This new feature does not require you to connect to a network, but you still need a working WiFi antenna so your iPhone can crete an ad hoc network (same happens with AirDrop, however it uses Bluetooth and AirPlay will probably use WiFi Direct).

Also, since we haven't tested it yet, we're not sure whether this feature is present in the current iOS 8 beta or not. Apple TV might need an update, too.

Re: How to get XBMC on Apple TV 3 (or non-jailbreakable Apple TV 2)

Sure, Plex is a great XBMC alternative.

We have installation guides for both Mac
http://www.appletvhacks.net...

and Windows
http://www.appletvhacks.net...

Re: Stream music from Android devices to Apple TV or AirPlay speakers with doubleTwist’s MagicPlay

lol, it's about how to stream to the Apple TV from a hacked Android device, RIP appletvhacks? really?

Re: How to watch Amazon Prime Instant Video on Apple TV

You’re right, it describes “HOW TO USE ADDITIONAL DEVICES TO ACCESS AMAZON PRIME AND STREAM VIA AN APPLE TV USING STREAMING FUNCTIONALITY OF IOS AND APPLE SOFTWARE.” Next time you post an article on your blog, that’s how you’ll entitle it!

And no, using AirPlay is definitely NOT “pretty much the
same as buying the relevant cables and plugging the iOS device directly into the TV”. The second method is just an alternative way
in case there are issues with AirPlay. We are also fond of the very expensive (for what iOS apps are usually priced) port of Anki for iOS. It's awesome, plays very nice with the desktop and online versions and offers a truckload of features. But, YMMV and you have to grow with your app, not pick just the trendy one. Great for you to have one you love!

Re: Apple TV software update 5.0.1 released (updated)

yep

Re: Apple TV software update 5.0.1 released (updated)

tethered. still no jailbreak for atv3

Re: Mac OS X running on Apple TV

Whiskey can solve that :)

Re: Mac OS X running on Apple TV

Nope, it's only for the aTV1, needs an internal hard disk (and an Intel-like processor)

Re: How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2 on iOS 4.3 or iOS 5 Beta with Seas0nPass 0.7.7 (untethered)

If it is an Apple TV2, there is no way.
