Horselover, I feel sorry for you. Is this all you have? Most people have lives and don't post here everyday. Most of the posters here aren't worth responding to. Your getting all worked up over a donkey not living nearby is laughable. You don't have the facts or you'd dispute something I've said. It just kills you that you're wrong. You can't help yourself, but to respond to everything anybody says. Try not to respond to this, but you will. The donkeys are gone. Go visit them. For me the subject is closed. Respond if you wish, but I will not think of those donkeys or this site agian. The neighbors won and the donkeys are now living on a peaceful farm. Go find some other topic you know nothing about, and start a discusssion, they too will make you look like uniformed tool.

If you guys are so concerned about a neighborhood you do not live in, then by all means ask for the zoning board documents that explains why she chose donkeys over goats. There is a very important fact that you are not aware of, but as usual don't let facts get in the way of your petty name-calling.
Every neighbor I spoke to talked to the schimmels on numerous occasions about her other animals noises in the middle of the night. If she doesn't do anything what are neighbors to do? Did you ever consider that maybe she should've talked to the neighbors before sneaking an illegal animal onto her property. Have you spoken to the animal control officer? If you are so sure that nobody ever spoke to him about barking dogs and other sounds at all hours, then why don't you call and ask him.
Heywoodja, you have a lot of anger towards this town on every issue. The comments you leave on every issue are just ranting and raving, no substance. maybe it's time for you to move somewhere you can be happy. please, get some help.

Now go back and read the first sentence of this article. These are Mediterranean minatures! So no, they are not the same size as any dog, these donkeys grow to 200-450 lbs.

What was the point of those posts? house color and snobby neighbors? Next time read the article, or at least the first sentence. so funny still laughing at you...

This issue is over. the neighbors won schimmel lost.
I just love to get you guys all worked up over this. That little girl can cry herself to sleep and blame her parents.

Touched a nerve huh? Saying that you are not intelligent because you have yet to bring up a revelant fact, it not an insult, but the truth. Prove me wrong and state a legal case for schimmel not getting the zoning board approval.
As to your not keep donkeys on your property, why not? Don't have enough space? smell? what is it?
An argument and/ or debate is based on facts, which you have none of. Glad you are nobody's lawyer.

I'm beginning to think the people posting here are really uninformed. Do you know what zoning laws are? she'd have to keep geese on her own property that is fenced in.
Oh that poor little girl? She must really love her pet that stands out in the rain with no shelter, and no place to run around and play.
"childhood is short and you caused her to lose some of it" seriously? Because her parents didn't get permission to get donkeys, it's everyone else's fault? Blame schimmels, buy a 3 acre property, and have fun with your donkeys.

Do you illegally keep large barnyard animals on your property? You really don't have the intelligence to realize that schimmel is the one that pulled a "stunt."

What has the neighbors put this family through? It's the other way around: Schimmel illegally brought two donkeys onto her property she knew she could not have. For the past 4 months the neighbors are the ones that have to endure this constant braying at all hours day and night and disgusting smell. She has less that one acre of total land, she needs three acres for two donkeys. One donkey requires two acres and the third donkey needs one more acre. Her large 4 bdr colonial sits on that one acre with a large inground swimming pool taking up a large chunk of backyard. This is simply a zoning issue. The donkeys have a small pen and only a lean to as shelter.
The reporter does not feel the need to get the neighbors' point of view, and conitues to give the impression that the donkeys have an acre to run around and play. I'm happy the donkeys will now have a good home where they can run, play, and get out of the rain and heat.
You really should get your facts straight before posting on a site you know nothing about.

Property value police? Why not get two donkeys on your land, and come back and tell us what the smells and waste removal is like. read previous posts about size of schimmels land and donkey pen, and let us know if you still think this is about property values.
One last question if the donkey doesn't smell, doesn't make noise, and is on a large peice of property not close enough for other neighbors to see, then how did anybody know these silent little animals existed?

As an animal lover maybe if you had the facts you'd understand why the neighbors feel the way they do. Here it is: The schimmels do not have two acres, they in fact don't even have one acre. The less than one acre they have sits a large 4 bedroom colonial with a large inground swimming pool, and a chicken coop in the corner of property. These two donkeys live in a small pen with just an 8x8 lean to as shelter. There is no barn or even a three sided shelter for them to get relief from sun or rain. The story makes it seem as though the donkeys themselves have two acres to run and play, not true they don't have any place to run around and get exercise.
You just said you can't bring farm animals into your yard, why not? zoning laws? Why didn't you break them like schimmel did? Seems like you're not as inconsiderate as the people you are defending.
Before ranting on a discussion site, get your facts straight, and think about what's best for those two animals.

The dog mysteriously left a couple of days before the donkey arrived. Coincidence? The only real danger to donkeys is the domesticated dog. Hopefully that poor dog found a home where it was allowed to live indoors.

Hey Horselover maybe you need to get a hobby like a 4H project. Your anger towards this issue makes me believe that you or one of your friends are actually the girl that owns the donkeys. You anger should be at the parents that brought two animals into their yard that they knew they couldn't keep instead of hard working neighbors who want to live without the constant smell and noise of barnyard animals.
If you don't know the donkeys, then why don't you offer to house them in your yard?

Can someone please name me a breed of dog common in this town or anywhere in the world that grows to weigh 300-450lbs? That is how big those miniature donkeys grow. A barking dog is annoying when it barks day and night. Why don't you ask schimmel about the dog they had that lived outside and barked all day and night. Schimmel probably "forgot" to mention that in the article about teaching her kids about animals.
Maybe the sympathy you have for this girl should be palced on the donkeys that deserve to live in a place where they can run, and have shelter from the rain and blazing sun.

Jerks? Very mature. You obviously have no idea how loud two donkeys are or how big dogs grow to be. Please name me a 300-450 lb dog. That is how big miniature donkeys grow. A dog is considered large at 100-120lbs. Even the skinniest donkey is at the very least 200 lbs. They also live 30-40 yrs. Do you think that 12 yr girl is going to care for those animals for their whole lives? If not, then what?

To all of the posters that think the neighbors are being unreasonable, then why haven't any of you offered to house the donkeys in your yards?
