We too are traditionalists when it comes to an Old Fashioned. Though I agree in principal with the article you reference, there are few things I do take umbrage with such as making ice optional or using simple syrup rather than a sugar cube. Bartenders have been riffing on the Old Fashioned for years, it is one things that makes it all so fun!

Cheers

Re: What Your Favorite Blog Says About You

drinkoftheweek.com everyone thinks you are an enthusiast but you are really just a lush

Re: Hot Toddy

thanks for the catch -- fixed!

Re: Kirkland Premium Small Batch Bourbon, Aged 7 Years Review

Your right, it is only 1 opinion. Taste is personal

Re: Death’s Door White Whisky Review

yep, no corn. it is all door county wheat

Re: Zaya Gran Reserva 12 Year Old Rum Review

opinionated, true Bacardi did have distilling operations in Puerto Rico starting in the 1930's. However, the company was based and produced Rum in Cuba until the Family/Company was forced to flee Cuba after the Revolution in 1959.

In the post we said "allegedly" about them making Havana Club at the old Bacardi Distillery. This is different than saying it was "definitely" made there. Upon farther in investigation it is Caney that is made. Not El Varadero as you stated. We will update that.

Finally, so you didn't like the review. I assure you, we taste every bottle we review.

Re: Icy Hands Halloween Punch

run warm water over it to loosen

Re: Cinnamon Syrup

It should last about a month. You can add a tablespoon of vodka to the finished syrup to extend the life.

Re: What’s the difference between a cream liqueur and a crème liqueur?

thanks for the catch!

Re: SFist Eats: The Melt

@sfist you were asked not to review the food?!?
