Hi Sue,

I don't think the amount you pay is going to any sort of sales crew. It goes to the expense involved in setting up the various ticket stations and coordinating the volunteers and advertising the event. I've been on two of the home tours and have never been approached by anyone trying to sell me property. That's the appeal for me: I don't have to contact a broker or real estate agent but I get to see lots of available spaces downtown.

Chrome no likey the Flash. I have seen a couple of errors with the click hack that Microsoft forced on us last year and I've read about audio issues as well. Flash = no big loss IMO anyway.

Margie and I went on Saturday and it was not what you'd expect from a fair really. There was an entire portion of the thing that was indoors and the seats that were inside were reserved for a company who had paid a fee. Where were we going to sit down and eat our fried Oreos and fried pickles and fried Baby Ruth and fried corndog and fried...you get the point.

The midway was a little too safe and clean for a real fair. I never once felt like I'd turn my back and some carney would try to abduct my wife. It can't be authentic without being fearful of the "games o' chance" workers, can it?

Anyway, it was only $6 to get in but I'd get there before 2 or you'll sit in traffic trying to get in the place. :)

I considered it but SXSW is about a quarter of the cost and has the built-in excuse to fly to Austin for a week.

It's a whole new world when the critics are asked to "show us you can do better". Kudos to the design committee for encouraging users to do something rather than just ignore the criticism.
