It's free on Sunday mornings. The Prado is a great museum, but we found that waiting in line to enter free after 6 gave us plenty of time to wander through the galleries and get a sense of the place. A good option if you're a cheapskate.

Re: Today Marks Six Years of The Points Guy

TPG was the first points blogger to really get me inspired. It's used mostly by low cost carriers like Easyjet. I flew from there to Geneva for about $50 once. It wasn't too bad. But it's going to limit your options. I realize that you feel like you need to stand up and defend the church, but going around on the internet calling people liars really isn't helping your cause. Sorry.

However, it was only LDS congregations in California, by and large, that were called to action, so that might explain why you didn't hear about it. Do you live in California? Nevertheless, many wealthy LDS non-Californians were hit up for big monetary contributions.

And to address the initial comment again, the LDS church admitted directly contributing $190K for prop 8 and were even fined for disclosing their contributions late: http://www.sfgate.com/bayar...

Re: Neon Trees' Tyler Glenn: Gay, Mormon and Finally Out

It's widely known that church members were pressured by their local church leaders to donate money and volunteer. It's true that today if you request a quote for a broken phone we ask you for some details on the damage before we give you an amount. Starting tomorrow, we'll be able to give live quotes on phones that won't turn on and that have broken components. There are phones that we won't offer money on, such as iPhone 3Gs that won't turn on. However, all models of iPhone 4 are worth money. An AT&T 8GB iPhone with broken components gets $110 and $75 if it won't turn on.

I looked through our records for today, and the only person named Andy who received a quote today was quoted $255 for a 16GB iPhone 4S. But if you asked for a quote under another name and didn't receive a prompt reply, I'm sorry. Please contact us again.

Re: Travel Science: Beating Altitude Sickness While Traveling

I live at 7200 feet, in Park City, Utah. Feel free to contact me if you'd like some more in-depth recommendations, but I can second some of the ideas from other readers:
The Utah Olympic Park has a great free museum, and many ride attractions like zip lines and alpine slides, but the big kahuna is the bobsled ride which is expensive, but an amazing experience.

I'd also recommend taking the drive over to Sundance Resort. The mountains are more scenic over there. Eat at one of the restaurants (I like the Foundary Grill) and if you're a hiker, hike to Stewart Falls. The nearby "Alpine Loop" mountain road takes you up and over a high, scenic pass, and over to Timponogos Caves National Monument and the beautiful American Fork Canyon. If you're adventurous, you can take the back road (partially dirt) between Park City and Sundance and stop at Cascade Springs on the way.

Shopping on Main Street is fun, and the restaurants are expensive but good. Talisker on Main, as someone else recommended, is a favorite. I'm a huge fan of the High West Distillery. Creative cocktails, and great (boozy) food. I'm also a big fan of The Farm. Pro tip: buy a copy of Park City's newspaper, the Park Record, both for an events listing (there are many free concerts and festivals in the summer) and for the numerous 2 for1 coupons for expensive Main Street restaurants.

If you have any cycling ability, Park City is renowned for its vast network of bike trails. It was named the world's first "gold-level ride center" by IMBA. Even if you're not a mountain biker, there are many flat trails, including the old Union Pacific rail trail. Rent a bike at one of the many bike shops and ask for recommendations on where to ride.

Contrary to the previous commenter, the Guardsman Pass does not take you to Sundance resort. It will take you up and over to Big Cottonwood Canyon, the home of Brighton Ski Resort. That's another good day trip. In particular, to a hike around Silver Lake.

Another great day trip: Mirror Lake Highway to Provo River Falls and Mirror Lake.

Taking a scenic lift or gondola ride will get you up high so you can hike around.

In short, best kind of things to do in Park City and environs: Hikes, biking, shopping, great restaurants, scenic day road trips, and enjoying the fantastic summer weather.

Re: Giveaway – 3,000 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points

I'd like to travel from my home in Park City up to Jackson and Yellowstone, through western Montana, the Idaho panhandle, visit friends in Spokane, then travel on to see friends and family in Portland.

Re: Apple Bans (Social) Media at WWDC. I took more offense at the suggestion that they "didn't need" the houses they took out mortgages for. Of course they needed them! In fact, a field worker who's in all likelihood housing a large extended family needs a large house much more than the kind of double income no kids couple that buy many of them.

Re: The Faces of FlyerTalk Series

I think that the best AAdvantage deal is the off-season 40,000 mile tickets to Europe.
