The church has been my home away from home (heaven). Through her is my teacher, councelor, challenger, accountability partner, family. I can give without recognition (Mat 6:4) and participate without humiliation. There are too few words available to express what God through His church has done for, and been to, me.

Re: Daily Devotional by Stovall Weems - Blog - One Prayer

Some thoughts on Servanthood. Have a teachable attitude, you can learn from anybody at any age from 5 to 95, expect God will reach through them to teach you. [Be humble.]

If you are not sure how to serve, try something, stick with it for a month, then try something else. When you find you really enjoy doing that particular thing or servicing that particular group, then you have found your gift. If not and you run out of areas to serve, pick one and stay with it until God directs you to something else. [Sow.] When frustrations come your way, recognize who (the enemy) is trying to frustrate you.

God's loves a cheerful giver (did I read that right?)

Just as there are many parts to the body of Christ, I believe our gifts shift over time as well. When I was younger, I loved serving with the youth. As I grew older now I love to be a stage roadie in set-up & breakdown. Our campus meets in a school so we set everything up from scratch: cabling, band, screen, lights, kid’s zone…everything. It’s great.

Periodically challenge what you read or pray as it being what you really think. Meaning does that scripture you have heard over and over again really mean what you think it does. For example, I've always been convicted by this passage in Ephesians, thinking that if I don't evangelize, then who will? Who will take up that cross and be a fool for Christ? I've street evangelized in the past and it can be very exciting and scary, at the same time. After all how do you start the conversation without being too churchy? I think there is some merit in the principle of "going out by twos or threes."

I used to read this [Ephesians] passage as it starts, that some are apostles, some are prophets, some are pastors, some are teachers...but then I misread that if you are none of these, then the rest are evangelists...rather than some are evangelists, to prepare [the rest of] God's people for service...

Relatively speaking it is much easier to go to another country, to go on a mission's trip to evangelize because you can always come home, away from "them." It is harder to talk to your neighbors because they might see you are a hypocrite or begin to think you are the weird neighbor.

Each of the 5 have distinct gifts. It's not the gift of the pastor, for he leads the flock. It's not the gift of the teacher, for he sees the truth and relates. It's not the gift of the apostles or prophets, for they speak the rhema word as God directs. The evangelist has the distinctive pleasure to see the big picture [with the others], push through and fight on the front lines.

Sometimes doing good things are enough until the time comes when you get [or God allows you] to do great things. God is good and has been good to me.
(LC- Wellington)

Re: http://www.oneprayer.com/blog/post/39392515

I guess I'm going to get blasted for this or it may not get posted. A couple of weeks ago the topic was asking us what our One Prayer would be. After listening to the messages, it seems obvious that we (the bulk of the church) are still taking baby steps, barely beyond the "accepting Jesus" stage. Look how many thousands, we have been told, are partnering with One Prayer and yet so few are engaging. It must break our Pastors, and especially our Saviors' hearts to see that we hear the messages, only.

Yes, the message to "Wake Up" was a little personal but look past the delivery, look past the conviction and see the truth in the message.

For if you just listen and don't obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. James 1:23

We need to realize that serving the church is not for the church's benefit, nor for God's benefit, but you serving the church is for your benefit. Sowing and reaping is one of the most basic principles of our Lord (and it took me over 20 years to figure it out, selah-a whisper). News flash, you have to sow first. Reaping is later.

This One Prayer, it seems, will fall into the box of the other 4-part series; another notch on the belt for some that they made it through.

I want to believe the church is ready to engage, is dying to engage, but it is as if we are handed an instruction manual written in a different language or we need a pliers only to be handed a screwdriver; we don't know where to begin, we don't feel equipped, we don't know where to go.

Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. Ps 119:105

God's Word is the manual, but it is not meant to show the whole way, just the next step. And most often it seems God just shows us what we think is the next step. It is only after we start down the path or begin to lift that foot do we later see it was the right way to go, or not. God's Word (manual) does have a lot in it and it can be overwhelming.

And if you mess up, oh well. Trust that the Holy Spirit can fix it. Learn by doing. Go.

Re: The One Prayer Offering - Blog - One Prayer

God is good...who knows where the next "Billy Graham," "DL Moody," or "Oswald Chambers" is going to come from. Who was the person that led the person that led Billy Graham to Jesus Christ? You just don't fully comprehend how your giving, or lack thereof, will impact the kingdom. But trusting in God to accomplish His will and Him letting us get in on this ground floor is a blessing that may be realized only when we get to heaven; and what a blessing it is to know [even] that is enough.

If one man (or woman) from one church could accomplish as much with God's will, how much more might be accomplished if God wills 500 new churches?

Re: Pray for Our Pastors - Blog - One Prayer

I thank God for my family, Craig and our LC campus team, and the needs for the day; which, I believe, is my daily bread [to serve]. To think of the [incredible] trust and faith our pastors must have to press us to the edge, to seek after Jesus Christ, knowing we are going to be tested or attacked, and ultimately our faith will be strengthened. Afterall, 5 minutes of obedience will replace years of study.

I praise God that He gave our pastors (Larry, Kevin, Chris, Ronda, Mayra & Todd) their heart to seek after Him, that they listen, and by faith they go. Many probably read the daily devotional "My utmost for his highest." Today's reading, like many days, is spot on!

Re: One Prayer Tuesday Fasting Focus: Miracles - Blog - One Prayer

Two things that our Lord has brought to my mind to pray; His healing touch to the marraige of my friends Terry & Sherri. Although it seems as far apart as they may seem to be and how hard it may be to unify, I pray that Father restores them to each other as only He can and will do. Jesus bring them back from the brink and restore them as Job was restored.

Also I pray Father gives me clarity and confirmation to the direction He has placed on my heart. Some direction has been given relative to heeding the needs of the poor, but as to what I don't know. Father I pray that my waiting on you is where you want me to be and not my hesitation, I pray you help me discern the difference and move in faith as you give me direction. Thank you Father for your miracles given to us.

Re: What is Your One Prayer? - Blog - One Prayer

I would pray that we be a cracked vessel that God can continuously flow through; what He gives us, we give away. That we accept God at His Word and let Him flow through us. And in the dry-spell or wilderness when it feels like God has slowed the flow, we keep giving as though the flow never stopped. dkl Wellington

Re: One Prayer Tuesday Fasting Focus: Salvations - Blog - One Prayer

In regards to prayer, the bible says (1 John 5: 14-15 And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will.
1Jo 5:15 And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for).

If it is God's will that none should perish (Mat 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. ), then for those we ask of God that He draws these close to Him, that He write their names in the Lamb's book of life, that He call them into an intimate life with Him; shall God give us what we ask? Although feelings are a result-of and not a lead-into, it is bizarre how much better I can hear when fasting and how much more (it seems) I can feel the Holy Spirit. He once told me long ago how incredibly powerful prayer is and how much our enemy would have us believe our prayers hit a glass ceiling. Don't just think your prayer is powerful as led by God, but know that your prayer is powerful...but then again not by my might...but by God's spirit. I praise our Lord for working through [each of] you.

Re: One Prayer - Blog

From LC - Wellington Campus: Sowing and reaping is a fundamental principle. Image the the harvest from this sowing falling on fertile ground (as the parable goes) then multiply that times seven. I suppose it would reflect a hint of what God has in store for the Church. Spread the seed, spread the seed, spread the seed, and if all else fails, speak.
