I was really impressed. I'm always amazed at how many business owners spend all of their time and money on getting new customers and completely forget them once they have them.

Re: From the Blog Topics Community

Chris,

Thanks for sharing my post, Never Lose Sight of Your Dreams. I was surprised by the amount of traffic and the new comments I was getting on a month old post today so I had to track down where the traffic was coming from. I had completely forgotten that you asked us to share posts with you in Blog Topics and that I had shared that one.

For anyone who struggles with ideas for your blog, I couldn't recommend Blog Topics enough. It's a great concept and has helped me a lot. Now if I could just get myself to be more consistent. :-)

Doug

Re: From the Blog Topics Community

Jeff,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on the Dreams post.

Doug

Re: Never Lose sight of your dreams

Thank you for your insightful comment Henry,

My only regret about journaling is that I have done it too inconsistently over the years. There are themes to our lives that we forget when we haven't written them down. Luckily I have tended to journal when things were great and when things were bad. I have probably learned more about myself from the bad than the good. I've had similar revelations from reading from those times and as you did have made adjustments because of that.

Doug

Re: Never Lose sight of your dreams

Jeff,

Thanks for the idea. I would add that they hit a niche that is pretty active online, tends to be much more social and is more into "rah rah" self help than the general population, yourself excluded of course.

I've seen a number of authors use social media effectively and fully expect to see more from the bigger publishers.

Being a bit of a perfectionist, I started down the path of researching and explaining all of the other pieces of their marketing, but decided that I frankly never would have hit publish on this post and that's my new goal to produce and hit publish

Re: Never Lose sight of your dreams

Thank you Julie! We quickly forget how much in our lives we have to be grateful for and how good we feel when we finish the exercise. It's power is its simplicity.

Re: Simple Facebook Promotion strategies

The key is to not only have a good giveaway, but to also have a plan to engage the new people who join because of the contests.

Re: 5 Ways to Promote Your Facebook Fan Page

You want to use the full URL. Most people would have pretended everything went well and move on without learning. We've already discussed a couple of the things I would have changed, but I will add some things here.

1. Yes never give away your product during a launch contest. It's best to give away bonuses to the first "xx" that buy. I learned that selling vacuum cleaners at Montana Fair in 9th grade.

2. Affiliates are busy and most will not take the time to learn about your product. You have a couple of choices:

- Give them emails, articles and blog posts that they can put their name on.
- Give them content that they can send out as a guest post
- Do webinars with their audience only and give them a prepared set of questions
- or you can only work with a small group of affiliates who actually take the time to learn about your product. Which isn't too smart since the successful marketers get asked EVERY day to promote.

There are some other things, but I have to get to work on some projects and we'll be talking in our Mastermind with Scott later today.

Doug

Re: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/217415

Public speaking is one of the best ways to set yourself up as the go to expert in your niche and is the easiest way generate leads and build business.

Not only is speaking is an important part of my marketing. I had a CEO who would spend hours discussing the most minute details and would literally spend thousands of dollars in time to discuss issues that only cost the company a couple of hundred bucks to fix. Drove me insane.

My motto on managing - hire good people, give them good clear objectives, get out of their way. If you must have several people in a meeting to facilitate everything moving forward faster then make sure you have a clear agenda with goals and outcomes and then stick to that agenda.
