is different--with wine culture, craft cocktails, beer pairings with food. If I were at a sit-down restaurant, I would love to have a drink with my meal. So I think that as of now, there is a nice balance at the MK in meeting today's needs (and increasing revenue) and maintaining a family-friendly park. Once the whale-bone margaritas appear in Fantasyland, I'll grab the pitchforks with you.

Re: Finally! “Experimental” TSA Screening Lane May Speed Up Long Lines

Except for the penalty bit, they used to have lines at certain airports for families, novices and expert fliers. And everyone in the end thought they were expert fliers, forgetting all sorts of things. Hell, we all forget things. I forgot that little Dasani water bottle you get on DL in my backpack going through PreCheck. I thought Moscow, of all places, was onto something: have different zones when you're disrobing/unpacking. Have couches as a section where people take off shoes and fold up strollers, have another section where people can unpack liquids. It seemed so Disney-esque and civilized.

Re: MiceChat - Disneyland Resort, Features - Huge Disneyland Price Increase or NotMiceChat

Just as a point of information, Disneyland Paris has done this for quite some time. The disappointment for me was that the price per day only went down $4 for the value days versus up $6 for the regular days--which is a price increase regardless. It would have been better PR to have the price on average to go down for value/regular), and focus the increase on the peak days.

Re: An Ode to the River and Happier Times at Disneyland

Some could argue that Adventureland reflected a dark time for many--an age of American exploration and imperialism and expansion into tropical territories. We wax poetic, and fantasize about the romantic. We draft lore and legends, but for some, underneath the polish, it was also a painful time. Beyond not reflecting America directly, for some, it might even be pained--something we're seeing with the native Hawaiians play out today (in un-Disney related matters).

Re: 7 Great Low-Tech Travel Accessories for $15 or Less

I've never thought of Oatmeal, but that's a great idea. I agree with the whole notion of "if I wanted twitterification, I would sign up for Twitter." For me, the regional networks was still the easiest way to see what friends I have in X city for when I travel. Searching isn't as user friendly and then I get four hundred names with a majority not even in my proper network. Asinine to get rid of something. What's that saying?
