There are income tax implications to home ownership that are very advantageous. I believe the opportunity to write off the mortgage payment interest is one of the big issues.

Also home owners aren't finding it that easy to get home equity loans right now. The tight credit market is squeezing the home buyers and HELOC seekers alike.

Re: LulzSec, Anonymous call for PayPal boycott, following FBI raids | VentureBeat

Participating in a denial of service attack shows a severe lack of judgement and a lack of courage. If computers are good at anything, they are good at keeping records. For instance log records of IP numbers. I have to wonder if these people gave any thought to the legal repercussions of maliciously interfering with the operations of a large company. And if you are foolish enough to do this over a state border (easy to do on the Internet), then it becomes a federal matter. I guess they had a feeling of safety as they sat in their parents basement pushing buttons.

I don't understand the reasoning about why we should boycott a company because they went after people that tried to interfere with their business. If Paypal is a bad company and worth boycotting, that would have been a legal and forthright way to communicate with them. Voting with your wallet. People feeling that way could have publicised their desire for people to boycott, and no laws would have been broken.

There has been something called "appropriate use" associated with the Internet from the beginning. And the Internet was not build so anarchists could launch attacks over infrastructure paid for and depended upon by others.

Re: HURT: Sarah of Alaska fits Joan of Arc role as 2012 possibility

Research is important, but what are credible sources of information. Saying you aren't happy with the current choice doesn't address whether there was a better choice at the time, and whether there was enough information to have made that decision.

Last time around each of the candidates had a platform that included obvious benefits and unfortunate liabilities. I hate choosing from the least evils.

Re: HURT: Sarah of Alaska fits Joan of Arc role as 2012 possibility

Kind of short on facts eh?

Re: Libya intervention: What's the endgame? - CSMonitor.com

The use of American treasure, human and financial, should be discussed and approved in Congress. Our existing operations have strained our countries resources terribly. A system of checks and balances was put into place by the founders, so that issues of import can be rationally discussed and positions decided. Part of Bush Junior's legacy was a deranged concept of executive privilege and secrecy that undermines our democracy. The War Powers Act is not only a good idea, it is LAW. The so-called war on terrorism has led to a situation where "actions" are determined by unknown individuals behind closed doors. The Patriot Act was just renewed for another four years without discussion or modification, apparently by both sides. The mechanism behind this is inscrutable and worrisome as well. What happened to protecting the constitution as the essence of our democracy? GOD help us.

Re: Gmail is down? He spent his life earning and saving money at a great cost to his wife and family. Now he is 77 and things have changed. Recently he was very ill and the doctors had to take his legs. God was good to him and he is in relatively good heath. It is very expensive keeping him where he is. As his life savings approached zero, he ad to go n Medu-Cal. His money didn't last for his entire lifetime. Now he must trust in God because we, his children are disabled also and not employed. It seems that the entire family is being tested. Each of us are being given an opportunity to learn to trust Christ. As he realizes the fact that his wealth cannot save him, he is now in a phase where he is depending on me to preserve his physical, and mental health. He is making up for his lack of control over his physical body and possessions by attempting to control my life. Frankly I have my own problems which I am learning to share with God and I need dad to depend on the Lord about things I cannot control. When dad comes to know Christ I believe he will leave me more space and time for my spiritual awakening to Christ which is equally important to me. I am filled with fear and depression about my own life circumstances and I am praying a lot for myself. I look forward to being in a place where I can pray for others outside my family, and outwards in an ever expanding circle un til it includes all of God's children. I can see this is going to take me some time.

Re: Potheads take down Comcast

It is not surprising Comcast has trouble.
