What happened?! It's like he flipped a switch and has made Clark more like a real person now instead of the usual robot he's played him for all these years.

I really don't think Tom has done a bad job with Clark. He's playing a person who's always holding back (in fear of hurting someone) and trying to hide something major about himself. I think playing that honestly would make you seem wooden. That's what makes Kal so intense, Kal doesn't hold back or hide. That's why he was so good when he was playing Lionel. And that's why he as good last night... for most of the episode he wasn't hideing.

Re: Doctor Who: Aliens of London

Re: All I can say is...

Piiiiiiigs iiiiiiin Spaaaaaaaaaaace!

4 legs good.. 2 legs better

Re: Twitter vs. Pownce: Who Pwns?

Like others I've written up my thoughts on the twitter vs. pownce debate here. I've mused on the twitter vs. pownce topics here and here.

I understand that the instability of twitter is something that scares anyone building such a service.. but as Calacanis said if twitter down time is any indication they are going to be 2x as big as EBAY. We all remember how ebay was back in the day.

At the end of the day, without an open API, pownce is far less useful to me. Not having SMS support makes pownce less interesting, I'm not always in front of my machine, and find the ability to tweet while out and about part of its charm. Not being about to automagicly send links from del.icio.us and my shared google reader stories as links in pownce limits the uses I have of that feature.

For Leah's and Kevin's sake I do hope she's right, I'll be keeping an eye on it but suspect they'll be less interest until it's opened up.

Re: Post to Pownce, Twitter, Jaiku, Tumblr at same time

I've seen the hack, and where it would work for some folks, it's got it's drawbacks. Some of my posts are service specific.

The main thing keeping me from hoping on the Pownce bandwagon is the lack of an API. At some point they are going to have to open things up. Until then I fear I'm only going to use Pownce to pimp blog posts, etc. All my day to day conversation is still happening over on twitter.

Re: iPhone+v.+BlackBerry%3A+Side+By+Side%2C+Two+Week%26nbsp%3BComparison

So, I do have a question... I'm sure that integrity is something that would work in court here in the USA. Assuming that changing the content is creating a derivative, the DMCA would apply. Either way if I were to pursue it, there would be a lawyer involved in the planning.

Re: Why the “You Dont Need a Business Plan” meme is Crazy Talk

For over 10 years I've owned a computer consulting company, most of the time I've been the only employee, never needed to raise any capitol. Sure it was different that normal TWiT episodes (as with last week's with J.C.) but I've come to expect that from time to time".

The personality of TWiT changes each week depending on who's on the panel, and what's going on in the world. As you said it's a slow news week, that's when it's time to break the mold a bit, which you guys did.

As far as the audio issues are concerned, I've gotten used to it and appreciate it. It's the clearest symbol that this is different then traditional media,. The rawness of podcasting is part of the game we know it.

As far as OSC is concerned all I have to say is he has the right to believe anything he wants as long as he doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights. I doesn't effect his work, as far as I've seen, so I see no problem in recommending him.

Re: Just email us your credit card information...

You guys are great, it was Ustar that was the problem, sorry about the unclear pronoun (I have cleaned it up).

Re: The TechMeme killer or the Google Reader killer?

It's changed my behavior but not entirely.

I see to have separated personalities from business. If I spend hours designing a site so it's visually appealing why should a random ISP insert code that destroys it? Also, am I, from the end user's point of view, endorsing the products or services that have been added to the page I'm serving? There's nothing that says the ad comes from your ISP.

3) I thinking your setting the bar too high here.. all of your planed solutions require a level of knowledge beyond someone's grandmother (the example I use from time to time). Heck, the issues you outline are beyond 90% of the users of the internet. THis isn't 1996 anymore, everyone's on the net now.

4) The end user is paying their ISP... if the ISP isn't making enough money they should up the rates (I have no problem with the approach, btw).

5) I'm pretty sure that adding advertising is against the NonComercial-NoDerivs portion of my license.
