Interesing study Niall! I'm a little worried about the effect that sites like Twitter are having on blog comments. It seems to me that many blog post are being talked about on Twitter and other mediums, but the comments in the actual blogs themselves are suffering. At the same time though I guess if a blog has quality content it's only a matter of time before the comments take off :)

I think it's a handy tool, especially for businesses that are expanding into social media at a faster pace. Most are going to be looking to monitor what's out there on the www and this will certainly be a starting point

Wow I'm impressed! I never visited MSN much to be honest due to the unattractive interface but this might make me reconsider!

Edit: Although now that I think about it, I probably won't ever change iGoogle as my default homepage, which makes me less likely to visit MSN.

Apps are big business so you're always going to get the few that are willing to pay $4.99, that doesn't mean the price is justified though!

Very true! If someone says "please RT" I automatically switch off. They also put themselves in danger of being unfollowed if it's persistant self promotion.

Great post. One of the things that caught my attention was the analysis of the URL shortening. In my opinion the only reason that bit.ly is way ahead of the rest is because it has been annointed by Twitter as the default URL shortener and most people don't bother changing it. Tools like TweetDeck also have it as default, so really I don't think it's too valid to say that by using Bit.ly you increase your chances of an RT

That's a good list alright Frank. I think that the analytics is going to be one of the major ones to watch as business look for more detailed information about their online activities and investigate the return on investment.

Interesting development! If it is true it's likely Google will target developing a phone that plays on all it's current technologies and try wrap the social web and mobile phones into one!

It's nice to disconnect with technology from time to time! Relaxing with a paper book is enjoyable and that's why I think both kindle and Nook will struggle in certain markets, specifically the 30+ age group.

If Xbox spam profiles with the achievements a person achieves "in-game" then this will be a massive annoyance! However if they utilise it as a communication tool then thumbs up!
