Why can’t we celebrate it?  Congratulations are due!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Times are tough and there are many retailers, of course, who are suffering much worse than single-figure reductions but let’s apply some perspective to the current problems.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Evens, (or better), in ‘like-for-likes’ are now, top of the class. &lt;br&gt;A couple of percent down is pretty damn good. &lt;br&gt;Ten per cent down is more worrying and requires attention &lt;br&gt;...and greater problems may require dramatic treatment.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Much blame is directed on the media for their quirk of taking somewhat poor reports and pouring heaps of gloom and doom upon it.  So-be-it : better headlines!  But now is not the time to be practicing this habit.  Right now, in retail, minor failure should be celebrated as success!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The media (including Retail Week) is at fault in these down-times. &lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">donaldRM</dc:creator><pubDate>Tue, 13 Jan 2009 09:12:53 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
